Margaret Ferguson was only 18 years old when she lost her life at Ibrox Stadium on the 2nd January 1971.
She was also the only female to die in the tragedy.
Over the last couple of years ,as part of our Restoration of Rangers Graves Project, our colleague Chris Beglin has restored the bench in Markinch, which had been placed in memory of the five boys who tragically died that fateful day, and the Robert Mulholland memorial bench in Glasgow.
With this in mind we were contacted in January by Ian McLeod Milne ,who organises the Annual Supporters Memorial Service at Ibrox, with a view to restoring the bench that had been placed in memory of Margaret at Muiravonside Cemetery.
Subsequently I had the pleasure of meeting Margaret’s sister Mary at the Ibrox Memorial Service earlier this year.
We contacted Falkirk Council and they gave their consent for the bench to be removed, restored and put back in place.
Once again our man Chris, and his colleague Stevie, got to work and we’re delighted to say that Margaret’s bench has been restored and was put back in place today with her sister Mary and niece Annette in attendance.
Our sister Margaret Ferguson will be in our hearts forever.

Any idea the background of The Blue Crow floral tribute??
The type isn't very clear to read but it says that it was a Blue Cross floral tribute.

Amazing that he was thought so highly as a trainer of Rangers they put it on his grave stone.
Great work again folks. 👍👍
Reading that newspaper clip, “Scotia’s Darling Club” oh how times have changed.
Mr Wilton was manager of the Club from 1899 but he would've been very much a figurehead.
It was James Wilson who worked the players daily.

Back in 2015 our research, gleamed from the records at the Mitchell Library, confirmed that a James Wilson who was trainer at Rangers from 1897 until 1914 and a respected individual who also worked tirelessly with the building process of our great Club, had died suddenly after a bout of double pneumonia in 1914 at 21 Princes Street in Govan aged 52 , and was buried at Craigton Cemetery.
Bill Struth who was trainer at Clyde at this time was actually offered Mr Wilson’s job at Rangers but he refused to take another man’s place at our Club, that was to change upon the sudden passing of Mr Wilson. The Club had actually organised a benefit match for Mr Wilson against Everton at Ibrox only a week before he passed.
While James Wilson was trainer at Rangers our Club won:
7 League Titles
2 Scottish Cups
8 Glasgow Cups
6 Glasgow Charity Cups.
We were to discover Mr Wilson’s stone at Craigton Cemetery and were incredibly fortunate that although sadly it was off it’s plinth it was lying on the grass inscription side up.
A real chill went through us as we cleared the earth and moss from James Wilson’s stone and the words ‘’Trainer of Rangers’’ emerged.Since then our Restoration team placed new foundations, put the memorial back in place, cleaned and re-lettered the stone.
James Wilson played a very important role in the success of Rangers and we thought it would be appropriate to place a plaque at the base of his stone highlighting his achievements at our Club.
That work was carried out yesterday.
The plaque was funded by our Restoration of Rangers Graves Project..
James Wilson. Gone but not forgotten.
