I'd start Rossiter in the holding role next game and bench Barton. Needs to know early on he's not undroppable. Still confident he'll come good though. Bring in another creative player further up the pitch, hopefully Windass is back fit.

Foderingham - 7 - assured for most of game aside from one misplaced pass. Tavernier - 7 - defended well. Didn't get forward. Wilson - 7 - started poorly but defending for two by the end. Kiernan - 5 - backing off again, misplaced passes galore. Wallace - 6 - didn't influence enough in second half. McKay - 8 - made at least 4 or 5 excellent chances. Won us the game. Barton - 5 - poor passing. Got about the pitch slowly. Should never be on freekicks over Tav. Rossiter - 6 - worked hard but didn't bring much to be honest. Disappointed. Halliday - 6 - same as Rossiter. Forrester - 6 - great goal and good first half but craziness in the second half. Should have been off. Miller - 6 - took goal well but didn't do much else. Subs done nothing worth discussing aside from a single flick from Dodoo.

I'm not sure we do any type of marking.

Expected so much more from Barton in games like this when we need a leader. Feeling really let down he just doesn't look interested. Hope it's just a fitness issue.

Slows things down in the middle of the park too much for me. Whenever we bypass him and look to the wings for a quick counter we always look far more dangerous than when we go through him in the middle. This becomes more and more relevant as we see teams rushing to put 9 or 10 men behind the ball and as it becomes more important for us to take advantage of any quick counter attacking opportunities we get. I do think he is an excellent prospect and i'd like to see him stick around as a squad player for the second half of the season but i'm not sure he suits our new style of play particularly well.

That was my reasoning! Could always swap him round with Laudrup through the game, how could you defend against that?

Look at Arsenal and Viera as an example. They've not won anything of real note since he left in 2005 and they have never really replaced him with another enforcer type player. They are still a brilliant team playing excellent football but I think this shows you need this type of player to be real champions.

Tav and Waggy have scored as many goals as the rest of the team combined! Some bit of business getting they two!
