  1. Completely irrelevant, I have just as many (in quantity) as McCoist but it doesn't mean I'd be a better manager. On the topic, though, I think we should be looking beyond results. We should be able to expect a certain level of standard to our play, not just winning. Surely it's better to look at how results will be achieved in future when playing against better opposition (performance) and focus on that. I'm not saying we need to play like Barcelona, but I believe we should have an identifiable style to our play rather than punt it to the striker and lets see. I suspect that short-sightedness will cost us at least a season (whether that is promotion next season, or a delay in challenging for the Premiership title) and that we should be looking at more than just results in assessing Ally. I'll support him while he is in charge, but in all honesty; do I think he is of sufficient calibre to manage Rangers? No, I do not and that could be based on results while still in the top flight (before relegation) and the lack of any style of play.
  2. While he's been unlucky with injuries I consider him to be a poor signing and if hivs are willing to pay for him i'd gladly see him go. If not, he can sit in the reserves for trying to be so fucking greedy! A pay off and a new contract with another club? If this is true he shouldn't play for us again,
  3. He was playing for an amateur team because he came through their youth setup (partially). Perhaps its a similar kind of arrogance that leads to us losing out on talented players?
  4. He was on an amateur contract, meaning he was available for free. He was also a teenager (and still is)
  5. The latest additions may (or may not) be partly down to Peter Houston (who is now a first team scout with them). From my knowledge Park's role was split between development and scouting - for the pro academy as well as the first team
  6. Hi guys, Not watched a game online in a while. has anyone got any sites that show streams? Free, of course Cheers
  7. The comments in the paper were aimed at asking too much of the fans, not so much the players (look at the quotes, not the journo filler).
  8. No doubt a talented player but plays for himself more than the team. Wouldn't be annoyed if he left (and I was really happy when he signed). Everything just needs to be a "world cup ball" prime example being trying to chip the keeper on boxing day instead of just rolling it into the net. Not for a second suggesting dropping points was down to him, but theres no point in flair without a product.
  9. We need to be careful who we let go as next season will be a lot tougher than some realise. No more playing part timers every week and the difference between the top of the 2nd tier and the bottom of the first is marginal. We will still win it though as I believe we will consider the value of the players we let go rather than their earnings. I.E Fringe players like Cribari will be the first to go and those contributing (even if earning a good wage) will stay. Where that leaves Templeton, McKay et al is up to them and how they perform for the opening of 2014.
  10. There is nothing wrong with my ability to understand things. Dubious as it may be, they are not the sole beneficiaries from the games. That's my point. QP received a brand new training pavillion. A privately owned company receiving state aid, as it's been put in other posts. Hampden was upgraded for the closing ceremony and athletics and other venues (Scotstoun for example) received upgrades too. If we're going to make a big deal about inappropriate use of public funds, lets not get mistaken for them and tell the whole story. In your scenario above, I see your point. But the reason that specific area is getting more resource spent on it, is because of the athletes village location. The selection process for that, is a different debate I feel.
  11. Yeah, on a personal level it's up to you how you react to it. My point was, why in BD?
  12. their midden was picked because of close proximity to the athletes village, which was picked because regulations state that all venues must be within 20 minutes of the village (with the exception of shooting and aquatics). Most other areas were unsuitable to host the village, although Govan may have had a chance. Don't forget that the chosen area also had to host the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome too. Benefits will be felt city wide not just where the opening ceremony takes place. Got to admit guys that apart from hosting Rugby Sevens, I don't see what this has to do with us?
  13. From reports at reserve level maybe this is the key reason McKay isn't getting a game and that Aird (not 35 year old Lee McCulloch) is ahead of him in the pecking order - among others. The boy needs to get his finger out and work hard to deserve to be in the team.
  14. I agree, we aren't getting anywhere near as much out of him out there. I'd much rather we use CMs in competition with each other rather than stifle width by accomodating them there. McKay, Temps etc should be competing for the wider positions, likewise Black, Peralta, Macleod for the central positions.
  15. I've come up against Todd at college football level, he managed Cumbernauld College against my team. Nice guy by all accounts.
  16. As soon as he went home to think about it I'd have ripped up the offer.
  17. Would he have an issue if he was good enough to be "judged" - I mean managed - by top professionals who have never played the game professionally? A lack of playing experience doesn't seem to hinder your ability to manage a team so how would it impair an ability to review an appeal? Stupid excuse - although there is an imbalance in fairness of the system he is criticising. Edit: not that I'm saying those on the panel are top professionals btw,
  18. Very, very harsh IMO. Having seen him a couple times at right back (out of position btw), I saw a pacey FB who likes to support. Seemed to understand defensive responsibilities in terms of tucking in to cover which is rare for a young fullback (ask shittaker). I for one wouldn't be against him getting more game time before we judge him. Better than Cole already from what I have seen, but if CB is the long term aim then there may be better options. (EDIT: the times he has been caught out, as all youngsters will, have been covering for lack of pressure on his side further up the pitch)
  19. We tried to get both under McLeish according to the Guardiola book
  20. From what I see it's the jump from U17's to U19's (ish) and the jump from there to the first team that is the issue. We are still really good at U17s (have won the Glasgow Cup four out of the last 5 years and twice in a row). We seem to just make poor decisions on these players at crunch time - rather than their development stalling as such. Obviously not all of the U13s will "make it" but they are all way above everyone else in the Country as it stands now - and with many of them part of the performance schools they get even more football each day/week. Also every champions league winner was 13 at some point - you never know what these kids will do
  21. My team played against the U13s (then 12s) last season and the Rangers boys are tremendous. Easily regarded as one of the best in Europe and regularly go down and beat teams south of the border. The future is bright
  22. I find it suspicious that Walter goes so soon after taking up the post - IMO it has to have something to do with Green. No way would Walter Smith take up the position of Chairman of Rangers Football Club and leave within 3 months if something wasn't wrong - and I mean more than boardroom squabbling. I'm confused by his statement though. I don't understand what he wants us to back.
  23. I've been one to have digs at Ally's management (not Ally himself, if you see what I mean) but I was happy with the way we tried to play. We didn't look quite as fluid in the 4-4-2 as we did with the 1 sitting and three in front but I see the point of having Little cut in from the left to leave space for Wallace (I suggested Barrie McKay could have been used in this way). The cameras on Gaelic TV weren't great, but it looked like Temps playing more centrally can anyone at the game confirm? I missed out as I was on a course and just got in for kick off . Gallacher kicked really well and we did try to play out from the back, but i'd just rather it a little more often. Again, I see the point in mixing it up. A vast improvement in our approach to the game in my opinion from last season. This was the thing I wanted Ally to change and provided it continues and we are consistent in our results, I'm a happy bear
