Tommy Burns , when he became manager in 1994 , wanted Cairney back .

Why would he do so given that he must have known about the 1991 allegations against Cairney.

When Burns started playing for the tarriers he remained a close friend of Hugh Stevenson the serial child sex abuser and SFA referee/linesman, having met him as a boy at Eastercraigs A.F.C. around 1969/70.

I believe it was Fergus McCann who kaboshed Cairneys return bid by Burns due to his unsavoury history

so obviously someone within nonce fc briefed McCann who they were and Burns being a good friend  of Cairney would most certainly have been aware of the previous allegations made against Cairney in 1991

I don't think Burns was an abuser but he was very close to one
