  1. I think you are right. If we are skint (and we seem to be) then why split the money available over two appointments (ie DoF and manager) instead of pooling the cash and going for a better managerial appointment?
  2. There's a dawning realisation about how far we have sunk when we are having to consider this alleged short list of candidates who are meant to be able to take us back to the top level domestically and have decent runs in Europe. Not one of the names now in the frame inspires much confidence in a being able to do these things.
  3. The fans were signing Ranieri's name earlier in the game.
  4. Leicester giving them a doing. Great stuff.
  5. MCoist needs to stick with making a tube of himself in those lucrative TV ads.
  6. Being Rangers goalkeeper was too big a job for Bell.
  7. Don't pundits have to be able to speak proper English? Of course, that doesn't apply with BBC Scotland, so he might be OK.
  8. But according to Barry it's due to the fact that he is working with part-time players. What about the other teams in that league with their part-time squads? Don't bother Barry with facts ...
  9. Ok, so there is a manager out there with a 20% win rate with an English club, and a 39% win rate with a club in the lowest division in Scotland, with that club currently sitting third from bottom. Should this guy be considered for a role at Rangers? Oh, but wait a minute, he's a true blue 'Rangers man' and he used to play for us, so of course we must have him ...
  10. Have another look at where Clyde are now in the table ... And then there's the great success he had at Blackpool.
  11. I would not renew at any price if this happens. Prefer to pay on an occasional game by game basis than throw money at that.
  12. Really hope you are right about the Board. King must be getting desperate though, and he might think a move like this would appease fans. It would be catastrophic. One look at Ferguson's managerial/coaching record should be enough to rule him out of any role at Ibrox.
  13. If Ferguson arrives at Ibrox in any capacity we will know for sure that the club is totally screwed.
  14. Before anyone seriously proposes this guy for a role at Ibrox they need to have a close look at where Clyde are in the table, and at his coaching 'career' to date.
  15. I think conspiring to talk down the share value of a company in order to acquire it on the cheap, and then dismantling the governance arrangements in order to ensure that shareholders can't hold you fully accountable, counts as corruption, or something pretty close to it.
  16. Even if King somehow pulls a rabbit out of the hat with a managerial appointment that convinces people to renew season tickets, we will still be in serious trouble. The new manager will have the same type of transfer budget we have had over the past year or so, and the club will be relying on the ST money plus the soft loans to keep afloat. There will be no outside investment in Rangers while King is around, as he is widely seen in the business world for what he is - utterly toxic. His promises to leverage fresh income into the club have not surprisingly come to nothing. We are where we have been for the past few years - in desperate need of a major outsider or consortium to buy out a corrupt regime and provide the level of financing required to take us back where we belong. Can't see it happening any day soon though.
  17. My understanding of the statements made by King and co when they took over was that they would be investing enough to move the club forward, within limits, but would be seeking additional investment from other sources in due course, to take us to the next level. Despite their bluster, it was very clear they they did not have the required amounts to take us forward in the longer term. The additional investment has not materialised, partly, I think, due to the broader crisis in the financial markets, but partly because King is a rather toxic individual, and there will not be a queue of people waiting to get into bed with him financially. I share your daily hope about a newcomer who will buy out the King regime, but can't see who that might be, or where they might come from.
  18. It was much, much more of a shambles because we were playing at a lower level.
  19. Very difficult, I think. King has been smart enough to to cut away the normal governance arrangements in order to give him and his cronies a free hand. Unless someone comes in and makes him an offer he can't refuse, I reckon we are stuck with him.
  20. Me too. Despite that, was prepared to suspend judgement and give him the benefit of the doubt for a while, but it is very clear that no additional investment will come to the club while he is in charge, and his gross mismanagement is now creating serious problems for us. He will be desperately trying to find some rabbits to pull of of the hat before season ticket renewals come up.
  21. Absolutely. King and co managed to spin the lie that they were the only serious game in town, and, of course, they were good old "Rangers men' so that was all that mattered. Spare us from these good old boys.
