  1. As a former left back I used to love Roberto Carlos. His tree trunk legs firing him up and down that left hand side then taking 30-40 yard free kicks that would do absolutely nothing 90% of the time and end up with a screamer the other few times 😂 I think it was that free kick against France in that mini tournament that got me hooked. B Laudrup, Ronaldo and Ronaldhino were the others. I feel quite lucky thinking of the players that were around when I was a young lad. Also, I know it's a bit tongue in cheek but I have to agree with the guys saying Delap and Le Tissier. With Delap's throw-ins you were seeing something that genuinely nobody else could do. And Le Tissier would always pull something out of the bag that had you saying, "holy shit!".
  2. How do you know that? I'm not doubting you, I'm just wondering how you know.
  3. 😂 I agree, it was a shite result. I'm just saying that people saying it was a missed opportunity are assuming that the Homer and Barts would've definitely won yesterday regardless of our result. Albeit, I'm not saying they wouldn't have. I'm just trying to ride the rollercoaster of a title race and looking to console myself that we got a gift yesterday, rather than looking at Saturday as a missed opportunity. Trying to keep a lid on the tension.
  4. I agree. I think it's a bullshit rule but at least it was consistent - at least as applied to us - and I've had to make my peace with it, otherwise I'd burn up in rage.
  5. A lot of people saying Saturday was a missed opportunity but there's no guarantee their game yesterday would've gone the way it did had we won our game. These don't occur in a vacuum. I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth on this one and just accepting the good fortune. I just want the team to now really focus on the fact their are only nine league games to go and give it their all in each one. That's surely not too hard to get in the zone for.
  6. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The reason given, which I reluctantly accepted, and was the case with Morelos as well, was that Dessers didn't have control of the ball before the defender hit the back of his leg. I've just seen a short clip of the incident so I don't know if the scum player had control of the ball prior to the clip but it doesn't look like it. It looked like the two of them were running for a ball which neither of them had control over.
  7. Your bit re: the interviewer, I was thinking the same thing. I thought about giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was just giving Rodgers enough rope to hang himself but I'm not so sure.
  8. See Pat Bonner, he's such a fucking mouth-piece for that lot. You want to hear him making excuses for them in order to quell any rising questions about Rodgers and his team. Going on about the Motherwell injury time win as a turning point along with humping Dundee and that this result doesn't mean anything and they were a victim of circumstances. How about you flip that around and say this result plus needing two injury time goals against Motherwell are a bad sign?
  9. I'm trying to be philosophical about the result. We all knew we weren't going to go the rest of the season unbeaten and that a defeat was probably gonna come from an unlikely source - although I didn't expect Motherwell at home! Even if the filth win tomorrow it's still only one point and it's still a title race we're in. There were always going to be ups and down. We've all just been so long out of having a title race that we've forgot this feeling. They just need to make sure that they pick it up the next game.
  10. Not wanting to over-egg the importance of Kilmarnock but I do wonder how big a part they're going to play in whoever wins the title after the break. I'm guessing either us or them are going to have to go to Rugby Park. A deciding game at Kilmarnock would be a nightmare. Hopefully we'll have it wrapped up well before then - or even win at the paedo dome 💪
  11. Big, big win tonight. Hopefully we don't have to go back there after the break.
  12. While I would take any win, it'd be good to put down a marker with a dominant win against another in form team and send a message out to the rest of the league. But, I'll take a scrappy 0-1.
  13. Motherwell were basically just hoofing the ball up the park that whole second half and never gave their forwards any chance. Typical tramps though 😡
  14. As a guy who played as a defender it was always a bug bear of mine that forwards could miss chance after chance then get called a game winner if they tucked away a tap in and we won 1-0 but if I fucked up once and we lost a goal and we drew or lost because of that then I was a point loser. The reason I'm saying this, is that forwards always have missed chances, it's just part of the game. They can't score every opportunity.
  15. Yeah, I know historically Benfica are a good team but I'm not sure what level they're at now and whether we're in with a chance. But it's at least not Liverpool or Milan.
  16. Thing is, he hasn't "been through it before" certainly not successfully. The first time he was here we were a shit show and they had no challenge and when he was at Liverpool they fucked it.
  17. The wife's 40th that day 🤦🏻
  18. I think both things could be true. Doesn't matter now though.
  19. I agree. While he's not been firing shots in left, right and centre I thought him and Cantwell have been pretty effective at moving and passing and stretching the sheep
  20. True. But the commentators are raving about Miovski's strength to hold off Goldson when I just wonder how much of that is due to having a hold of his shirt.
  21. I'm probably clutching but in that replay it looks like Miovski's got a handful of Goldson's shirt. Is that permitted?
  22. When you think that's what could happen in that scenario it gives all the more reason to want to scud these fuckers.
  23. It doesn't seem like there are any easy ties outwith Braga v Qarabag. I don't know anything about other euro leagues now so I'm not sure if Lens v Freiburg is a favourable one, too. The rest of the draws all look to be spewing out a difficult team.
  24. I'm not getting carried away, just theorising, but if we were to get to the final they surely couldn't still hold it in Dublin - it'd be carnage.
