Our best 11

What do you reckon our best 11 would be, if everyone was injury-free!

For me:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Wes

Tavernier

McCrorie

Alves

John

Jack

Rossiter

Candeias

Dorrans

Windass(?)

Morelos

The only real weak link I see there is the left midfield role, but other than that - that’s a solid enough team on paper!

Curious to see what everyone else feels is out best 11..

When everyone is fully fit i'd like us to try

Fod

Tav Alves McCrorie Wallace

Candeias Jack Dorrans Holt John

Morelos

I think it gives us a good balance all over the park,  more solid defensively (especially on the left), pace and energy to support Morelos, and a good mix in the midfield 3 of dig, legs and a bit more freedom to allow Dorrans to play..................

Would love to hear why Rossiter should be starting...

You'll be waiting a while. He's an enforcer/superstar in the waiting, apparently.

For me

Foderingham/Alnwick (both OK goalkeepers, neither anything amazing.)

Tav (shite but the best right-back option we've got.)
McCrorie
Alves
Wallace (shite but the best left-back option we've got.)

Candaies (right wing)
Dorrans
Jack
John (left wing)

Morelos
Herrera

Not a great line-up to be honest, but the best of what we've got.

Well ffs, so now you steal my pick!

Spot on IMHO. Took the words right out my mouth.

I can only hope the longer they play together that the sum total is greater than the individuals. Build up the character, get a better understanding of each other and improve the fluency.

The defence remains a worry, but going forward I can see DJ doing damage if he can consistently turn up like last night

Best we are going to get this side of xmas.

I think John is capable of that but only in an attacking sense against second-rate sides like Hamilton. There's games he will look isolated and in-effective, but there will be other games (like last night) when he's on form against weaker sides and can have a good input in the final third.

Wes

Tav   Alves  McCrorie  John

Candaeis   Dorrans    Jack   Windass/ Pena?

Moerelos   Herrera

Toss of a coin between Windass and Pena for the left sided slot. Both need to do a lot more to be regular starters.

Strong looking team imho.

No point in playing John in front of Wallace. You have to pick one or the other for an attacking left back.

The reason Wallace does well going forward is he plays with someone in front who is right footed and will cut inside leaving space for Wallace to overlap.

If you played Wallace and John then they'd just get on each other's way as both are naturally attacking full backs.

It's far from perfect, but who else goes in? Hodson instead of Wallace? ... or Windass in front of Wallace? ... John is not a left-back IMO so we're pretty fucked there. I'm just putting the 11 strongest players for each position really. The blend and thought process is for our manager and coaching team to inplement. I'm not saying we are great or have great options.

Kept the same formation as you, but switched a few players.
