Must Win Games

Montrose on Sunday, surely a given.I would like to see the team come tearing out from the first whistle and winning this match by at least 3 goals. The big game however is Wednesday night.Losing against Motherwell would send all of us on a major downer, and this game could well set the tone for the rest of the season. For the good of the team and its terrific support we badly need a win.A repeat of Q of S is unthinkeable.views please

Cup runs can be good, great if you know you have a cracking good chance of winning the cup.

Not too sure exactly as to why you think that one game will be putting us on a downer ... a major downer as you say... it won't put me on any downer, sure I'll be spittin' mad if well were to somehow win... but It will not put me on a downer.

You also mention 'a repeat of Qos is unthinkable' ... bad results never began in that game though.

My own thinking on cup games.... I want to win the league title. We can meet 'them' when We are more ready for my liking...

League Title will put a massive smile on my and many other Gers' fans faces this season.

Going out of yet another cup without getting to the interesting stages would be another downer surely? Last season being put out of 4 cups in early stages was shocking and expectations this season would have to be lower but exiting 2 cups in a week would have to be depressing for anyone with any thought process and I am pretty sure that most of our players, management and fans have this facility.

Not quite what I meant by "views"Was hoping bears would comment on how vital they see Wednesday`s game.Insults and expletives a bit of a shocker.

Indeed.

Well for me... that's my opinion on this... I don't know if it would be so bad to not get through.

We have enough to contemplate getting the side 'right' without the extra pressure of a cup run which I don't want to see a side I really really Hate being drawn against us as we are Not ready at this time (this season tbh) for it.

Maybe next season once all our foreigners and youngsters have gelled.

They are all big games and no result is a 'given' right now. I feel that there is a big result in us soon and i think knocking those smug bastards out of the league cup is just the tonic we need, but its going to be tough and we need every player to be on top form and to continue that after murderwell get fucked up.

Motherwell are the top team in Scotland. I can't believe I said that but its true. They're the top team for a reason, the reason being that Scottish footballs a fucking mess. QoS are probably not that much worse than the SPL teams so we can beat Motherwell with an improved performance. But equally, no one fears us anymore and thats a worry. The only way they will fear us is if we start to batter teams home and away starting with Montrose.

Really think after 2 wins and 4 draws we should only be thinking about winning and not about playing well and winning by x amount of goals

itll be a couple of months before we find a bit of consistency in the playing department and until then its score one more than the other team,,,,but itll all come together and when it does we will be fine

Culture shock’ has put Ally McCoist’s Rangers on back foot, says Alexander

By STEPHEN HALLIDAY

Published on Saturday 22 September 2012 01:00

THE last time Rangers welcomed Montrose to Ibrox, they did so as a Treble-winning side in 1976 in a League Cup tie watched by a crowd of less than 19,000. Tomorrow afternoon, as a Third Division club, Rangers can anticipate an
attendance of more than double that figure for the Angus club’s visit.

It is another illustration of the almost surreal position Rangers find themselves in after their financial meltdown and subsequent banishment from the top flight of Scottish football. The notion that they would negotiate a rapid and straightforward route back up through the divisions has been shaken by a start to the campaign which has seen them drop six points in their first five games and then suffer a Ramsdens Cup quarter-final defeat at home to Queen of the South on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper Neil Alexander is one of few players in the current Rangers squad with previous experience of life in the lower reaches of the Scottish game. He believes that may be a factor in their deeply unreliable form so far.

“It has possibly been a culture shock for some of the other boys,” said Alexander. “For those joining, they are seeing Murray Park and Ibrox and thinking ‘this is great’, but then they are turning up at some of the away grounds and thinking ‘What’s going on here, this isn’t right.’ I can’t answer for them, but possibly it’s a reason. I was at Stenhousemuir and Livingston in the lower leagues, so I know what it’s like when you play an SPL team. You’re up for it and you’re giving everything.

“You make it as hard as possible. I think teams are doing that, playing five in midfield and four at the back. We’re finding it hard to break teams down. But we do believe we have the quality in the dressing room that we’re going to overcome these problems. We’re working hard on the training ground to rectify this and, hopefully, it’s going to pay off.

“I don’t see in the long-term future we’re going to have any problems. It’s a short-term thing and I do think we’ll get to the bottom of it and get over it.

“The club is very much still in a transitional period. We lost a lot of first-team players, first-team regulars in the summer and we brought in a lot of new faces. That always takes time to gel.”

Alexander has gone from appearing in a Uefa Cup final four years ago to playing in the Third Division but insists he has no regrets about his decision to commit his future to Rangers. “I try and not think about that,” he added. “I just try and focus on the fact I’m the first-team goalkeeper for Rangers and Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world at a fantastic stadium. I’m trying to focus more on that than the reality of where I’m playing. That’s been the case since we were put in the Third Division. Obviously, you want to play at the top level in your career.

“But I love it here and my family are settled here. I think the club has been very good to me in my time here and I just want to give a bit back. A bit of loyalty which I feel they’ve given to me. It’s hard at times, but you’ve just got to get on with it.”

Winning games in D3 is the priority get ourselves out of that division as champions is a must one season at a time back to the top.....the Motherwell game will be tough, with a full squad I would be confident of beating them, just now we are weak up front with the injuries we have and in defence we lack quality and confidence, it's a cup game anything can happen it will be a tall order to beat Motherwell.........jig up front is a must in that game and good vocal backing from us.
