  1. Great players, poor team. Some incredibly poor results recently and you sense there's a lack of discipline, when it comes to playing for the national team. They need a manager with real authority it seems, not sure if Leekens is the answer, but the tools are all there. Kompany, Vermaelen and Van Buyten as defenders, Fellaini, Hazard, Defour, Verthongen, Witsel midfielders and a huge talent in Lukaku up front along with the likes of Dembele and Mirallas. Looks very strong on paper, they are the weakest in goal though, lack of experience in that department as well.
  2. The irony is that Odemwingie's mum is Russian, well Tatar to be precise. And then you also read bullshit like this: A spokesman for the Russian embassy in London said: "So far we don't see any reasons to dramatise this, since in Russian student slang 'to get a banana' means to fail a test, and Odemwingie was seen by many fans in Moscow as not perhaps the best performer. But it's their own judgment."
  3. Windowed, 3d, zoomed vertical or whatever the view's name is, key highlights.
  4. Well he's definitely an upgrade over Routledge.
  5. It's been said today that apparently Rennes want 15m, while Sunderland are offering 10m plus add-ons.
  6. What a fucking goal. He may be a bit old, but he has the enthusiasm of a teenager lol.
  7. It's the flag of Genoa (town), St George is Genoa's patron saint. However a lot of teams in Italy were founded by Englishmen (Genoa, AC Milan). I don't think Sampdoria was one of them.
  8. First two Anderlecht penalties were fantastic, Jonny Wilkinson would've been proud.
  9. Although to be fair technically that's why Fabregas left Barcelona for Arsenal.
  10. This might not be the performance anyone would think of, but one of the best I've seen in football was David Beckham against Greece in 2001 in WC qualies. His determination in that one was out of this world, he was everywhere on the pitch.
  11. Am I the only one that sees some innuendo with the Ryder Cup (Ride-her) being included.
  12. Italia 90. Argentina shocked in the opening game, Milla, Higuita, Goycochea the penalty saving legend, Zenga without conceding a goal till the defeat against Argentina in the quarters etc.
  13. West Brom sold their kit sponsorship on a match to match basis for couple of games last year.
  14. Quite surprised by this. Very good signing for Wolfsburg, they have some transfer history with Palermo having signed Barzagli and Zaccardo from them in the past. Wolfsburg confirmed the Friedrich signing last week, but I guess it went under the radar a bit with the WC frenzy. The fee is something like 2 or 3 million Euros I believe, ridiculously low. Remember that Wolfsburg still have most of the title winning players in the team and if they don't sell someone like Dzeko, they'll be a force to be reckoned with in the Bundesliga.
  15. Makes sense, most of the Algerian national team is as well.
  16. He has a decent right foot, didn't two of Korea's goals come from his set pieces? Cha Du-Ri was first a striker, played there, when he first got to Europe, but his finishing is shit, so he was moved around, because of his work rate. He's not a natural defender, his bad positioning cost the Koreans a goal against Nigeria, where he allowed the Nigeria to run past him for a simple finish.
  17. Amazing voice, highlight of the game so far. Sounds like James Earl Jones as it was pointed out in the Guardian live text as well. Franck Ribery, I am your father.
  18. He was very good at Koln, while on loan, but they couldn't afford him. I guess United just decided to cut their losses and sell him. With their financial situation they need all the money they can raise, if they want to sign anyone.
  19. All this transfer talk means that again other teams will also profit by getting Real players on the cheap (the likes of Van der Vaart for example).
  20. It was stupid, yes. I don't think they believed that Bordeaux would match the agreed fee, when they took him on loan. Idiots.
  21. What a PR disaster this team announcement has been for England with the names of those not being in leaked by journalists on twitter, before any official annoucement, not to mention rumours flying about of who is in, who is out. Poorly executed.
  22. I'm sure they'll release a sponsor-less top soon, they just want the people to get the one with sponsor, so they have only made the sponsor one available at the moment.
