  1. A close friend is a Motherwell season ticket holder and he thinks they are doomed. Almost certain to be in the Championship next season. He did say that they look good going forward but are a shambles at the back. He said that McManus is a complete donkey and will be shown up by us. I have to say I do fear McDonald. He is a bit older now but he was a decent player before. They also have a young guy called Erwin who is keeping Sutton out the team. He is tall and quick, which might be a bit of a nightmare for our defence! All in all we have a cracking chance to go up here and for McCall to take us forward!
  2. Keep hearing people say that but they signed a fair amount of players in January and changed their side.
  3. Think we need to concentrate on getting top flight and being competitive with the likes of Aberdeen, United, Hearts and Hibs before we think about titles and Europe. I reckon it will take 3 years back in the top flight before we even put up any sort of worthwhile challenge to them!
  4. He married one. Must have really hated them!
  5. Think people are being harsh on Higdon. He was POTY for the SPL at Motherwell, went to Holland and was top scorer for his new club before moving to Sheff Utd where admittedly it hasn't come off for him due to injury. Ojamma and Higdon together would be a great partnership. Add to that Vukic and Nicky Law and we have a strong attacking line up. Centre half is always going to be a problem until we get rid of the imposters and replace with quality. If we end up with another season in the Championship, would fans not rather that we copied the very successful Hearts model from this season? Seems people just want us to go out and sign experienced players rather than have a mix of youth and senior pros.
  6. I suspect that from an insurance perspective it would have to be reported to the police. Insurance company would need a crime reference number to proceed. Pinch of salt.
  7. Spoke with my 'Well supporting mate last night not long after the game. He again was talking about McCall's lack of a Plan B, should his initial tactics not work then he struggles to change it. He said he did have a good Plan A at Motherwell. As for the budget they were paying, seems people were miles off. The budget was roughly around 8th/9th in the SPL, HOWEVER players contracts had a really heavy bonus payment if they got best of the rest, which according to him was almost all the money they made extra from finishing a few places lower down. Seems to me like building your house on sand! He also mentioned that they never lost too many players last summer, notably Hutchinson at centre half and McFadden (who didn't perform last season). He just failed to use the money available to him and dished out stupid contracts to players who didn't deserve them. He also did not have 1 pre season match before they got papped out of the Europa League to some mob from Iceland. Players looked unfit and uninterested. From an outsider to the Job he done with them it would look impressive but according to my mate, he chucked it well before he officialy did. Not the man we need at Ibrox. Doesn't have the calibre to be a long standing Rangers manager.
  8. Surely the biggest lesson is not to get carried away after a couple of good results? We have all seen the massive problems in the team over the season and they were never going to be sorted overnight. McCall is NOT the man to move us forward (I've said that since day 1). The guy doesn't have the bottle for it and his record in knock out competitions is worse than shocking so don't hold out much hope for the play offs. Our current lot in defence is a shambles and we can't rely on Boyd/Miller/Clark/Vuckic to score more than we conceed. We will go again into the next match but my feet are firmly on the ground and eyes wide open!
  9. What the hell was he doing for the first goal? He tried to put his body across the man, failed terribly and then claimed a foul. Never in a million years was it a foul! He has really never really fulfilled his early hype when he joined. Really did think he was going to be one of the best full backs this country has ever produced. All round disappointed and no amount of badge kissing is going to change my opinion on him.
  10. After seeing the way Motherwell attacked last night I think our defence would struggle. The pace and movement of the front 4 was very good for a team of that level. Their defence does look shakey and Templeton/Law/Vukic could get a lot of joy driving at them. Reckon my preference would be Killie.
  11. Think we need to settle down just a little. For me McCall has done a good job so far but it is what I would expect from any competent manager with the squad available to him. Even with the up turn in form we are going to come up against Ross County or Motherwell in the play offs, both of whom have seriously turned their form around. Also the comments that McCall knows the Motherwell side is bollocks as more than half of the team that played for them on Saturday were signed after he left the club. Let's not get carried away. If he delivers a play off win then reward him, if not then don't let the door hit you on the way out!
  12. Anyone ever experienced the Amsterdam Arena before a match? Was in Amsterdam with the missus and took her to Holland v Romania a couple of years ago. They have a cracking set up for fans to gather before the match for food and beers. Food was a notch up from fast food but done the job and the bar downstairs had music and a healthy selection of beers. Fan zones like that would be superb for bringing supporters together before a match but also earn some revenue for the club. Worth a thought...
  13. Can not under estimate how important momentum is going into the play offs. A confident team who are winning will steam roll a Motherwell/St Mirren/County who have been losing most weeks. Confidence is a massive part of football. What a story it would be for McCall to relegate Motherwell. Would piss myself laughing!
  14. Looking forward to it. I'm a proud Scot as well as a Bear. No idea why some will be supporting NI over the country of your birth. Reminds me quite a bit of those plastic ROI fans from across the city...
  15. THe last post is spot on. We are the most easily offended at the moment. Looking for any excuse. People in glass houses should also not be throwing stones!
  16. Also to add. I spoke with a Motherwell season ticket holder from work about McCall. Despite being very complimentary about what he achieved he did say that he made some really bizarre decisions around selection/tactics, had his favourites despite poor form and bottled almost every big match they played in. I'm not convinced by him one little bit.
  17. McCall struggled at Motherwell the only time there were real issues (partially caused by budget cuts but also his poor signings). He walked as he didn't feel he could turn it around. Why on earth would we decide that he was therefore the man to turn us around? Makes no sense. He jumped from one sinking ship he couldn't save to another. Completely wrong appointment, even in a short term in our circumstances. Should have been an old head to steady the ship.
  18. Some people really have no clue about football. It scares me!
  19. Talk of not making the play offs is madness. QOS and Falkirk still need to play the same teams we do. They will drop plenty of points. It's going to be really tough in the play offs but if by some miracle we beat Hibs then we will beat either St Mirren/Motherwell/Ross County in the final as they are worse than murder!
  20. He will come good. He is our most talented player and McCall will get the best out of him. Is he out on contract in the summer?
  21. Anything but positive. I can see us taking another tanking here. They are on form and full of confidence. I wouldn't be surprised if McCall sets us up for damage limitation and concentrate of winning the other fixtures. Sad state of affairs!
  22. Anyone Happy with this never seen Motherwell at the start of the season. They were and still are a shambles. Likely to meet in the play off too...
  23. Totally for the out the box thinking but we need to be a little more realistic. The Scottish game is not a big pull.
  24. Doubt this is going to happen. The set up, as mentioned above, is going to be a head coach and a DOF. I really want us to go for a foreign manager and allow him to make the changes that PLG wasn't. This is the time to completely change the club and that is the way to do it. Do have a terrible feeling that it's going to be more jobs for the boys!
