  1. I said SDM would be happy Hutton rejected Spurs. To be honest it wouldn't impact on SDM - he loves Rangers and would have given Smith all the proceeds to spend on new players. So in terms of the impact on finances at Rangers - £nil in my opinion. What money Smith makes in the transfer market goes on players - Smith and McCoist wouldn't have it any other way. Smith - Legend McCoist - Legend SDM - Legend
  2. Not if Rangers have already accepted the bid. As a previous post says this better not be the first bid considering other clubs are rumoured to be interested. Possibly could have held out for more. Has a club ever accepted Rangers' first bid for a player as they hold out for more??? None that springs to mind other than Whitaker!
  3. Great pic. Nice to see them paying their respects together.
  4. "Close Friend"?? Close friend of how many in the Celtic squad?? 1 maybe 2?? Half of the Celtic squad probably didn't know he had ever played for Celtic until Saturday night! We'll go for 1 (McDonald) - why not decide not to play McDonald like usually happens when one person in a squad is upset by a close persons death - look at Darcheville last week. For me the ultimate respect to O'Donnell would have been for the old firm fans to join in a minutes respect. I was going to the game and wanted to pay my respects along with the Celtic support. They would be more upset than most of the Celtic squad, you wouldn't have seen them stay away from the game. RIP O'Donnell
  5. Given the number of bookings Hutton has been getting, he could well be suspended for the rearranged fixture.
  6. CIS Semi is the 31st Jan, so the OF wont be on then Maybe they'll go for Wednesday 23rd January?? Hope not cos i'm still down south (( But i suggest Saturday 2 February is the best date for rescheduling!!! Plus old firm games are better when played at weekends.
  7. Given that there is an international weekend at the start of February i would suggest that we schedule the old firm game for then. I don't think Scotland have a match scheduled for then and we don't even have a manager as yet! So why not play it then?? We wouldn't really be affected by foreigners playing for other countries would we: Cuellar - no, Darche - no, Cousin - no, Hemdani - no. Hopefully Ireland would have a match that weekend and McGeady was called up..... no way could Celtic complain given that he was meant to be suspended for it originally. From a personal point of view i hope its not scheduled for the last midweek in January cos i have a ticket for the match and i'll be down south working!!
  8. Ferguson was just as bad as adam today! does he get the same treatment? i think the point of the post is that Adam has and never will be good enough to be a regular starter for Rangers. Ferguson was simply off-form today, Adam wasn't off-form as he isn't really capable of that much better in my opinion.
  9. I don't agree at all that ferguson looked like he wanted a fight. A couple of flashpoints which could have resulted in yellow cards.... BUT given that he wasn't given a yellow for the first incident then you can't use them to argue he should have been sent off. First Incident: Shoulder barge at time of Hutton's tackle - could have been a yellow Second Incident: Running over to stop McCulloch getting involved - doesn't sound to me like he was "LOOKING FOR A FIGHT" in this incident as he was playing the peacemaker. Pity the commentators couldn't see it. Third Incident: Grabbed throat of Maguire - at most a yellow. Hearts keeper did the same yesterday and got a yellow for it. Boruc did it to Davie Weir and you never heard anyone demanding a red card for it.
  10. Correct - and it was really pissing me off that the (ahem) impartial commentary team were hell bent on dragging it up every few seconds. I was going mental at the tv when they constantly mentioned fergie's "involvement" before half-time. Ferguson tries to play peacemaker but they didn't want to see it that way. Disappointed with Ferguson grabbing Maguire's throat. Gave the ref the opportunity to send him off but its not the type of incident where you go back and give a retrospetive red card.... otherwise you'd end up with 5 or 6 reds yesterday and 5 or 6 every old firm game. I've seen a picture of boruc grabbing Davie Weir by the throat, and i don't recall a clamour from the media to get Boruc a retrospective red card then.
  11. I have a video of me being a mascot in 1986 with McCoist, Durrant, Butcher and Cooper. Amazing! But more souvenir wise, i have the match program from Davie Cooper's Testimonial
  12. I absolutely hated that at games. It was embarrasing as f*ck as he was so f*cken brutal. I suppose it became a bit of a joke but to be honest i think its much more embarrassing when we boo our own players no matter how bad they are. A bit of support even if he was brutal is a lot better.
  13. well what about gstq? its also anti scottish. with the quote "rebellious scots to crush" and another thing she is qeII of england only q elizabeth the 1st of Scotland. Scottish 1st and last. No other nation means a thing. Saor Alba! 1314 Quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Save_the_Queen "Around 1745, the anti-Jacobite sentiment was captured in a fourth verse, with a prayer for the success of George Wade's army then assembling at Newcastle. These words attained some short-term popularity, although they did not appear in the published version in Gentleman's Magazine: Lord, grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush and like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God save the King. This verse was abandoned soon after, and certainly before the song became accepted as the British national anthem in the 1780s and 1790s.[20][21] Despite the short-lived currency of this verse, it is still cited as a reason for the anthem causing great offence when sung in most parts of Scotland, even though the motive for its writing drew on what was essentially a religious divide (the Protestantism of the Hanoverians vs. the Catholicism of the Jacobites) rather than one between England and Scotland." RULE BRITANNIA
  14. I originally voted in favour of singing FoS but think i might have changed my mind due to some good comments. First of all as a club we are proud to be scottish and british, the problem is FoS talks about sending "homewards to think again" - doesn't quite fit in with flying the Union Flag beside the Saltire. Secondly in the climate of offensive songs being targetted, i think singing a song about fighting the English could be seen as offensive. If we started singing it, does anyone think the "offensive" nature of the song would be picked up on???? how ironic given that no-one complains about it at the moment. Having said all that, i would love to sing some other scottish song at Ibrox along with Rule Britannia. Singing a scottish song really would wind up the other mob wouldn't it!!!!
  15. I'm in Las Vegas on holiday and wondering if anyone knows how i can see the red star game?? i assume the internet is the best option, but not sure what websites etc are likely to show it, any help would be appreciated! Cheers in advance
  16. That article is full of complete rubbish, its really annoyed me too!! "The club's response is to try to evade censure by banning its own fans from away matches - which amounts to denying other clubs an income and denying its own decent fans the ability to support the team. It's like covering a cancerous skin growth with a (presumably red, white and blue) neck scarf." - What a rubbish comparison, if the right to attend away games is removed then fans might sit up and realise they can't sing the songs. This would certainly help solve the problem but i hope it doesn't come to that. To compare such a solution to covering a cancerous skin growth with a scarf shows how daft this guy is! "The club frequently cites all the great things it is doing to overturn the problem. Yet only a few years ago it was milking it by selling commemorative Orange tops to celebrate its then Dutch manager. Also, the seats in the main stand were recently coloured in a massive Union flag." - My God!!!! Thanking our vast dutch contingent for their contribution to our success is shocking isn't it!! And how dare a british team parade a massive Union Flag..... i mean that is so racist! "Rangers should not be allowed to dictate the terms of the response to a culture they have created. They should be docked points and then - if the problem persists - kicked out of the league." - How have Rangers created this cultural problem!!!??? Rangers may be used as a vehicle by some people but they certainly did not create it. Rangers Football Club has made every effort recently but the fact is its a scottish cultural problem and police should act the same in the stands as they would if they heard anything sectarian on the streets.
  17. I totally see where you are coming from but i "enjoy" listening to radio clyde. Radio Scotland tends to bore me.... maybe i'm there target audience then!!??
  18. To be honest the match tonight made me realise how difficult it is to play up front on your own in Europe and how its not only Boyd who struggles. I don't think JCD offered anything extra than Boyd usually does in similar games.... and in terms of goal threat i'd say JCD offers much less.
  19. Yep the ref could easily have given a penalty there. Rash challenge by Broadfoot. wahoo 1-0 Beasley
  20. I'd like to know the number of sectarian related arrests in Scottish Football over the last few years. A handful no doubt?? Very unusual given the attention given to the issue by the media..... clearly the police aren't doing their jobs. Time Rangers questioned the role the police are playing in stamping it out given that Rangers themselves have made great strides over the last few years.
  21. So Rangers are in the dock again over the sectarian chanting. I look forward to the day Rangers can get a good result and i can enjoy reading the papers without the club getting slated for the antics of some mindless fans. So what exactly do the police do at the footy matches? Which i believe receive payments from the SPL clubs?? So they search folk before going into grounds if they think they might have booze on them, chuck them out if they are too drunk, ban the occasional flag and look around as if they are working. But given what the papers are reporting they are NOT DOING THEIR JOBS!!!! If fans are singing sectarian songs then they are breaking the law and the police should do something about it! OK if its a lot of fans they can't eject every single one but you have to start by picking out a few surely. For me they just seem to ignore it since they want an easy life? It might create tensions in the stands but why should Rangers pay the police anything if they are not going to uphold the law? The SPL are going to report Rangers.... so i think Rangers should consider reporting the police for not doing what every police officer has been trained to do!! Their training involves arresting people in crowded areas but they sit back and do nothing. For all the sectarian chanting yesterday, i assume there was NOT ONE ARREST FOR SECTARIAN BEHAVIOUR??? There are aspects of my job that i dislike but if i want to keep my job etc then i have to deal with it. I'd love to avoid doing the things i dislike which the police officers seem to do. For me it seems like they go along to footy grounds and just stand in big groups doing nothing. Just catching up with all their mates. Its about time they earned their wages. If they don't like the tensions it might create in the stands then they could always quit their jobs??
  22. Hopefully Rangers will come out and say the same thing. They've been asked not to say much by the police but surely it would be ok to say that Rangers are not the subject of the investigation.... assuming that is the case???
  23. Great player, good captain. Looking forward to reading his autobiography on his time at Rangers when he hangs up his boots (hopefully not for a long while yet though!!). Knocked back an extra £20k at Newcastle to come back to Rangers.
  24. McCoist had informal talks with his agent a while ago. A deal of £10k a week plus £5k per game played was mentioned but Rangers haven't been back in touch. His agent wasn't too impressed with the offer given what Fowler has done in the game and the fact players like Scott Brown are earning so much more. Source ? A relative of mine!!.... who is friends with his agent. His agent is from glasgow, George Scott.
