Actually liked how he answered them and his explanation of how his game has changed as he’s got older.
Definitely, Defoe is a class act but its just lazy from the guys there...

The questions that some of these people ask....jesus suffering!
3-4 questions about him being old, his age, advancing years...
Boring as fuck!

Never mind half back...half wit is appropriate for you...would probably be for the best if your carer limited the time you spent on here now...

Even if he only said the word "now" for the entire 90 mins he'd still be better to listen to than Tom Miller.
This!
I know its harsh and Tom is liked by many, does loads for charity etc and I wouldnt want him to lose his job, but I think he is a terrible commentator.
Knows a stat and that but his voice is like a shrill/screech at times...

Not sure how many will be there, but we have 4ST's that have bought tickets but cant make it today and we couldnt give them away to friends and family!

I think there comes a point where people need to play football every week.
Learning from other pro's and watching them do stuff in training is all very well and good, but he needs to be making decisions for himself in match situations.
Like the red card he got in the cup a season or two ago, hes never going to be able to "learn from that in training" or deal with a striker who is fighting like fuck to get a goal in against him.
A loan to another premiership team or championship team in England, maybe the time away from home would help him like it did with Docherty, and then see how he does.
There are 100s of examples of players going on loan before coming back to cement a place in the team, maybe not Rangers specific examples, but I think thats more to do with the clubs we send them to!

Shame there isnt a stat for "number of times shat it in 90mins"
Theres no doubt he is a talented player but he hasnt shown that he has the fight for it yet!

I think Ryan Jack will be crucial next season and I dont see his position within the squad changing, Gerrard has said time and again that he knows he can trust Jack!
Traditionally the deeper CM in a midfield 3 is the more defensive one, but in the last month or two of the season Davis played that role and was almost like a deep lying play maker with his passing and I think that Jack will do that next season.
Jack/Davis
Kamara Aribo
Thats what I would go with!

Genuinely dont think Ojo, Aribo and Kent will be enough. Think we've taken a naive confidence from our end of season form, and the 'quality' Gerrard has spoke about seems dependent on the Morelos sale.
Again another post full of conjecture portrayed as fact...
Aribo will be a higher end salary for us, he will be one of the "quality signings" but to give a comparison to last season, we had to get players in early in order to compete with the early rounds of the Europa League. Guys like McGregor, Arfield, Goldson and Katic were all done by this time last season, but there isnt a need to do that this time.
We have a squad that should be able to negotiate the earlier round, probably most of the rounds, but we still have 2 and half months of transfer window left and some of the transfer kitty might depends on if we qualify or not.
Any player sales will add to that but we need to chill out and give the club time to deal with this, as with Kent and Liverpool, some clubs arent even back in yet and are still on holiday!

Yes, he's not as intelligent a player as a Defoe or as Arfield who both offer more to the team the team is more fluid without him and can break down teams better.
I dont quite see what is bizarre about it we went on one of our best runs and looked more of a team when he never featured we won six games on the spin something we have never done for years and scored 14 goals.
You said hes not bright enough to play in another system...
To which I asked how you came to that conclusion...not whose more intelligent, or who is better in what system, or are we better with or without him in the team...
If you had said that then I could perhaps have agreed and it wouldnt have been bizzare but to say hes not bright enough to play in another system is just simply unfounded and daft!

Strikers Morelos isnt bright enough to play another system and defoe will need a break.
This has got to be one of the most bizzare posts I've seen on here...
He isnt bright enough to play in a different formation or style of play???
How on earth have you came to that conclusion...

I've obviously worded it poorly. I meant 3 from the first 4 and then Kent and Arfield more advanced in the positions just off the striker.
I get it now 😄

Left back(priority), centre back and striker
3 from Kamara, Jack, Davis and Aribo, Arfield, Kent is maybe good enough but if someone becomes available to play in one of those positions that would get 15+ goals I'd like us to go for them but only if it was someone who would make a real difference
I dont understand the 3 from those players part...
Arfield and Kent wont/shouldnt be competing for the same positions as the other 4 you have listed...

I don’t understand the hate that Wes gets, he’s a very good GK!
McGregor is better but if he had the defense in front of him that Wes had the past few seasons, he would have conceded loads as well.
He’s already shown that he can step in if needed, celtic last season, and perform. I wouldn’t want to have someone like Firth or McCrorie in that position.
Won’t be on a huge salary either and with McGregor only being here for what, 1-2-3 years max, I would keep Wes as back up/competition!

I think we’ll be going...
Morelos
Kent Arfield
Aribo Kamara
Davis
Barasic Katic Goldson Tav
McGregor
With Ojo in for Kent if he doesn’t sign.
Strong(ish) bench and squad options too
Fod, Flanagan, Halliday, McCrorie, Jack, Jones, Ojo, Murphy, Stewart, Defoe
Feel we’re well short of CB and CF options, and we really still need a top quality no. 10.
I agree with most of that but weve signed too many out and out wide players for me to think that we will be so narrow.
As you said, Ojo in for Kent but we have Jones, Stewart, Hastie, Candeais, Muprhy who all play in those wide areas and Kent could be added to that as well.
Will be interesting to see who plays where.

Reading this thread you would think that half of you had never watched us in the last 2-3 months of the season!!
Arfield is not and has never been played as a winger, the manager confirmed this...
The guy who made our midfield tick in those last few weeks was Davis...as the deep lying defensive midfielder...

Scary thing is players at 5m in this period of time can still besub standard players when it comes to scottish football. We dont have the same backup plan as rich clubs when it comes to poor decisions on signings that have been priced according to England rates.
I agree with you to an extent, but last season we were limited to spending £1-2m on players, like most of our signings last season, and having £5m to spend on a player would surely make a better quality of player available to us?

We’re fucked IMO.
They’ve a massive rebuilding job over at Torbett towers, but if we lose those 3 then we’re losing our 3 best and are back to being bang average albeit with some money to spend (which we haven’t done wisely in recent years).
Imperative that we hold onto at least 2 of the 3 if we want 55.
I dont think we can view Kent as "losing him" he was never ours and it will be a massive bonus to get him back but we need to be looking at other players to fill that position...Jordan Jones and Jamie Murphy are two that can do it but even as a big Murphy fan, we have no idea how he will be after such a long lay off or if JJ can cut it.
I would be "happy" to sell Morelos if we got a bid of £15m+, in the past 2 seasons we have spent approx £10m on players and I would expect that level of investment again, regardless of player sales, but to have £10m plus what we make on Morelos would give us a massive pot to invest in 3-4-5 players of real quality!
To be able to go out and buy 4 players at £5m each is something that we havent been able to do for a number of years!
I wouldnt sell Tav unless the bid coming in was £10m+ as he is crucial to the way we play.

I never knew James Tavernier had a younger brother called Marcus. He represents England at U21 level. I think he’s a left sided full-back. Hopefully he can go on to be a success like our captain.
He plays as an attacking midfielder, normally on the left hand side, but he is being linked with Man Utd and Watford for crazy money!
Looks a real prospect!

Not sure whether this warrants a new topic and unsure where I should actually post this to ask the question but here goes
Are we genuinely paying defoe over 65k per week?
Edit admin feel free to delete or merge it with the appropriate thread
Im pretty sure you are the same bunnet that started the thread about Lee Wallace calling him a rat and to get out the club...
Definitely missing something upstairs...

I reckon we would struggle to get 10m in reality, some of the 20m value being bandied about on here is just fantasy Island. Gerrard himself stated that the only real bid we have had is 3m, so can see Ferguson's point.
Is that you Mr Bain???

I read that more as in we don't need a replacement as we've already got people that can play there...
