  1. Good news and a warning to several other clubs who are nothing more than a plaything for very wealthy people.
  2. Rangers celebrated the opening of the Broomloan Road stand with a 2-1 win over a star-studded Spurs side featuring the front line of Ossie Ardiles, Ricardo Villa, Glenn Hoddle and Steve Archibald. Whilst the Spurs side may have had a duo of Argetinian World Cup stars, the Rangers had the talents of Davie Cooper on show and it was the Moody Blue who helped to open the scoring for the Light Blues in a blistering start, with his cross headed back across goal by Colin Jackson and put over the line by the head of Ian Redford. Newly signed Jim Bett and Colin McAdam impressed throughout the friendly and it was the latter who scored the second goal of the game for the Gers by getting his head onto a long Redford cross. Spurs pulled one back through John Lacy after some nice work by Ardiles, but it was too late and the Gers won the match 2-1. Rangers 2:1 Tottenham Ibrox Stadium Attendance: 35,000 Rangers: Peter McCloy, Sandy Jardine, Alex Miller, Tom Forsyth, Colin Jackson, Jim Bett, Davie Cooper, Bobby Russell, Colin McAdam, Ian Redford, John MacDonald Subs: Derek Johnstone SPURS: Barry Daines, Gordon Smith, Chris Hughton, Terry Yorath, John Lacy, Steve Perryman, Osvaldo Ardiles, Steve Archibald, Garth Crooks, Glenn Hoddle, Ricardo Villa
  3. Might be the same lad from this footage. Apparently Everton at the top of the video and Millwall at the bottom, 13 seconds in and you can see someone hit in the face and he backs off holding his face.
  4. There used to be a supporters club in Walsall several years ago, I assume its now gone? Supporters club in Stoke run a bus from Stafford if thats any good for you.
  5. And we took to the pitch to celebrate, just exuberance obviously!
  6. Buried my dad in his masonic regalia and as we lowered his coffin into his grave I placed his masonic black penny on top of it. I regret that now though as I wish i'd kept it. One of the undertakers was obviously on the square as well as he spoke to me later and passed on his condolences.

  8. Away leg is confirmed on Premier Sports, was hoping they'd have the home leg as well.
  9. You're correct, in Euro games the away team has the option of training on the pitch the night before, some do it and some don't.
  10. Precisely why the league will never allow us to strike our own tv deal, we'd have tens of thousands of subscribers and the rest of the league, tims aside, would be left scratching about for any sort of deal.
  11. A Knighthood for Kenny Dalglish, well deserved in my opinion. Tin hat at the ready.
  12. Had a stadium tour the day we played Aberdeen at home 85-86 season. We couldn't go in our dressing room as some of the players were in already so they took us into the away dressing room as they thought it was empty but Fergie was sitting in there on his own. Had a very quick talk with him and a photo, came across as a nice bloke.
  13. Takes me back to the first league game with Souness as manager, Hibs away. Not the best result but plenty of team spirit when called on in the centre circle, . That season finished well though so fingers crossed.
  14. Same here. I was 10 and can still remember the crush in the old Rangers end as you left after the game.
  15. I was in the West side of the main stand and saw it, as soon as Lennon made the "get it right up you" gesture the police officer came out from next to the tunnel and spoke to the 4th official. I couldn't believe it when he came back out for the 2nd half. Graham Roberts was charged with breach of the peace for less.
  16. This pic was on the front page of Follow Follow in 94 and included as a poster inside, I've still got the poster as I'm in the picture. Can't find the copy of Follow Follow but I'm sure it was titled "The East Enclosure Bouncy Boys."
  17. Even 3rd seems like a tall order right at this moment.
  18. Our neighbour used to have one in the late 70's. The local weans used to push it up the road and he'd have to struggle with his walking sticks to get to it, I was never involved in that of course
  19. Did we play Hearts the day he made his debut? I'd travelled up on the nightrider train from Euston with the London branch for that match, bought a paper Saturday morning at Central Station and it was on the back page.
  20. Pretty sure I remember taking my sister to her first OF game at Ibrox where we were in the main stand and had to queue up almost next to them, think it may have been the game where Roberts finished in goal.
