A lot of the discussion makes the very big assumption that we will be promoted this season. An assumption that is understandable and fair enough - but right now its still an assumption and a big one at that. We've shown already how an 11 point lead can be leaked away. Its still only January and promotion still has to be earned.

Is the squad as it stands good enough? Probably, assuming no injuries. And probably, assuming they stay motivated enough. And probably, assuming they have the bottle to deal with the inevitable pressure that will increase the closer we get to the bit of the season when the honours are won.

So what has this got to do with DK investment (or lack of it)? The point is, if money is available to buy players that should create an extra and decisive edge to winning promotion then the money should be spent now if the right players are available. Talk about not paying over the odds is all very well - but what price is the Manager and the Club putting on a failure to get promoted? Holding out for a good deal is one thing - passing up on players who the Manager presumably reckons would make a big difference and looking back to regret it is another thing. If they need the players, and the players want to come then time to stop talking about deals and actually do the deals.

Tbf that comes under what MW has been talking about since day 1. Value. Both on and off the pitch.

We have to trust the board and management to deliver that, if a player offers value both on and off the pitch and deemed vital to achieve our target then we have to trust they'll make that call. Even MW says if we get 7/10 right we're doing good.

top 3 isnt good enough though, we have been lucky that the tarriers have fucked 2 years worth of CL money up by hiring that clown they have the now

we need to be 2nd without a doubt in our first season if not better, and as much as it was a one off game, the st johnstone game is a sign that we arent near the level, especially consistently, required for the top league

Second or third, what difference does it make? I'd settle for a top three in our first season back followed by a title win in our 2nd season. Very achievable.

I don't talk about other teams, it's about Rangers Football Club for me :P

Tbf you're drawing a lot of conclusions from that "one off game", you're not the only one.

what other games would you like to use, fact is our one proper test this season seen us come up quite a bit short, it isnt a bad thing overall imo, we know we are short in areas and lacking depth of ability, im more highlighting the fact that people were raving about our guys, calling for them to be valued at millions, when there was no justification for that

Too much going on just now to chuck money about. MW has a busness mind as well as a football manager. No point in signing Ronaldo just yet. We'er ahead and looking good. As folk have said, you can spend but not achieve results.

I'm going to trust DK on this. The man will come good when needed. Watch this summer.

Well, I just don't see how anyone can claim we won't be consistently good enough in the premiership seemingly solely based on a one off game. It's an oxymoron. <cr>

unfortunately its the only evidence we have to go on

we clearly feel o'halloran will add ability and depth to the first team squad, and if we can get him now for half a mill then surely its better than waiting till the summer, getting to the premiership and getting told he's valued at say a million or trying to fight with an english team perhaps for his signature
