Furious Massimo Donati wants Arsenal cheat Eduardo banned for penalty dive against Celtic

Massimo Donati last night urged UEFA to throw the book at Arsenal cheat Eduardo after his dive won a penalty - and killed Celtic's Champions League dream at the Emirates.

Croatia striker Eduardo conned the Spanish ref into awarding the Gunners a 27th-minute spot-kick that he got up to convert and send the Premiership giants on their way to what turned out to be an easy win.

Eduardo's antics - he fell as Artur Boruc came out to dive at his feet - infuriated Celtic and the Polish keeper immediately raced to rage at whistler Manuel Enrique Mejuto Gonzalez.

And Donati, whose goal with the last kick of the ball was no consolation to the Scots, insists Eduardo must be banned for cheating.

The Italian said: "It was not a penalty. Everybody knew it wasn't a penalty.

"Eduardo said nothing to us - he could say nothing.

"It is not good when a guy does that. Artur pulled away from him and it is not on.

"Eduardo could maybe in trouble for it. For me, it's the same as other past incidents.

"If UEFA think it is the same situation he will probably be in trouble.

"You have seen it a few times with the Rangers player Kyle Lafferty and the Lithuanian player Saulius Mikoliunas Celtic players, Shinsuke Nakamura and Scott McDonald, and they weren't banned."

Boruc was still incensed at the end. He said: "It was not a penalty and it definitely changed the course of the game.

"I don't remember what I said to Eduardo - maybe I need to learn some Croatian. But we didn't play anywhere near our best."

Does he forget the players in his team that do it ALL year round? (ones left right enough, but still)

they have such short memories

lost count of the Naka dives

how many times did he collapse in a heap conveniently in the best shooting position...his team mates did the same

they were saying it changed the course of the game and that Celtic were playing well until the pen :mutley: erm I don't think so

i posted this comment in our local paper in australia in regards to the arsenal/septic game.

Latest Comments: good to see eduardo playing the celtic way. mcdonald and nakamura made a living out of diving in the spl, so much so that klinsman and greg louganis had to sue celtic for copyright infraction.
