It is people power mate. It might seem daft and petty but imagine 1000's of people stood screaming the same thing at you, you would sit up and take notice. And Blockthebbc means not visiting there sites, reading stories, rangers stories.

So.

What has it achieved?

What twitter or Blockthebbc?

Well twitter is used in communist states as a form of free speech and was also park of the Arab spring uprisings.

Blockthebbc, well currently it's just a lot of angry Bears  but we will see. It's only been an hour!

Sorry. Twitter.

What has changed as a result of such campaigns?

Don't get me wrong - I don't know, but I am dubious about the value of online campaigning.

Egypt is on its way to becoming a democratic country giving all citizens the right to a legal and meaningful vote. It has brought to light and helped punish people who have been racist and abusive towards people in society including Rangers players.

I'm sure if you have a wee google about twitter and its power you will find one or two articles about it. They will probably explain it better than me. Just don't read a BBC one (tu):)

The Egyptian dictatorship was not toppled by an internet campaign. And to be honest although I hope you're correct about Egypt's future, you really are making a huge assumption.

The increased communication allowed by the interwebs played its role undoubtedly, but it was the civil disobedience in Tahrir Square that played the crucial role.

Sorry I didn't mean to give the impression that Twitter was the sole protagonist in toppling that regime. I just meant that without it, the civil unrest might not have gathered as much pace therefore not having its intended powerful affect. Anyway.... #blockthebbc! :)

We need to start fighting back. In all the little way that social media allows. We need to let all Bears now that speaking to the BBC, visiting their website, buying into there endless stream of bile only make things worse.

Whether these story's turn out to be true or not, they are damaging our club. I for one am with Whyte 100% until proven otherwise.

#Blockthebbc

It's a small step, but we need to start getting at them. Let them know that it isn't only the Chairman who is fed up of their bile, but the paying public as well.

Thanks mate, but I haven't really done anything. It's up to all Rangers fans to follow through with it, hit them where it will affect then the most by not visiting there site at all (tu) same with the record.

Wouldnt it be better to find out actually who at the BBC is responsible for this vendetta against Whyte and Rangers.

Once we have a name and a face this can be taken up with them.

There are a few names at BBC Pacific Quay HQ that are needing investigated.

I'm sure there are skeletons in a few cupboards.

Goose and Gander spring to mind.

The BBC's founder is reputed to have said 'the BBC's chief reason for being is to keep the working classes docile and compliant to the upper classes..'. It is the national censor: it approves or disapproves that which it thinks people should believe or think: it is seen as this rather democratic organisation, that embraces criticism; but there is a theme that runs through its programming; whether in news, drama, documenmtary, that is of a particular doctrine. I would say that this is currently pro-EU, anti-Conservative; socialist, and what is currently thought of as social-liberalism: if you don't conform to those beliefs then you will have very little place at the BBC.

The BBC is an anachronism: the very concept of having a license fee, to even have a state broadcaster in the 21st century, is odd. Why is it that the Government give us television; has anyone asked this?: it's not like the country will starve if it doesn't see Eastenders. To have to buy a television licence to watch a television would not be accepted if such a proposal was initialised today; and yet, that is what we have to do: would be accept being told we needed a license to get a computer, an ipod, a telephone? The licence fee is nothing more than a television tax: that is wrong on so many levels; and it only exists because it is culturally acceptable: if anyone thought of trying to introduce it for the first time today, people just would not accept it.

With so many alternatives available in popular-culture the BBC has had its day; this will be evident when people look at the fact it no longer does things in the it claimed to do best. Time will tell; but I will be very surprised if it still existed in 20 years time.

The British taxpayers who fund this monstrosity need to organise and get this needless tax stopped NOW!

Well, when you think that the annual budget of the BBC is £3.5 billion, you have to wonder if what people see on their screens is worth that figure. It is a waste of money on a grand scale.

Well said. If you could come up with a way of UN TUNING tv sets I'm sure many more would stop paying the licence fee and let them know why too.
