  1. It was quite funny looking up at the Celtic End and seeing a wee knot of away fans and noticing they were gradually being surrounded by Bears who appeared from behind the Centenary
  2. Not to mention a broken leg for big Ronnie McKinnon which effectively finished his career.
  3. He was notoriously short sighted, and suffered from bunions. But what a winger he was in his heyday.
  4. I think it was John Mackenzie who drew it to Waddell's attention.
  5. The two councils Lhabour will never lose control of are Glasgow and North Lanarkshire.
  6. We used to make the trip round behind the Centenary Stand at half-time as well, I recall it was always from the Rangers End to the Celtic End and never vice-versa. So the tradition of Rangers always attacking the Copland Road in the second half hasn't always been the case.
  7. In hindsight, I think I was guilty of taking the quality of our team for granted back then.
  8. That was my first experience of going to Ibrox, my old man took me in either 1961 or 62. He called it the "Trial", when I think about it I must have seen so many legendary Rangers players at that point of our history.
  9. I thought he might have got a chance to come on and provide a spark when we were struggling today. He must have been gutted when Kerkar, then Ortiz, got on instead.
  10. I have a lot of admiration for Paul Scholes, good to see a fellow asthmatic reach the top of his sport and stay there for so long.
  11. The only emotion I felt as I left the stadium in Manchester was a kind of angry disappointment that I had just watched a Rangers team play in a European final and not at any point had I felt we were going to win the game.
  12. I wouldn't appoint him to manage whales, never mind Wales.
  13. I filled up a bit watching Albertz and Tugay doing a lap of honour after their last game but put that down to the fact my old man had died two weeks earlier and I had spent most of the game looking up at our old seats in the main stand. Also found it very emotional when I went to pay my respects to Coop and saw the sea of tributes at the gates.
  14. And the Hearts fans thought they had a clown of a chairman then in Chris Robinson.
  15. Grossly over-valued when we signed him. I would accept £2m with the condition that they take McCulloch as well.
  16. Can't help feeling that in a year or two he will be long gone and forgotten.
  17. The day Terry Butcher signed for us I was over at Ibrox for a ticket for the upcoming friendly against Bayern Munich, and as I walked past the main entrance Butcher was standing there alone, in his new Rangers blazer and tie. I went up and shook his hand and wished him well, and got him to sign my Bayern ticket. I kept it for years until I read extracts from his autobiography, then it went in the bin.
  18. Rough's from Knightswood and Miller's from Drumchapel, maybe it's an old grudge from Alex's ice-cream van days.
  19. I've tried to find if I have a family link to any country so I can have an interest in how they get on. I found out my granny was from Donegal, ROI and my granda fought against the Germans. So it's Germany for me.
  20. I think I was on strike at the time, as I know it was a weekday and I walked down to my local shop for a paper. In those days I bought the Daily Record - I saw the front page of The Sun with the "Mo Johnston Signs For Rangers" headline and dismissed it as typical Sun front-page shite. It wasn't till I went home and heard it on the TV or radio that I believed it. Still clearly remember going to Broomfield for his debut - the mhedia were desperate for something to kick off, but much to their disappointment he got a good reception before the game and his every touch was applauded.
