Hagi being third most contributions despite not playing as much as others is impressive.

I think he's played well when he's been given playing time. At the start of the season he had niggling injuries but was still involved in goals. The hacks in Scotland have decided that he can't handle the physicality etc though and are pushing the narrative he's struggling, just like they're trying to push that Itten is low on confidence. Absolute nonsense.

As remarkable as our two full backs are they are still fucken full backs and I expect a 7 million pound winger to be top of the assist charts, at least top, probably far and away top.

If a 300 grand RB has more assists than you you've got a problem.

And any cunt that thinks Gerrard hasn't told Kent that either is out of their gourd.

Anyone who thinks Gerrard is having a go at Kent over his current form is just looking for something to moan about.

My thinking for it was that Hagi’s “touch” was insignificant and unintentional that I decided that the more telling contribution came from Tavernier’s ball in and that it merely took a deflection on the way to Itten. Similar to if a through ball takes a knock off a defender through to a striker. I think if you want to use the stats as a measure of which players created meaningful chances then it makes more sense to give it to Tav than it does to Hagi.

But I see SPFL have given Hagi the assist and Itten even thanked him for the assist on his social media. So I may change it tomorrow but I think this is where assist stats start to lose value personally

I can understand that, but without Hagi being there it doesn't fall to Itten and there's no goal. For me it's either Hagi's assist or just Itten's unassisted goal. I think it goes to show that sometimes stats don't tell the whole story, as it's one where both Tav and Hagi essentially set up Itten, but only one can get the official assist.

As an aside, with Itten thanking him, I wonder if that's something they work on in training. I must admit I don't think it was accidental from Hagi; didn't just deflect off him without him knowing. He's an intelligent player so if he's able to be an asset like this in set pieces then it's yet another thing he can add to the team.

Motherwell 1-5 Rangers - Scottish Premiership, Matchday 9

Goals: James Tavernier (2), Jordan Jones, Cedric Itten (2)
Assists: Scott Arfield (2), James Tavernier

Also added a total contributions table to the OP with goals + assists

Does Hagi not get credited with the assist for Itten's second? He knocked the ball down for Itten from Tav's corner, using his back albeit.

Aha but still. Like if a player gets fouled 30 yards out when he wasn't really up to anything and Tav happens to bang in the freekick I thing it's kind of a false stat for the fouled player. Next season I'm going to make it so that if a player is awarded an assist it's because they actually created something or played a key part in a goal.

I get what you mean. There was a period earlier this season where Kent didn't have many assists or goals in most official stats, but he was winning us free kicks that led to goals or sparked off a movement that led to a goal, or dragged a defender out of position.

Technically can't give him anything but I'm going to change the rules for assists next season I think. Probably going to take out assists for winning freekicks and introduce a "key passes" concept for passes which create the chance even if it wasn't the absolute final pass to the goal.

I was only kidding. Wouldn't quibble with anything in the thread - it's something I check often before or after a game to keep an eye on these. Glad you're keeping up the good work next season.

    Like Scott Arfield? ?

Technically he's not a signing from Canada; he's from Scotland, and we signed him from a team England...

But aye. Fraser Aird looked a half decent played before Warburton decided to change him into a right back, and Cammy Palmer has potential. Having the Canadian national captain in our ranks just now will hopefully help us if we do try to look for good young players in that market.

I would be in favour of us doing this if the money was specifically used to create a fund which clubs could only draw on to lay and maintain grass pitches. I don't like the idea of helping any of these bitter diddy clubs out but, if it means reducing the risk of our top players being injured on artificial pitches, then it's basically a simple calculation.

In other words, would I have us pay £50K per season to markedly reduce our risk of injury? Absolutely.

Those clubs already rely on the fans of Rangers and celtic to subsidise them; without our traveling support and the TV revenue - and Sky, BT Sports etc wouldn't give a fuck about the league without us - so it should already be an entry requirement for top flight football.

Our fans should stop attending away matches involving any club using a plastic pitch.

He's playing in a Live side set up to defend and the side seems to enjoy defending. Not sure he'd look great in a better side playing higher up the pitch though.

They weren't really set up to defend all the time last season, and he usually looked good. Different level, granted, but people were sceptical about Marvin Andrews for similar reasons and he worked out. Allen and his scouting team have a good record so far, so if we do bring the lad back then they'll have seen enough to think he can do a job for us.

Not dismissing your point though, as that is one of the difficulties faced when recruiting players from 'smaller teams' - it's why having a decent scouting team is so important.

Said before to @Rfc52, i think the kit is subbied out to elite sports on behalf of hummel. They will be made in the far east by another subbie and licensed by hummel in name only.

That's pretty standard. It's rare for brands to own their own factories for manufacturing sportswear.

Quietest game I would say was Shkupi away

I'd discount those games as he was pretty poor home and away. Seems like the management team sussed after that tie that Morelos is the sort who needs positive reinforcement; arm around the shoulder and encouragement. In between that tie and Osijek there were a few photos of Stevie G and McAllister laughing about with him in training, and since then celtic and Livingston were his only poor games. (Well, besides Aberdeen and Ufa away, but for different reasons...)

Easy link to make but he’s been impressive for Livingston since he left us.

He's been good any time I've watched him, though admittedly I've only seen highlights other than when we played them. But considering McAuley's age and Worrall being a loanee, bringing Halkett back as an option now he's had regular first team football wouldn't be a bad idea - especially if he continues to play well.

They're all rat bastards, Lafferty literally said he left to get his son away from the city

I'd have more respect if he was just honest and admitted his relationship with McCoist wasn't good and he'd been planning on leaving that summer any way, and not transferring over gave him more freedom in that respect. I still wouldn't like it, but I'd rather he was honest than pretend it was for his child's benefit.

John Fleck recently said he didn't transfer over as he wasn't playing much, and the way things were he had no way of knowing if he'd be in Ally's plans, so did what was best for him. Do I like it? No, but I understand it.

Press conference or no press conference, the fact cunts were happy to have mcgregor and lafferty back shows if we had signed Naismith all would be forgiven especially if he was having mcgregor performances.  He’s s dirty rat bastard, but ibrox boo’ing him was pointless because they would be cheering him had we resigned him.  Stone cold fact.

I booed him and it's not a stone cold fact I'd be cheering him - I'd still be calling him a Judas rat bastard.

2 mates sit together on friends and family.

One got a ticket in the ballot the other didn’t, when he went to the game the seat next to him was empty for the whole game , maybe just a coincidence but I doubt it.

Ticket office seemed to automatically add my dad and sister to my friends & family. My sister's season ticket was originally in my name - my dad got the tickets in '99 when I was 11, but it's been hers since 2004 - and my ticket is registered at the same address as theirs are, so could be due to either. Didn't know until I tried to add them to my friends & family a few days ago.

Ive noticed recently with Spence - almost every other tweet has now something to do with Catholics or independence - yet he is employed as a Scottish sports broadcaster typically by the BBC - and appears to get round it by saying he is a freelancer. its a bit sureal

I do wonder how much longer Spence, English etc can get away with that sort of nonsense now that the BBC in Manchester are paying attention. Neil Cameron has been going down the pro-Corbyn, rant about Trump line with his twitter, but he's not employed by the BBC, so fair enough; BBC employees shouldn't really be passing comment on politics or religion unless that's the area they're employed to report on - and even then, it should be neutral.

In fairness, twitter is chock full of absolute rockets. However looking at some various high profile people on it, there is a way to play the game, and Jim hasn't found it.

If you can't handle abuse on social media - especially as someone in the public eye - then you should probably avoid it, and avoid trying to wind up a large section of your employers' target demographic. Even morons like Sutton and Hartson, who seem to block most who dare criticise them, don't try to play the "they're all just bigots" card, yet absolute messes like Spence, Delahunt and Collymore do.
