If we're trying to argue that Dessers is good enough by comparing to previous strikers then we should be comparing him to a standard which is actually considered to be good enough to be our main striker, which universally Morelos' last couple seasons weren't, so it's not achieving anything to compare to Morelos when Morelos was shit for us. Are we missing the point where I also said Dessers has had 3 good season out of 11? So you've picked one of those good ones, great. Why not phrase the question like this and put it back to you then, would you pick Dessers up front over any of the other strikers you named when they were at their peaks for us? No. I wouldn’t on current form. I’ve said I wouldn’t in the original, post.

Injury problems or not fancied by managers at the 8 clubs he's been at? Him having played that much less is not in any way mitigating his lack of goals. Only you compare averages. Good strikers are judged on the number of goals they score. The golden boot doesn't get awarded to the best goals per 90 minute striker. So if we judge strikers by the number of goals scored, was Dado Prso a good striker? He only scored 92 goals in his entire professional career and 4 of them were in single game. He scored a Rangers goal every 252 mins

Just proves what I always say, stats can pretty much be skewed however you want them to be to suit whatever narrative it is you are trying to push. Not true: Dado Prso who was a goal every 252 mins at Rangers! EDIT: you’re right, Dessers is 254 at Rangers.

He scored a Rangers goal every 334 mins Prso offered so much more than goals and generally played up front with a partner during a period where 442 was still the norm. He had a fairly mediocre career until he hit his late 20s as well. He also had a fairly mediocre 2nd and 3rd season with us but is just remembered fondly. He scored 118 career goals. So if Dessers contributes more to the team, plays up front with a partner in a 442 and maintains his current scoring rate (which is a currently just a bawhair shy or Prso’s o/all record at Rangers with Dessers playing in a shit team under a shit manager ) will be be remembered fondly? DeanMK 5,242
Those stats are a bit dubious mate. Are you sure they're accurate? Did you obtain the minutes played for each player or have you just multiplied their games played by 90 minutes, because if that's the case then you wouldn't have accounted for sub appearances. Anything that suits your narrative is relevant, anything that doesn't suit your narrative is irrelevant? Seems that way.
BouncyBluenose87 1,595
Took his goal when on Saturday. Was it just my imagination, or did he also look a bit more trim? Looked to me like he'd been putting in the hard yards over the international break. Hopefully he's getting his mojo back. Not writing him off just yet.
