Mad that some people have watched our defending in the last 2 games and found it acceptable just because we kept a clean sheet. We’ve been lucky that we haven’t been playing against anyone

Seems some are still seething they were proved wrong in claiming Worrall was far better than Katic last year. The reason a lot of us want him playing is despite not being perfect he’s been streets ahead of anyone else we’ve seen at the back this season not because of some myth that he can do no wrong. If he was out there looking like a dumpling playing shite balls out of defence every game I’d be fuming at him as well but the fact is more often than not he’s been an absolute rock for us and against pishy long ball teams guarantees you won’t get beat in the air.

If Morelos has 2 slightly below par games where he still hasn’t really made any glaring mistakes would be be dropped? Would Jack get punted for Andy King in the same situation? Definitely not and rightly so, so why is it fair that it’s happening to this lad

You’ve got to look long term as well, he could be worth a fortune to someone down south or abroad in the future so do you really want to piss him off to the extent he forces a move say next summer for a small fee then shines elsewhere only to be worth 10 million+

Should end the thread to be honest.

But the we must be right brigade will give you stats mate stats and stats.

So no stats then for the CB pairing.

When did we include Davis and McGregor in this debate??

About 3 pages ago when they were used to dismiss the clean sheets in Helander's games. But you knew that already because you replied to the post

Good so we can throw out the stat on no conceded goals to back up a poor defensive display.

So stat disproved then pages ago and you are still banging on about it.

It was disproved? Who has scored against us in any of Helander's five competitive starts? I'll even list the games so you can 'disprove' that we've kept clean sheets in all five games.

East Fife - 3 - 0

St. Mirren - 1- 0

Feyenoord - 1 - 0

St. Johnstone - 4 - 0

Livingston - 1 - 0

To stop shots on goal, goalkeeper is to save any shots the defenders can’t stop.

Thought that was pretty obvious.

And if a defensive unit has stopped the opposition team from getting any shots on goal that leads to a goal, then it's reasonable to assume the defenders have done a reasonable job - even if you can isolate one chance from a 90 minute game and hang your hat on that

Absolute nonsense

Bad finishing or decision making in the final third from a poor team doesn’t equate to good defending

Football isn’t this black and white which is why stats rarely ever tell the full story

It doesn't, however having shots at goal doesn't simply equate to poor defending either.
