I argued against signing Butland, mostly on financial grounds. However I must now get behind him. Gerrard on a regular basis sang Kamaras praises. If he gets the Leeds job then there may be a chance that Kamara will join him. As to what fee we can expect for Kamara I have no idea. Whatever we get for him we will have made a profit.

Personally I don't think that Rodgers will go back to them. He has too much to lose if things go wrong and with a Rangers side on the up (and much better than the Rangers team he ran over) that's quite a risk to take.

I get your point and 30k per week for a striker I would not bat an eyelid at but to me 30k a week for a keeper is not good value for money.

My concern around Butland is his wages. I am not sure it's a wise spend.

He is going into the final year of his contract so the idea of Bayern loaning him out for another year is a non starter. Bayern themselves are in turmoil so it's possible that we have nobody to negotiate with at the moment. We have no idea what is going on in the boys head which makes all this speculation fruitless. Personally I hope that he does sign but if he knocks us back then I wont shed any tears over his decision.

All transfers these days are split over years. We are probably due another chunk soon for Bassey, Paterson, and Aribo. That forms the basis for a 15M+ spend. That amount over 3/4 years is tops 5M per year. Not forgetting that we have already wiped out close to 100k per week in wages then come the window opening Beale knows he money to spend. He has already shown that he has an eye for a player so I see no reason to doubt that he will spend it wisely.

Our coefficient means that we are a seeded team for the qualifiers so every chance of making the group stages again. A kinder draw than last season with the goal of finishing 3rd and the parachute into the knockout stages of the Europa does not seem like an impossible dream.

I have no problem with us signing him. But it going to be mid June when the window opens before we can sign somebody we are paying money for with hopefully a few others out the door and some pennies in the bank.

Can't doubt Sakalas work ethic - it's splendid as he always trys his hardest. Might not be much of a 100% sometimes but he is always going to give it. We got him on a bosman so cost us nothing which is pretty close to his transfer value there fore it just makes sense to retain him as a squad member.
