  1. But he didn’t do the wrong thing. He’s not a mind reader, he was simply aware and sharp enough to win the ball which is what I’d expect from a professional player.
  2. Haven’t heard Beale’s interview only going what I’ve heard on hear. However, the very fact Beale has ordered the team to let Thistle score when the game is still in the balance suggests to me that he sides with the Thistle player on what happened rather than his own.
  3. If we are going to gift opposition goals every time they start whining that they weren’t ready, or honest we were going to give you it back, we’re not going to win many games against that lot across the city.
  4. They can say he cheated and ,what’s more, his manager thinks so too.
  5. Don’t see how he’s protected him, I think he’s hung him out to dry. Tillman’s still going to criticised for it, even more so when his boss hasn’t defended his action of simply winning the ball. It’s only Beale that comes out like the shining light of sportsmanship.
  6. Have always disliked the informal giving the ball back convention that spawned in the 86 World Cup. Players should play to win at all times, would cut out all the arguments and uncertainties.
  7. Don’t think Tillman did anything wrong, he’s not a mind reader.
  8. Easy to say yes when we won in the end. Suspect opinions might have changed if we ended up sitting at home in May watching that lot parade around Hampden with the trophy. If you’re going to be the sportsmanship hero, you better make sure your team is either lucky or good enough to win.
  9. He’s only signed up until summer 2024, I’m sure. A loan move could be counterproductive for us if he shows up well and gets other clubs interested (particularly if he sees limited opportunity to break into our first team). We need to get him tied up for longer if we’re going to go down the loan option.
  10. 100%. If we’re not going to give the boy a chance when we’ve only the likes of Matondo and Wright to bring on, he’s unlikely to be given the opportunity when Lawrence and Hagi are back.
  11. Being far more positive and winning football matches, particularly away from home. The rest will take care of itself.
  12. Good that we got it done reasonably quick. Let’s hope he instills some confidence in the players and gets us back to winning ways. Will need a bit of time (and luck) to get through the remnants of this season in a moderately successful manner.
  13. If we are going to continue to have Tav and Borna aimlessly crossing the ball into a packed penalty area, Nouble might not be the worst option.
  14. They did the same with Gio. They’re covering their backs until it’s signed and settled so they don’t get burnt at the last minute and look stupid like they did with McInnes.
  15. 1. Any new manager appointment comes with a risk. His limited managerial experience is a downside but a far bigger risk would have been to bring in a continental manager unfamiliar with the vagaries of the Scottish League. 2. Its difficult to know what both Gerrard and Beale brought to the team management but I would suspect you are probably correct about our method of play against a side sitting deep. On the plus side (and a big plus), I felt we had a lot more control of the game under him/Gerrard playing two no10s rather than wide men and we rarely got horsed in Europe and against them the way we did with Gio. 3. Could equally be seen as an advantage if he can get them to play for him. 4/5. At this point in time, we have no idea if he is going to be a ‘yes’ man. As I said in another post, the recent visit could be an indication of how ruthless he might be to both get the job and in how he manages the team.
  16. Bit like Waddell sitting in his car outside Ibrox waiting for White to leave the building. I agree with you that his recent visit, on face value, doesn’t look very good. It might just have been down to poor judgement on his part or, more likely, he wanted the job when it came up and was going to make sure all the right people knew. This does show a lack of class but also a ruthlessness to get the job. I’d be quite happy if he displayed the latter quality to bring us success in his managerial role (if it is to be him). We need a ruthless manager to fight like-for-like with the opposition across the city.
  17. None of our players have shown they’re indispensable. Don’t think Beale would get any negative fan reaction from getting rid of anyone who is not on board with him. Would also likely be a positive for him, showing he’s not going to take any shit from any player(s) going forward.
  18. It’s really difficult to blood young players into the Rangers team because of the week in, week out demand to keep winning games. We’ve seen that with King, who looks a good prospect to me, but has already been savaged by some parts of the support for errors he has made in games he really wasn’t ready to play in. Although, we are 9points of in the league, and it is probably unrealistic to believe we can pull that back, I can’t see the new manager being given much leeway in requiring to win matches between now to the end of the season. In those circumstances can’t see youngsters been given too many opportunities.
  19. If we are going to get back to winning the League anytime soon, it has to be a British manager for me. Past record of foreign managers speaks for itself. Not that keen on Beale but doesn’t seem to be a lot of other realistic options on the table that would excite.
  20. I was of that opinion up to the last three games. However, when the wheels come off, you need to take action otherwise you’re not going anywhere. I think he’s been unlucky with injuries, probably the end result of playing pretty well every midweek over the last 15 months. However, even with that, I don’t see any great signs he’s a particularly good man manager or has great tactical nouse (his numerous assistants don’t seem to help much in that regard either). I think we also have to look at Wilson’s position. His signings have been poor in the extreme over the last year and, if Gio is to go, Wilson needs to be put on notice also. (If a new manager came in, would you trust Wilson to bring in the necessary improvements). Lastly, we need to take a look at replacing many of the players, who have just been with us too long and, apart from the one season (behind closed doors), have consistently not turned up when the going got tough in the League and cups under both Gerrard and now Gio.
  21. We have a team at present who, in League games anyway, have around 70% possession and a ridiculous number of shots on goal and corners for little if any return. Quite honestly, I really don’t care if the boy disappears out of games, I just want someone with a little ability and composure to put his foot on the ball and pick out a couple of passes that count. If that means they only turn up for 5min, it’s an improvement to that which we’re seeing at present. Although he may not ultimately deliver on his potential, the boy has looked to provide something different to the water carriers and side/ back passing merchants we are watching week in week out at present time. I honestly don’t care about his supposed ‘bad attitude’, I just want to see someone who might gives us something different to the dross we’ve been watching lately and a reason to go out on a winters night to watch it.
  22. Although there were clearly issues last season, the speed of the downturn from the Europa Cup final has been dramatic. Think a lot of it is confidence. Even allowing for the fact we were playing teams above our level (at present anyway), the drubbings we took in the CL must have took its toll confidence wise. Once that goes, the downward spiral can be dramatic. The amount of injuries and failure to recruit any regular starters during the summer also must have increased the malaise.
  23. I think the amount of injuries we have and the cost of getting rid of him and his backroom team will see him survive to at least Spring. League is probably gone whether we get rid or not so Board are probably weighing up the potential loss of couple of cups against giving him a few more months to see if he can turn it round. Cost of getting rid will make it difficult to finance any newcomers in January. Then again, with his future in limbo will they trust him to spend any money (or indeed Wilson).
  24. He’s clearly low in confidence. Even with that, not sure that GVB having both wingers playing out wide has suited his game.
