Something puts me off ps3 , not sure why , fancy an x box 360

If your brother has an xbox then you should buy the ps3 and if you get bored you can swap with him for a few weeks, still very pricey though

The 360 had a shite range of games why it came out. Wii had a shite set of games when it came out. Ps2 & 1 had a shite range of games when it came out. Get a grip mate.

God sake the ps3 has been out for about 5 days ffs. It's not going to have a load of high quality games out is??? It takes time for developers to get use the system and to get the most out of it.

The best is still to come. Metal gear solid 4, FF13, GT4, GTA4 and Littlebigworld.

These games alone will make people buy a PS3.

I'm fighting in the PS3 corner.

I've had a xbox 360 for over a year now. I've played the ps3 for the last four or five days.

So can i not compare and pass my views??? Xbox Vs PS3.

To many people on here are price focused so there not giving it a chance. I know it's a lot but i'm not judging it on that I'm more interested in how it preforms. I'm just saying that, from what I've played, that i think the ps3 is a far superior console and most people out there that have a ps3 and xbox would agree.

i agree. always had nintendos. the gamegear was just a slightly more powerful handheld master system. i preferred the gamebox tbh - zelda was immense on it.

I'm more convinced that all that 'technology' is mostly gimmicks.

For example: the Six-Axis thingie. That's just pure crap...

And don't forget: by the time PS3 will start getting a lot of good games Xbox360 will still be way ahead of it...

The only good thing Xbox360 doesn't have it the Blu-Ray player (wich is absolutely fantastic, I've watched Casino Royale on it at a mate's house and I was blown away. Then again: his parents have a Sony Bravia, I don't )

IMO the ps3 will be more successful. The launch day games are not as good as they should be but people writing off the PS3 now should wait a bit longer to see how the PS3 is doing. The Blu-ray player will be a main factor IMO in sealing the victory for sony. It is priced at £1,000 but you can get it in a PS3. The Xbox 360 has HD-DVD but Blu-Ray can store more and people could buy a PS£ for the Bluray and save £575 potentially. The Xbox may be cheaper and they have a wider selection of games so far but the PS3 has been out for about 6 days and has barely even started. The war has just started but I expect the PS3 to win.

Look at games like GTA SA they were at bursting point on a dvd.

to be honest, i dont really care which is most successful. i look at them with no bias, each has its own merits. i saw all this years ago with the megadrive and the super nintendo and i realised one thing:

sony and microsoft (and microsoft and apple in the computer market) play people off each other. it builds hype and advertising without them paying very much for it. mario vs sonic arguments were pityful to watch when younger, its happening all over again.

my views?

wii: looks like fun! id love a shot of one. really refreshing to see something that cares about the games more than the graphics. you will probably get the most fun, long lasting and enjoyable games with this. plus you can play all the old classics. main strength - family orientated.

360: had an xbox before, and enjoyed it. would buy a 360 to play both halo 3 and gta4. works in harmony with vista and certain pc games will be able to play on Live with 360 gamers. looks good, perfect if you have a pc. main strength - home media hub and best online service.

ps3: graphics are spectacular, sony have copied every company and incorporated their ideas into the console. always going to have a good range of games, its online service is much better than the last one. blueray is a bonus too, but only if it becomes format of choice, otherwise: another UMD. main strengths: superior graphics and processing power.

ive nothing against any - i just think that its best to look at the good points of all. each to their own. id rather an xbox because i had the one previous, and my reasons above.

my reasons for not getting a wii - too much hard work. prefer more serious gaming.

reasons for not getting ps3 - bluray and price. you might wonder why about blueray but id rather wait to see what could play my movies in 6 years time or not.

my point - care about the games. not taking sides with heartless organisations only using you to promote their product without pay.

look at the original games for the ps2 and you see how far its come.

even look at donkey kong country on snes and compare it to early ps1 games.

consoles take years before they have the best out of them. going to be an interesting few years.

A blu ray drive costs around 400 quid the now.

That price has fallen a bit in the last 6 months. So in around a year and a half we will see a cheaper ps3.

So to people thinking that the ps3 will fall this year. It wont. Dont expect it to fall until around xmas 2008.

depends when sony can drop it in the states, then we will get pricewars, as you say, xmas 08 - spot on. when they sell a ps3, they lose money. i dont know how much, but microsoft lost £70 for ever 360 from the first lot, only at xmas last year they made profit from a console sold, in terms of parts and building - before they recoup what they lost before. guaranteed this xmas 360 drops to fight the wii on its terms, though not as low on price. ps3 will be the no1 most wanted gift this year. it simply cannot drop, they can sell as many as they like.

i remember when dvd players came out, my mum got one - cracking one too. the dvd section in blockbuster was small! the thing saw about a dozen movies in three months. it was a glorified CD player the rest of the time. i worked at asda and they had the first cheap ones at £150 - the ps2 was about £200. people bought that instead as they saw it as a dvd player and a top games console, for a few quid more (and you can get dvd players for a tenner now). sony is doing the same with blue ray. and they have a lot of interest in the movie industry, so theyre banking on blueray cos they know they have a fighting chance.
