Nah, I don’t think he had any intention of bringing Cantwell on. We brought Wright on

I think Wright was more about pace, he's a brutal option though, the fact he didn't do too badly makes it even worse, just makes you think someone with a bit more quality would've had more joy.

I reckon you could be right about Cantwell. Souttar was injured as confirmed by Clement in his post match interview. Sky at the game got that one wrong for some bizzare reason.

Ahh right, I had turned it well off by the time they did the interviews, only heard Sky saying it wasn't an injury, weird how they got that one wrong, wonder if that was our info and we just wanted to give them something to think about instead of letting them know it was a needs must sub.

Why? He did today in a game that was worth more financially to the club than the cup final will be

I think the plan would've been to use him later on but the sending off meant we had to bring Raskin on to get fresh legs in the middle of the park and it probably stiffled his options.

Although I'm still not sure why we kept Lawrence on and took Souttar off.

Precisely why neither side will dominate the league for years and years. There’s a huge slice of luck with signings in this league in terms of what ends up working out for the money

The tims starting XI today didn't have a single player signed in the last two transfer windows in it, they had an even worse summer than us last year, but the players they've got are experienced at getting over thr line up here.

There was a shape/structure today, we tried to go man for man in the middle. Whether it worked or not we can debate but we had a game plan.

It definitely didn't work, the only time we looked dangerous in that first half was when we were launching diagonals into their box, they were passing the ball through us for fun before Lundstram got sent off, we had our moments and I thought Silva gave Johnston his hardest Old Firm game, but I don't think the shape or structure worked, not having the personnel didn't help though.

Tbf you've got to question wtf they are doing though 😂 celtic get abused in Europe, and in Scotland are expected to beat most sides.

No player in Scotland has done anything to attract AM, unless they're having a crisis.

I didn't watch it but was it not his performance against them at the piggery in the CL that convinced Atletico to bid for him?

    Tierney, bassey and who else?

Jota and Dembele, think the sell on they got for Van Dijk also took that whole deal over 20m

The reason they get top dollar for their players is because they don't hoard them, they do 2/3 years tops and away they go, this is what I was talking about the other day, we should've sold Morelos in 2020, Borna in 2021 and Kent after the Europa Final in 2022, but we constantly hold onto players to long until their value completely disintegrates, we become stale, they become stale, and then we need to generate funds from elswhere to reinvigorate the squad.

One thing that's often overlooked from that season aswell is I think just about every one of our Scottish cup ties went to a replay with even the semi going all the way to penalties against st Johnstone

In spite of everything the SPL and SFA did to hinder us if they jammy bastards don't get that last minute goal in the rearranged midweek game at the piggery we probably go on and win that title

Think the only cup tie that didn't go to a replay was the first one in round three, but the original game got postponed because our pitch was flooded, so that got shifted into the replay schedule, so it felt like a replay.

Totally understood Walter trying to freshen up the squad in those cup ties, but it never done us any favours, just gave us even more games to play.

That last minute goal was a sickener because the tims had given up, week before it Motherwell beat them at the piggery, Boab Malcome got sent off and the whole stadium was changing "Strachan Strachan get to fuck", that win over us gave them belief they never had from about November that season, Cuellar's save on the line was all for nothing.

Even if that miracle were to happen then we still need to go to Tynecastle. They cunts and their scummy fans would do everything they can to fuck us up from winning the league there. Probably won’t matter anyway as we fucked it weeks ago. I hope to fuck I’m wrong but I honestly can’t see anything other than loss on Saturday - just can’t shift how I feel about it. Hate the thought of that tranny shagging weirdo lifting another title as well. 🤮

That's the way it should always be with everyone, that being said, if we need goals on the last day of the season I'd rather be playing Hearts than anyone else, we always pump them, especially when it matters.

  10. Wonder why Lens would sell him so soon, paid about £3.75m for him last summer, I'd imagine given the fact he'd only had around 30 first team career appearances, they never assumed he was someone who would go there and pull up trees right away, you'd think they would've had a long term(ish) plan to develop him, would seem strange to just let him go so soon.

TC sums up the new generation who need to express their feelings via social media. And those who only appear after a win. It was nice to see Tom Lawrence put up his goal from Sunday. But it's silence when we cant beat Ross County or Dundee.

I get your frustration but what benefit would be to Lawrence or anyone else get from posting things after a bad result? All it would do is bring them negativity, even if there's 100 nice comments, the anger would far outweight any positivity.

Heard that for just about every player we've signed under 25.

I think we could've done it too with the likes of Morelos, Borna and Kent if we actually sold them when their value was through the roof, throw in Bassey and Aribo and we've found some great gems over the years, we just had (outwith Bassey) no interest in selling them, particularly when they were at their peak, which is what you have to do for this to work.

Rhys McCabe is a really exciting young manager. If we need somewhere for our youngsters to go on loan and get games he is somebody who I would trust to help develop them. Not only goes he encourages good football, he also has the first hand experience of what is required to make it to our first team.

He's the best young Scottish coach I've seen in years, I remember about 18 months ago a tweet was doing the rounds of an Airdrie goal, that was the first time I even knew he'd took up management, after that I kept an eye out for them, some of their football is outrageous for the level they're at.

Sending players to him should be considered mandatory at this point, not sure what the rules are about how many players you can loan to one lower league club, but I know they extended it to four during covid, unsure if they cut it again, but we should be sending as many as we can to him, if he doesn't get promoted.

The boy won't be in Scottish Football for too long.

Rangers have not won at celtic Park since 2020 and when asked if a victory for Philippe Clement's side would be a shock, Lambert said: "It would be, yes, because on current form and with Rangers’ record there not the best it would be an upset for everybody.

Also supposedly the orks 'look as if they’re bang on it again:sherlock:

The last thing I want the manager to do is show those players that record. 😄😄

  15. Zidane and the real Ronaldo.

Zizou looked like he was playing in slow motion he had so much time on the ball, and Ronaldo ran around players like they were in slow motion, two unbelievable talents, from the last truely great era of football, IMO.

The initial 18 month of Gazza up here is probably the best I've ever seen from any individual Rangers player in my lifetime, the levels he hit in 1995 and throughout 1996 was unrivalled.

Think the success of Hickey/Ferguson will mean a lot more of the young Scottish talent will head away from Scotland to progress rather than come to us or them. Lennon Miller - I would be very surprised to see stay up here, pretty sure EPL clubs are looking at him and clubs elsewhere in Europe.

So they should as well, our league is pish, it's groundhog day, I'd be advising young players to get out their comfort zones, experience different cultures and become a better player and man, Hickey would've signed a bigger contract at Brentford than he would ever get up here and when Ferguson does move, it'll be for eyewatering wages.

As if to prove the point about our reluctance to shop local, which Bologna player was just named Serie A Midfielder Of The Year?

    :headwall:

We should be interested in good players whatever League they're from, I think Ferguson was a no brainer back in 2022, same as Aaron Hickey was a no brainer the year earlier, there's certain players that you can just see there potentiel, that doesn't mean anyone else should be considered just because they're doing well in that same league, Ferguson and Hickey had serious potentiel along with a professionalism and maturity in their game, you only need to look at Shankland's shape to see he hasn't had that same professionalism.

He reminds me of Boyd, just not as good, and with the way the game has changed in the last 15 years, I'm not sure there's a place at clubs like ours for those kind of players anymore, guys who are literally a man down unless they can score you a goal.
