  1. Going to the midfield two made it even worse - Lundstrum is better than Jack in the defensive midfield role and Kamara doesn’t impact the game as his first instinct is to secure possession / find a safe pass. That midfield two means we are limited through the middle. Tav was poor but think he may be suffering from having an out and out winger infront of him taking up the space he wants to move into. Lawrence would have been a better option in my opinion. From what I’ve seen he is more inclined to come inside, offers more support to Colak and frees up the right hand side for Tav to attack.
  2. Fucking scunnered with that. The tactics were all wrong and too many didn’t show up tonight. Midfield 3 of Lundstrum, Kamara and Jack has too little creativity. Back line looked ropey as fuck, hopefully Davis and Yilmaz are in from now on as that left side is chronic. McLaughlin needs to up his game if he wants to be long term number 1. Woeful for their first and nearly repeated it with the shot they eventually got the penalty from. Kamara offers fuck all in terms of influencing the game, loves possession but is far too conservative and breaks down attacks. Getting worried by Colak’s non involvement in games. The service up to him has been non existent but he needs to try and get involved more. Gio needs to start letting us take the hand break off against teams. We need to get back to pressing and quick transitions and away from slow possession. Big task ahead of us next week but hopefully some more time for new guys to settle in and at least Kent back. Need an early goal as if we really need to chase the game they look more than comfortable at sitting in and are dangerous on the break.
  3. Same performance I have been moaning about from Kamara for ages. He likes possession too much and usually slows down / kills an attack which is criminal when we are playing him as a number 10. Tillman or Arfield should have been in that role tonight with Wright, Lawrence or even Sakala out wide.
  4. VAR is being spoken about like it is going to solve all the problems. There are a myriad of minor decisions that our referees don’t / won’t call correctly which VAR will not be able to step in on.
  5. Are they not running it “behind the scenes” for the start of the season to get everyone trained up / to iron out any bugs etc and then bringing it in after the WC?
  6. Massive statement of intent of the club can get this over the line. The player trading model is obviously the future for us but we also need to be able to hold on to some of our top talent along the way as well
  7. The lack of investment, vision and leadership within Scotland is always going to hold us back. Need a proper shake up of how the game is structured and run but too many only interested in protecting their own little patch to see bigger picture and act.
  8. Primarily he set us up / sent us out to play as if Alfie was there when we all know Roofe cannot play in the same way. Obviously losing Alfie in the current context of our squad set up is huge but to not try and counter that left us pretty toothless upfront. To me we needed someone much nearer Roofe through the game, I think we tried to have Ramsey making late runs off of Roofe, but he can’t hold the ball up as well so a lot of the runs were being wasted. Also the old criticism of his subs (or lack of) was an issue for me again, the game was slipping away in the second half and I don’t think he really tried anything different. The subs (which in my opinion were wrong personnel off and on) kept the shape the same. We put Sakala wide and for all he lacks we at least started to play a bit more down the right, but we didn’t have a mouth bodies in the box causing issues, looking for seconds. I agree that he can’t account for poor performances, but he has the ability to change half his starting 11 if they aren’t performing. What reason was there for keeping on Aribo for the full 90? Why not try to switch to a 5 at the back and put two through the middle up top, or push whoever was playing the 10 further up and play a 4 2 4 for a while, or even ask the two wide men to come inside a little, clear the wings for Bassey and Tav and be more of a presence through the middle? Basically try something different when it was starting to slip away…
  9. It is taking the whole picture into account, including it during the Coronavirus economic period when most companies were downsizing on advertising / commercial partnerships. Similar to the Castore deal Bisgrove is, for me, going to be really judged on the next round of deals / renewals. It’s all very well comparing us to them but we had a relative black hole in our history (lower leagues, no European exposure, questionable ownership, questionable accounts etc) which I doubt many of the blue chip partners we would like to deal with are going to just look beyond because the new board say “yeah but that is all going to be different going forward”. The last 3 seasons has changed that and should in theory open some doors which have previously been closed and I am expecting our marketing revenues to take a significant increase on the back of that.
  10. If you read the rest of the comments looks like the guy has had a bit of a mate trying to explain it and has a hint of making stuff up to seem ITK… The bit of law he is quoting is referring to a player stepping across another player and blocking a run and then is throwing some “in the progress of kicking” comment from a briefing he was apparently at without anything to back it up.
  11. Europa League for me. Them winning anything obviously hurts but the Europa League winners get automatic entry to the CL and the boost to our reputation (outside of Scotland 😂) would be massive - both in terms of being a name that can attract a higher level of player and potential commercial deals available. After 2012 I am never going to take anything for granted but realistically we are going to win our fair share of league titles going forward, with the way finances (and gerrymandering of rules to suit the “elite” clubs) in Europe are going European success is going to become more and more difficult.
  12. Not saying it is scientific but have heard a few footballers recently talk about how the length of time they were out with injury being roughly the same length of time it has taken them to get form and fitness fully back to where they were pre injury.
  13. Not really a surprise. Speirs writes an article and then only engages in Twitter. Throws out whataboutery and then ignores responses to shut down discussion. Keevins uses it mostly on a phone-in where the host / show isn’t there to set him up for a fall so gets to throw out the whataboutery argument and then, again, shut down the discussion. That is the main issue for me in all of this. Until we get voices in the press and (perhaps more importantly) political discourse that are willing / allowed to be equally vociferous in our defence the narrative is going to remain one sided. Unfortunately our ex-players in the media still try / are forced to play the game fairly (and for some that is a very kind interpretation of their output) and any politicians who would be minded to stand up for us have seen the topic as toxic to their future prospects as our detractors have been organised and launch attacks on anyone who is willing to raise their head above the parapet in opposition to the current narrative.
  14. @The Dude Also can’t be arsed trolling through the thread but weren’t you arguing in the Heart & Hand thread that nothing would come of reporting the Daily Record reporters? Why the change of heart when it comes to Spiers?
  15. Unfortunately doubt it. Unless they are taking action for rank hypocrisy and a general lack of morals on his part then I can’t see any action being taken. As I said far too easy for him to argue for his articles as arguing for rehabilitation and second chances and turn any action against him into him being the victim (again).
  16. Unless I have missed something there isn’t really anything for them to take action on unfortunately, other than the highly questionable piece on Rix, which while was really distasteful could be argued away as a belief in rehabilitation and giving people second chance. He is a troll who rarely hides his disdain for us and I would argue that his selective reporting and rhetoric only serves to contribute to the issue by emboldening anti-Protestant bigotry / anti-British racism, however I can’t recall him ever actually “stepping over the line” to the point his employers could / would take action in the same way the tweets from the DR reporters have. Hope I am wrong though as generally I think the discourse would be far better with fewer voices like his and more honest and balanced reporting; maybe if politicians and editors (as well as reports taking responsibility for their own work) had taken this view for the last decade we would be much further down the line in dealing with these issues positively.
  17. I think there is a player in Ejaria, but there were a couple of times tonight when he received the ball and his first instinct is to shield the ball and wait for a tackle to come in which slowed the play down / led to us loosing possession.
  18. I don’t think it is the individuals as much as three players who weren’t getting their balance and shape right in the first half. Being played through is always going to be a risk when playing a pressing game if you don’t do it right. It will improve as the team plays together more throughout the season.
  19. I can't see how it can be limited to attendance over simply buying a ticket. The Club Deck was closed for the first couple of games with paper tickets issued for elsewhere in the ground. As posters above have mentioned I will be raging if I am being punished in the ballot on the basis of Smartcard not being used when I couldn't use it to access my seat!
  20. They aren't. There had one of their cringe worthy adverts on the radio last week telling the obsessed all their discounted season tickets weren't valid for the biggest team in Scotland visiting them and they would need to upgrade to a full ticket.
  21. Due to an unfortunately timed holiday (!) couldn't make the game today, but managed to watch it in the Bluebell Bar in Costa Teguise. Big shout out to all the guys there, so proud to see bears flying the flag so far away from home, and always nice to watch the gers win in the sun (both in Glasgow and Lanzarote!)
  22. Hey mate, Never donated before so this seems like a good time to start. Put me down for a tenner. Can you PM me the details of how to transfer the money?
