Goianegra 4,684
Has he "still got IT"?What is "it"? Still one of Liverpool's best players imo, but everyone still says he needs dropped. A peach of a goal today, top assister in the league. Sure he's not what he once was, but personal vendetta's asside - what's everyones opinions on him? caseyjones 3,009
He appears to be coming into some form - just as the team are. Nowhere near the player of old, but still very useful.
Gaz92 966
He appears to be coming into some form - just as the team are. Nowhere near the player of old, but still very useful.Kind of in the Frank Lampard mould of adapting his game to suit his older legs. Quite obviously not the box to box player he used to be, and couldn't fill the role he used to when playing just behind Torres anymore. I'm pretty sure he's near the top of the assist chart this season, so no doubt he's offering something. Inevitably he has aged though, and who knows where he'll be in a couple of years. the goal machine 7,806
Lucas coming back has helped him, he was playing too deep and Liverpool have the right balance with Lucas holding, Allen building attacks from alongside him and Gerrard getting close to Sturridge and Suarez. He's nowhere near as good as he was in 2005 or so but that was to be expected. He's had a lot of injuries and he's getting old.
slimjim1690 4,534
This happens all the time as top top players get older, are they still as good ? etc. top players as long as they have the legs will always offer something, in Gerrards case he got a nasty injury in the later part of his career and it seems to have taken quite a long time for him to recover fully from it, but he is still a very effective part of the Liverpool team as is Carrigher to a lesser extent, the same can be said of Ferdinand at Utd. and Terry at Chelsea, both these guy's have lost a yard but when they don't play the defences of Utd and Chelsea are fucking murder, I don't care what team you look at but almost every team at the top of the pile have a couple of old heads in there to guide the young and impetuous players around them, and good managers of these teams know the value of these players, thats is why the Gerrards, Lampards, Terry's and Ferdinands are still playing at an incredibly high level, and it's also a credit to their fitness levels that they can compete. ready1873 3,887
Always been over-rated in my opinion. His first touch and short range passing, for a supposed world class midfielder, can be shocking.

Scott-RFC 308
He's still trying to play the same box to box game he's always played but his legs are failing him a bit. Ends up chasing shadows.Needs to adapt his game, but still top class on the ball.
