GOAT 30,449
I meant to post this after the St Mirren game.... Anyway, I've been watching some of the pre-match training sessions when I've not been at the pub. They do the bit where they all line up with McCoist laying the ball on for them to shoot. I hadn't noticed it until recently, but every shot Whittaker hits, seems to hit the net. Now this is the bit you're going to either call me mad, Walter Smith or both. If we're a few up towards the last quarter of the game, I'd put Whittaker up front to see what he can do. He's a better attacking player than he is defender anyway, we all know that. I also didn't realise he's scored 9 goals this season. Ok, I await the abuse.

nvager 498
Play him at striker then for 10 minutes. Not in midfield or defence.
Emerson 2
He already said he was the man to fill Boyds boots when he got injured.

cornelius11 74
Your no the first one to come out with this, and I cant say I disagree. If we had all our forwards injured and we had to put a midfielder/defender in that position I would say Whittaker would be best suited.
weejames 1
I'm sure Whittaker said himself a few weeks ago that he'd be up for playing up front if required. Apparently he played there when he was younger before shifting to the back.
Gaz52 11,837
Know who else used to score every shot he hit in the warm-up? And I mean EVERY shot? Mr Rotten himself!

MasterD 7,446
Or we could try a youth player who is a striker? Whittaker does well at scoring goals, most from the end of a mazy run, i dont think he'd be good upfront though
simon 1,758
I don't think he could play as a striker. Sure he can finish but I doubt he could hold the ball up and he doesn't really have the presence of a Boyd type player. Far too lightweight.
thebooler 4,509
I posted this elsewhere, but when watching them on Saturday before the Fawkirk game, Lafferty never HIT the target with 5/6 attempts! Also young Loy at the last league game at Hamilton never missed once, which I was happy to see.

simon 1,758
He isn't a striker and I'd never play him there. He is, however, the best finisher at the club. Do you mean that is fit at the moment?

Do you mean that is fit at the moment? Nope. Whittaker's shot to goal ratio will shit all over Boyd's. Whittakers shot to goal ratio is 0.1 Boyd's is 0.26 so it doesn't really shit all over it at all.
