Pardew eight year contract - shrewd

Recommended Posts

iv never seen a team look so tired as Newcastle did yesterday. hopefully they'll pick up some form now that they have a break from Europe for a few weeks

Don't forget they hardly bolstered their squad during the summer & it's backfired horribly due to the Europa League imo.

After they pulled it to 2-1 Newcastle had at least 4 good chances of scoring again to level,City were on the ropes.

Edit: They need another striker,CAM & Winger imo.

It was defenitely an over-achievement but in fairness they should've used last season as something to build on, the main problem is not bringing any quality or having decent options on the bench. It ridiculous seeing folk like Perch lining up in midfield and I don't rate Williamson at all.

Why have you kept that username?

I still maintain that giving him a 8 year contract was piss poor business!

The way managers come and go these days, all managers should be put on a one season rolling contract would save clubs a fortune. Am sure thats the way celtic hand out their contracts, isn't it?

This is looking like a shrewd move by Newcastle, another defeat today ,he will be lucky if he sees out an 1/8 th of his contract.

Hopefully the use of "shrewd" is sarcasm.

It's often hard to detect sarcasm over the Internet why didn't you just say it was a bad bit of business from Newcastle ?

Newcastle done their best to finish 5th last season, yet they've moaned about every single Europa League game they've had. the English arrogance towards that competition pisses me off. if they dont want to be in it then dont give them EL places, give them to teams who actually want to be in it. its ridiculous that they get 4 CL places anyway. how a team that finishes 4th in the league can be classed as a champion il never know

Blaming it on english arrogance is a bit jacobiteish. Every major league in europe has no time for the europa league and who can blame them, a totally irrelevant competition... Well since 2008-09 anyway!

Btw pardews contract states that he only gets paid up in full if he doesn't get another job for eight years if he gets sacked, now seeing as that's about as likley as paul lambert talking for two sentences some would say that actually is a very shrewd piece of business for newcastle.if he walks newcastle get compensation and if he gets sacked he will pick up another job meaning newcatle will only have to pay six months or sos wages

English teams are the only ones who can't be arsed with the competition

Do your homework, its fifteen to twenty years since an italian or german teams won it which confirms its not just the english who treat it lightly.even french teams who've reached the quarter finals rest players for league games over this cup.
