London (EFE). Andy Murray has finally released its 26 years of a heavy burden he carried for several years, the British public demand to leave Wimbledon trophy home for the first time since 1936.

Murray broke his curse on center court at the All England Club last summer to win an Olympic medal in London 2012, but still had to go back to that scene in the third Grand Slam of the year and become one of the world's oldest tournaments sport (this was the edition number 127).

The victory over world number one, Novak Djokvoic, puts an end to the Scottish dozens of hours in the press room talking about the pressure on whenever the UK stops to watch him play in the Wimbledon Centre .

After losing three consecutive semifinals in London and have fallen in last year's final to Roger Federer, Murray went to the track this time convinced that it is one of the great, capable of beating anyone in a Grand Slam, as it did in the U.S. Open final, where he also defeated Djokovic in the final game.

The result of this conviction is that the Scot has inscribed his name one line below the Fred Perry in the list of British champions of Wimbledon.

Among both records have gone 77 years, a real desert island tennis, now restored some pride.

COULD BE FOOTBALL

This milestone is the final consecration of a player who began playing at age three run by his mother, Judy, a former national coach of Scotland, and was animated from the start by his older brother, Jamie, with which it shares the doubles.

Murray takes the sport in the veins since childhood: he almost part of the Glasgow Rangers, but eventually his racquet skills surpassed his passion for football.

Encouraged by the success in the junior circuit and his friend Rafa Nadal, Andy changed the rainy Scotland for Barcelona at fourteen. On the shores of the Mediterranean honed his tennis academy Sanchez-Casal and started in junior tournaments then jumps to the ITF circuit.

At 18, the lanky physique Murray had improved, too thin, and had managed to break into the top 400 ATP players. As a junior player, the youngest of the Murray won the U.S. Open, French Open finalist and world number 10 hit in that category.

ROAD TO GLORY

The year in which finally entered into the tennis elite was 2008, when it surpassed the third round of a Grand Slam for planting in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and went after the end of the United States, where he lost to Roger Federer Federer.

It was the beginning of your stay at the highest level, but also the beginning of its history as a perpetual victim. The following year he again reached semi-finals, the first at Wimbledon, but was defeated, as in the final of Australia in 2010 and again, in the semifinal in London the following year.

The worst came in 2011, when Australia lost the final and the semifinals of the other major tournaments: Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the U.S.. His curse still continue in the semifinals in Melbourne in 2012 and in the Wimbledon final that year, when he fell to Federer.

Finally, at the end of that season, Murray was able to raise for the first time in his career Grand Slam trophy of the United States, an achievement that opened the door to his most fruitful period so far.

I heard a pundit on talksport just the other day saying we almost signed Messi when he was 17.

Is there any truth in this?

I find it hard to believe, probably because of the superstar he has become.

This is a true story. Alex McLeish wanted to bring him to Ibrox on loan for a season which was looking good but then a split in the boardroom meant one half said no and one said yes, obviously the no people prevailed.

Then, we tried to get Iniesta instead and that looked even more likely but, due to an injury, he was flung into the first team.

Don't believe me? Just search Alex McLeish Lionel Messi into Google.

Let's be honest, if we had got Messi, he'd have been stuck out wide left and labelled "too lightweight"
