Vanguard Bears explain the reasons why Glasgow City Council are withholding the Geo Technical report for the Westthorn site, sold at a knock-down price to Celtic F.C

.

First, some background. Two adjacent pieces of land, in close proximity to Celtic Stadium, have been sold off to private organisations (one to housing developers, Kier Homes, and one to Celtic F.C.) for substantially different prices.

The old Belvidere Hospital site was sold by the NHS to the developer for approx £8.1M.

The Old Westthorn Recreation Ground (London Road) which is in close proximity to Celtic Stadium, was sold by Glasgow City Council to Celtic for £493,000 (ex. VAT).

The reason given for this huge reduction in price is that due to ground 'abnormals', houses could not be built on the site, thus seemingly reducing the land's value significantly. Glasgow City Council claimed the reason the piece of land sold to Celtic was so much cheaper was because it is/was contaminated. As we will show, this claim is false.

Over the last few months we have seen the gradual unearthing (no pun intended) of the truth surrounding the sale of the Westthorn site to the Celtic FC. The continued refusal by GCC to hand over the Geo Technical report has enraged many trying to establish the true reasoning for the far-below-value sale of the plot.

Well, as GCC do not want to reveal the report, we have established the facts of the Westthron plot and have published our findings.

There are no underground faults that would destabilise any building work. as can be seen in the graphic below:

There is no hidden soil composition that would prevent building. The bore hole report from the site to a depth of 36m shows nothing that would prevent building homes on the land.

To put this in perspective the site next door where the former Belvidere Hospital was situated is now the site of Belvidere Village, a housing development built by Keir Homes and the soil composition is as good as Westthorn. The Belvidere site that was sold for £15.2M minus £7.1M for the remediation work that was required to rid the site of foundations and lead pipework from the old hospital.

Just to finish it off, the myth of contamination was busted yesterday with a Freedom Of Information disclosure from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to a request by Big Joe Canoe. There was no contamination!

So, now there is irrefutable proof that there was not, and are no abnormal ground conditions nor contamination in place at Westthorn, we hope that along with the footballing authorities, the European Commission look deeply into this matter and commence a full scale, thorough investigation into the unfair and illegal State Aid that has been given to Celtic F.C. causing an unfair sporting advantage at best, and straight-up fraud at worst.

ADDENDUM: Glasgow City Council have repeatedly refused to release information with regards to any geotechnical report they may have instructed. They refuse to release information in response to direct queries in relation to the supposed contamination. They cite confidentiality exceptions to the Freedom of Information Act(Regulation 10(5)(e) as outweighing the public interest in disclosing the information.

Read it earlier and normally would wonder why it's up again but to be honest, this is the sort of stuff that our fan base should be concerned about. I'd happily see this pinned to the forum home page!

It's on Vanguards website for all to see, including the media but they seem strangely uninterested.

How about Mark Daly doing a documentary called " GCC - the council who sold the uncontaminated land"?

It's hard to put into words how annoyed I am with the state aid scandal, but feel alot better because it's now getting exposed.

What's interesting is that in this day and age all of this information can and has been found. One wonders how the national press will act if that lot get found guilty and fined by a large amount.

This could go nuclear if the EU decide to investigate, potentially we have a club that's broken European law here and this is not just some daft Football matter. EU are already investigating Spanish clubs over this and they can't do that while not looking into timmy's shenanigans.

bornabear. Never mind a shout. How about a banner or two. Wonder how the Sky commentaters would try to sweep that. Would make a change from them apologising for bad language. Oh sorry - that was the bheast broadcassting cabal.

Rangers, my team not my project.

Banners behind both goals, would be very nice.

Vanguard Bears are to the Socialist Republic of Scotland what those brave, dedicated patriots are to Ulster. An absolute credit to Rangers, Loyalism and the United Kingdom.

We have been bastardised from pillar to post regarding a legal tax loophole. Time to out these filthy, inbred, ungrateful tramps in their place and show up this Leftie, Irish Republican scandal.

PZJ, Vanguard Bears and others. Take a bow. Forget painting your bedsheets to campaign for Super Dooper Real Rangers' men behalf, deal with out enemies as you have been doing.

Vanguard Bears. The Peoples Forum.

If the tims and GCC are guilty of this. where would that leave Scottish Football and the image of Glasgow as a whole....corrupt?

There's us and them, they destroyed us, if they go after them then Scottish Football is fucked, the suits in the SFA and SPFL won't let it happen, the media won't let it happen, the Scottish government won't let it happen.

Excuses will be made, doors will be closed and the biggest brush ever seen will be brought into use.

Our only hope is UEFA for imapartiality but it seems funny that Liewell has just been given a seat on some European board.

And another thing bears. I'm not political, I genuinely have no affiliation to any political party.

I'm also no longer live in Glasgow.

However, let me ask you this question ( again!). Now that you know about the above 'land deal' and of course the 'co-op bank loan' then how the fuck could any self respecting bluenose vote for the Labour Party either at council or parliamentary level?

I think it's the ECA he's joined which they've been telling us is irrelevant and doesn't matter since it was one of the first organisations to say we are the same club we've always been.

As much as the SFA/SPFL want to protect them they can do nothing Uefa have no say in the matter either, it's the European union that are looking into this. Clubs in Spain and Holland are also being looked at as well, it will be a slow burn but one day it's going to hit the fan big time.
