  1. No, passageway 19 was in the Rangers End, nearest to the Main Stand. And the gates were at that end prior to the stadium being modernised from 1978. Now the original gates are at the other end with a shoddy replica in the vicinity of their old location.
  2. I wasn't at the game but we lived about mid way between Ibrox Stadium and the Southern General Hospital and I've never forgotten the sound of so many sirens through the fog that night.
  3. Great pic. Must be pre-1966 at least, before the Rangers End was covered.
  4. Maybe we're signing Novo to buddy up with Ortiz, like we signed Kerkar so Bougy would have someone to go to the pictures with.
  5. I have always felt our players should wear black armbands in the fixture on or nearest the 2nd of January every year. Always Remembered.
  6. We do have the players to win comfortably, my worry is if there's no early breakthrough and a few misplaced passes, the Bears can get restless and before you know it Lafferty's "scared to play at Ibrox" syndrome manifests itself again.
  7. I've seen many Rangers sides run out for the game after a bad result and stand up and be counted. The one that sticks out in my mind is after Hamilton put Souness's team out the Scottish Cup in 1987 - next game Butcher led the team sprinting out of the tunnel at Tynecastle and we took five off of Hearts that day. Sadly I'm starting to think the current team just doesn't have the heart (no pun intended) to do that on Monday. There doesn't look to be much leadership and inspiration there apart from maybe Bocanegra, and I'm beginning to doubt Ally's motivational skills - how many games is it now where he has he promised improvement and there's been none?
  8. Or the crest shown in the link? I would keep the Gallant Pioneers link for the 150 year anniversary. Hopefully we won't just still be around in 2022 but be bigger and stronger than ever.
  9. Great to see this milestone being recognised.
  10. Channel 53something on Virgin for BBC England
  11. I should have clarified that, I meant "we" as a club, not as a support.
  12. Deluded or not, the tarriers think they belong at that level. For the past few years our attitude seems to have been "we're only in the SPL, we don't deserve to be regarded as a big club".
  13. To be honest I haven't heard of a lot of the players we (or the tarriers) are linked with these days. Although I'm an old git who has never played any Football Manager games on my computer.
  14. When Celtic struggle, many in the mhedia worry, ask questions and demand solutions. When Rangers struggle, they laugh.
  15. Butcher flopped at Coventry, Sunderland and even Sydney United. Motherwell and Inverness are his true level.
  16. Totally unprofessional from Healy, but that was a supporter's tackle. We can all imagine ourselves running on in that game and just wanting to go through the first tarrier we can get near. Maybe an indication he's off in the window? Same thing but not nearly as bad as Stokes' first-minute assault on Papac last year.
  17. If the loss of any one player impacts a team so badly, it's down to poor management.
  18. If Ally ever gets us past Juventus and PSV and throws away the title in the last game like Greig did I wouldn't be too harsh on him.
  19. Who is realistically going to pay big money for either of them the way have been playing ? Jelavic is looking quite ordinary in the SPL, is any Premiership club outside the usual relegation fodder going to think he can improve them? He could end up at a West Brom or QPR and be in the Championship next year. Davis has had two attempts at establishing himself in the Premiership and was punted each time - Villa got shot of him to Fulham then they unloaded him to us. He's more Championship standard these days.

  21. I had family up in the flats, in the summer holidays we would stand on the verandah and watch the players training in the Albion.
  22. Back in the 70s I sold a spare at Bridgeton station for face value - 60p if I remember correctly. When I got to the piggery I discovered someone had dipped my back pocket and stolen my own ticket. I ended up paying £4 for another, and the game turned out a shite 0-0 draw.
  23. I heard a story years ago that Rangers went to watch Dalglish but were so impressed by the guy playing against him that they signed him instead - Gus McCallum. Probably a myth, you hear so many of these stories.
