What actual power do they have?

Why not just tell them to fuck off?

Because they're there with authorisation from UEFA, so we can't refuse them entry.

    Stopped reading after under Pedro

I stopped reading after "ten," as anyone who thinks that stopping celtic win ten in a row should be our aim has no right to suggest others are setting the bar too low.

    That's the one ???

I nearly added that as a "PS" onto the question I asked him on Monday night at Walkabout. Just as well I didn't, as it ended up being read out and asked after the guy sitting across from me told David Tanner to ask it  (Alan Ferguson, I'm sure Tanner called him).

I'm getting his book and asked for it to be signed with a poignant question I wish to be answered:)

I can't wait to find out what the reply is and no it isn't a marriage proposal or anything remotely naughty....

You asked if he's a fan of Peaky Blinders, seeing as he's from Birmingham, didn't you?

A game and a half all season isn’t really good enough tbf

This isn't all season, to be fair, nor was he the only player who was shite today. Other than Kent, who offered anything today?

Looks like Neil McCann might be finally getting a break today?

There's really not much between Dundee and sides like Aberdeen, Killie etc. Unfortunately for them the ingredient that's missing is a half decent striker; got pace on the wing and create chances, but nobody to really get on the end of it. Arguably McCann has tried to foster a style that doesn't suit his team, but it does seem like his players buy into it. (I wanted Hardie to go on loan there instead of Livingston, as I think he's the type of player that'd make a big difference.)

I have yet to hear any professional football player say he prefers artificial pitches.

The SPFL/SFA should ban them in the Premiership. It's a professional game not fucking Subbuteo!  Cunts are making a mockery of our game.

As much as I have no love for St. Mirren, they had to agree to ensure their old stadium at Love Street was 10,000 seater, even though - aside from visits from ourselves and the taigs - it'd rarely, if ever, be near capacity. Falkirk were denied promotion due to their stadium being a shithole - Aberdeen thus spared relegation - and Gretna had to play in Motherwell. (Can anyone remember why the SPL rejected the proposal of Gretna hosting their home games in Carlisle? I'm sure both Carlisle and the FA stated it wouldn't be an issue on their end.)

Why, then, are artifical surfaces allowed? Surely if teams can't afford a grass pitch they should not be in the league? Can Killie really not afford one? Or do they just use the money they save on maintaining a grass pitch towards paying players like Boyd, Burke and Broadford instead?

All the loan players Worral, Ejaria, Kent and coullibaly have signed long term contracts with their parent clubs.

We probably have to pay alot money to get these boys in. Would be great signings if we could get them permanently.

It's been rumoured that we have an option to buy Coulibaly, so if that's true it won't be a ridiculous amount. Could see Ejaria being loaned to us again.

IIRC it was during the 1991 (or 92?) closed season Smith signed Goram and Woods left, again I believe the decision was impacted by UEFA ruling that you could have only so many foreign players -- guys shared a common passport designation yet were considered to be from distinct countries.   BTW Woods joined us for around 500K, peanuts nowadays and he was the England #1 at the time, another Souness masterstroke.

It was in 1991, aye. Partly because of the three foreigner rule and partly because Woods himself admits he still had equilibrium issues from Kenny McDowall clattering him; made sense to free up a space for a foreign player if Walter felt Woods wasn't what he was a few years before it. But despite making sense and ultimately being the right decision, it has to be the most high profile example of us selling our number one keeper. (Would have been eclipsed by Goram being sold during 9IAR if all the times he was placed on the transfer list or told he was done ever resulted in him actually being sold though.)

Have we ever sold our No1 Keeper? Leitizi is the only one I can think of, but I think Walter dropped him for McGregor when he came in, so not technically our No1. Could be a good trivia question. Goram to motherwell, or had Klos already took his place?

I think the only cunt who regarded Letizi as the No.1 keeper was Le Guen because he was as bad as Cammy Bell with his blunders, plus his injuries didn't help him any, so after Le Guen got shafted, Letizi was offloaded.

Goram left around May (I think) and played for a couple of clubs in England before signing for Motherwell in January 1999, so he was long gone before Klos arrived. Incidentally, Klos replaced Lionel Charbonnier as our No.1 keeper.

I was three at the time so a bit too young to follow these things, but was Woods considered numbed one when he was sold?

In division 3 we were still adamant Wallace deserved to be in the Scotland team. He was great that year, shite in division 2, shite in the champ pre Warburton as you say, by the time Warburton left, he looked a shadow of the player he was when he joined

I think it took a mental toll on him as much as anything. Until the current board took charge there wasn't really any structure or hierarchy in place; as disappointing as Ally's reign was, at no point was he really solely focused on managing the team - that sort of dysfunction has to affect the players too.

I think that's what led to Ally bringing back guys he thought he could trust in Boyd & Miller, and I think it's debatable whether the senior players in the team really led by example. I don't think Wallace particularly shone that season either, but by then all the chaos and nonsense - and guys in the team who blatantly didn't give a solitary fuck - had to have left him jaded.

I think he got bored playing with the Hearts reserve team in the 2nd division and getting kicked fuck out of. Would be very hard to keep your form up under those management teams with those players against those teams. Wallace was one of the few who stuck by us. I think we owe it to him to give him as much backing to get back to what he's capable of. He's only 31,he gave us his best years. I'm not giving up on him, but I can see why a lot of people think he won't get back to that level.

I don't think we owe him anything, really, other than a more dignified exit than it looked like he was going to get. He stuck by us, but if you're not performing or not fit then that's it. I think a lot of managers would have binned Halliday and Wallace - especially with the latter being suspected of being one of Keith Jackson's sources - but Gerrard believes in giving people a chance; if Wallace gets an opportunity then it'll be because he earned it, rather than because of sentimentality. (And given that he's been on the bench a few times, I'd say he's trying his best to earn those chances.)

I don't see a future for him with us beyond this season, but I would rather he leave as part of a team that won the league rather than in the same fashion as Miller. I didn't see Halliday having a future with us either, so fuck knows. (I suspect Wallace will want to play regularly rather than be second choice though, especially after his injury problems, whereas Halliday will stick around as a utility player.)

If Wallace could get back to the form we know he can get to, then he would definitely give Baraic (sp) a run for the first team spot.

He should be hungry as fuck.

Wallace hasn't performed well at a high level since before we were demoted. I can't honestly remember his form in 2011/12, but he was good for Hearts in 2009/10 and then injured for much of the season in between. (That's not a knock on him - just pointing out that the years have gone in since he was considered arguably the best full back in Scotland besides Saša Papac.) Since then I don't think he was great in the lower leagues - he wasn't shite either, but he didn't look out of place with the rest of an underwhelming Rangers side - bar one season under Warburton, and has had issues with injuries. Seems unlikely that a 31 year old with injury issues is going to be able to wind the clock back whilst also raising his game to perform well at a higher level.

A few years ago he'd have given Barišić a run for his money, true, but I think you'd need to be a big fan of Lee Wallace and very optimistic to think he can challenge Borna for a starting berth now. He'll be doing well to cement himself as second choice, and would probably still feature a fair bit by doing so. Even that's going to be a challenge for him though.

I know a player who shares the same agent as John McGinn. The celtic transfer fiasco of that “no brainer” lies squarely with Peter Lawwell. His complete arrogance led to McGinn signing for AV and Lawwell phoning McGinn’s grandfather ( ex-celtic employee) that McGinn would never be offered the chance to join celtic ever again, despite the mess being Lawwell’s.

The rift between BR and Lawwell/board started then and both want rid of each other.

That's certainly one way of describing him, aye....

Do you guys have inside knowledge of this - or is based on the history of br?

I'm basing him wanting out on him being linked to the Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham jobs this summer, even though he wasn't on the shortlist for any of them (or at least wasn't going by the leaked list of candidates in the press). Managers are no different to players in that respect; agents shop them about for better moves.

From celtic's point of view, he's on a big money contract with years left and run, so if another club had approached they'd have been due a hefty compensation fee - for a manager they clearly think has been backed enough in the transfer market, with a pretty poor record in it too.
