How can sion be right with this action if they fielded ineligible players . Surely they have gone against the rules ?

I'm obviously all for anything to cause more grief to lemmon and his hordes of hunchbacked weirdo freaks , but what grounds do sion have to say they should be reinstated ?

Apparently they were banned from signing players for two transfer windows (last summer and January) but what FIFA/UEFA thought they had banned them for was three windows? Think that's it lol. But if UEFA saw they had fielded ineligible players in the round before Celtic, why were they allowed to continue?

The way UEFA have gone about this is bordering on insanity. If Sion broke rules by registering certain players, then UEFA should have taken action right at that moment. They knew those players were ones they were claiming were ineligible but went ahead and did nothin anyway. Then they started playing some ridiculous game. The tims were knocked out, if the players Sion played were eligible and therefore shouldn't be in the group and tbh surely, if they thought things werent right they should have said something after the first leg?

Still at the end of the day it will come down to, if Sion get reinstated, two more defeats for the poor buggers in timmyland. Shame isnt it.

The problem UEFA have is that they provided both Sion and Celtic a list of eligible players prior to the matches which included these players as UEFA believed them to be eligible. This is why the Swiss courts are backing Sion. It is FIFA who are causing the problem. Since the "offence" that Sion were banned from signing players for 2 windows covered 2 Federations (Europe and Africa) it was adjudicated on by FIFA. It all comes down to defintion of 2 transfer windows as the ban was handed out during one. Both Sion and Uefa understood it to be that window plus one other whereas FIFA are stating it was 2 transfer windows after the one they were in at the time the ban was given.

FIFA have put pressure on UEFA to take action against Sion as it is a UEFA ran competition and FIFA therefore could not do anything.

That round was the first round Sion played in, Swiss Cup win gave them a play-off round spot.
