Inigo 32,686
McCoist was the best. Negri and Mols could have been up there as well. Hateley, Johnston, Prso, Arveladze and Jelavic were brilliant forwards too.

Inigo 32,686
Mets understood the Jelavic worship. He was a good player but doesn't belong on that list. Yeah, I sort of agree. If I put them in order he'd definitely be last.
IainB 599
Coisty for sure BUT Colin Colin Stein One of the greatest ever seen. Add Jim Forrest to that list as well. BUT I am an old fart....
KingKai 439
Jim Forrest.... except at Berwick!
IainB 599
Jim Forrest.... except at Berwick! He certainly got the blame for that debacle, but one game? Does he not still hold the record for most goals in the league in a season?
ianferguson 2,619
If the ball was to fall at the feet of any Rangers player inside the box (past or present ) i'd want it to be Kris Boyd .Goals per chances ratio is best i've seen at Ibrox.Negri only had half a season so does'nt count for me .Mols had most ability and super Ally had a bit of everything . TheLawMan 6,240
Mols had everything. Vision, pace, skill and he could finish. He still can incidentally. But for injury he would have been undoubtedly number one. But the injury hampered his longevity so it goes to none other than Super Ally. siddiqi_drinker 14,635
Lets stick to the facts:Jimmy Smith 249 goals in 259 games = 96%Jim Forrest 145 goals in 163 games = 89%Robert Hamilton 184 in 209 games = 88%Marco Negri 36 goals in 42 games = 86%Willie Reid 195 goals in 230 games = 85% Jimmy Fleming 223 goals in 268 games = 83%Max Murray 121 goals in 154 games = 79%Geordie Henderson 142 goals in 195 games = 73%Billy Simpson 163 goals in 239 games = 68%Kris Boyd 128 goals in 192 games = 67%Ralph Brand 206 goals in 317 games = 65%Bob McPhail 261 in 408 games = 64%Willie Thornton 194 in 308 games = 63%Ally McCoist 355 goals in 581 games = 61%Sam English 41 goals in 72 games = 57%James Marshall 125 goals in 225 games = 56 Everyone plays the 'if only' game with Negri and in particular Michael Mols. Reckon we'd have beaten Bayern in the CWC final in '67 'if only' Jim Forrest had not been made a scapegoat for Berwick.Oh well.......

Reckon we'd have beaten Bayern in the CWC final in '67 'if only' Jim Forrest had not been made a scapegoat for Berwick.Oh well.......I'm not sure the facts have the answer in this one though. Comparing Forrest, Smith and Hamiltons record with Ally's is like comparing the other mhobs European Cup win with say Manchester Uniteds in Barcelona. Or closer to home, comparing Walters win record as manager over Ally's this season. There is absolutely no doubt that the modern era footballers and teams have a harder job scoring and chalking up clean sheets than the days of ole when beating Clyde and Third Lanark 6-0 were a pastime. In my opinion of course.

Johnny Hubbard 280
He certainly got the blame for that debacle, but one game? Does he not still hold the record for most goals in the league in a season?as I remember it, Forrest was prolific at the start but had dried up well before Berwick
