Or perhaps not. After all, spoof stories in newspapers on April Fool’s Day are hoaxes which are meant to deceive you, to take you in.But who would believe a story which was quite so preposterous, quite so ludicrous, and quite such an affront to any sort of natural justice?Only a fool!Or the bigger fools at the Scottish Premier League who have actually come up with this appalling and iniquitous decision to hire the legal firm, Harper Macleod, who are Celtic’s lawyers, to investigate claims that Rangers ran a dual contracts scam.You don’t believe me? I can’t say I blame you. No sane person would. But this is not sanity we are talking about.This is the Scottish Premier League who, along with their mates along the corridor on Hampden’s sixth floor, the SFA, inhabit a sort of cross between Alice’s Wonderland and the wonderful world of Oz, inhabited by Mad Hatters and Tin Men.Neil Doncaster? The Trust has also alleged a potential conflict of interest in the use of Harper Macleod given that the firm also represents other SPL clubs. Harper Macleod are Celtic's solicitors and acted for Dundee United against a Rangers supporters' club in a recent dispute over tickets for a rearranged fixture at Tannadice but the firm have also been the SPL's solicitors for several years."Proceeding with this investigation while the club is not adequately equipped to defend itself will turn this whole process into a 'kangaroo court'," said Trust chairman Gordon Dinnie in a a statement last night. Perhaps instead of highlighting a problem and moaning about it we should do something about it?I would say we should work to make others see our club in a better light, to install our own people in places of power and work to oust people who are in power whom are too pathetic to bypass their own bias and be fair.You can moan about it or highlight it as much as you want, these people are doing things so obvious anyone can see it. As Duff & Phelps rightly found out, you have to been seen to be impartial as well as actually being impartial. A completely independent firm should have been hired for this most sensitive of issues. Many a bent investigator has concocted "evidence" to try & send down someone he doesn't like.If you're going to conduct an independant investigation, then the investigator has to be independant.
