flecky1 4
2 out of 5 to me's agony. Getting humped 6 - 2 to me is agony. We were on the back foot and they were bullying us..... it was torture. Walter has delivered us from the depths of despair and still you want to put the man down.Seriously, have a word with yourself.Big Eck sorted that out, despite having to downsize and having some shite in his squad, he done so well! Jimfanciesthedude 24,751
ffs blouie you are clutching at straws there, we have the same record in the last 5 years as we did in the o'neill era, and as for getting humped 6-2, we cuffed them 5-1 two or 3 months later, anyway this is going off topic, smith has spent a fair whack since he came back, more than the two previous rangers managers combined, so some thanks should go to the men running the financial side of the club, wether you like it or not, the banks have not once forced the club to cripple itself on the park, just to sort things out off the park

trueblue4life 20
Eck still inherited a good squad from Advocaat and made some very astute signings such as Caniggia, Novo and Boyd, not including the bosmans. We had really good 'footballers' too in Ronald De Boer, Arteta, Ferguson, Caniggia etc.

GOAT 30,449
How anyone can have a go at Smith is beyond me. The man took us from trailing Celtic and bloody Hearts in the league to a European final and almost three titles in a row. Take a look at yourselves. But why should that downplay Smith's achievements? As GOAT correctly points out, we were fucked when Smith came in. No Champions League football, already lost the league, no trophies in a couple of seasons, no defence and dressing room tensions. Now, we have Champions League football, look likely to win the league, trophies galore, a great defence and a united squad. He spent money because he had to. The squad needed rebuilding and it has been. Surely the money he spent is balanced out by Hutton, Cuellar, Cousin, Mendes, Wilson, Ferguson, Thomson etc.

I'd say he was doing a quite remarkable job given the circumstances.
