Carling Nations Cup?

What the fuck is the point in this? So next midweek we will have the Scotland v Northern Ireland match at a time in the season when teams are fighting for trophies at the business end of the season.

And potentially we could have McGregor, Weir, McCulloch, Davis, Healy, Lafferty, Naismith, Whittaker away to Dublin for a kickabout?

What are the fixtures for this and does any other matches fall in between when we have games in the SPL?

this tournament, if its going to be played, should be played over 7 days in one city- glasgow, dublin or cardiff- in a tournament year when all the countries involved have failed to qualify, the week before the tournament is played.

if we're going to play international friendlys, this makes more sense to me than some of the random games we've had before. but not mid season surely.

If we werent playing in this, it would probably be friendlies against the Faroes or San Marino anyway. But if its not an official fifa sanctioned tournament, I wonder that the situation is with refusing players for these games?

Unfortunately it is a "International Week" in the eyes of UEFA and FIFA hence no domestic or European games scheduled in ths week. That means we can only avoid our players involvement with the agreement of Levein and he has already said he wants to win this tournament and play his strongest side. If they declare themselves as unfit this needs to be verified by the Scotland Squad doctor and if he agrees he also has to give clearance for them to be available for their next domestic game. FIFA has set the rules to ensure Country has the upperhand in any Country versus Club dispute.
