  1. Walter said he was quite happy with the squad but might be looking to bring in 1 or 2 more. Here's my theory, he waits to make sure we beat Zeta on Tuesday night, we do, then we sign Naisy on Wednesday for the asking price so that he can be registered for the CL 3rd round, which closes the same day. Sorted!
  2. I don't think he will. We will be looking to control the game, keep possession, and hit them on the break. Maybe one up front to start with - McGregor Broadfoot, Cuellar, Weir, Papac Novo, Hemdani, Ferguson, Thomson, McCulloch Boyd (If fit, or JCD) Think we'll score, could finish 1-1.
  3. Thats the problem though Thermo in this instance...it would appear the singing we are being reported for is nothing to do with the Sash itself...its supporters singing "FTP" at the end of the Sash and another song containing "Fenian Bastards" within it. It has been clear for some time that these add ons and songs would not go unpunished - therefore there can be no excuses regarding the need for a definitive list on this occasion. You really have to ask yourself what makes a so called Rangers supporter engage in conduct which they know full well will have ramifications and consequences for our club. Are they bigger & better than the rest of us ? Do they think they are above the law ? Someone else in this thread mentioned the selfish nature of such conduct. Absolutely spot on. They wish to engage in conduct motivated by their own prejudices and hatred - irrespective of the consequences for both our club and their fellow supporters. I wonder if they will so smug when our transfer kitty is further limited as a result of paying fines for their unacceptable behaviour or even worse...we have to look on as the tims celebrate another league triumph as a result of points we have had docked. Quite simply it appears to me they think that expressing themselves in whatever way they wish to.... is more important to them than Rangers being successful. There can be no excuses on this one. Weed them out and banish them. I totally agree D'A. There can be no excuses, these blind morons are not bigger than the rest of us, and must be weeded out if they can't show the due respect to our great club. There should be no question of RFC running the risk of warnings, fines, points deduction or banishment - we need to banish the fools.
  4. Cuellar for half the price they paid for Brown! Well done Walter, Carlos is a star and great value for money.
  5. Hmm, interesting points. There is more the Rangers support can do - those (minority) who still sing the songs, and add ons, can stop! Those who ignore the warnings and continue to do it should be identified and banned from our games - now that might be difficult but we need to support the club in its efforts to do this. Don't ignore the professional whiners, but don't give them an excuse to whine - and certainly challenge them when false accusations are made against our club and fans. We must also challenge those who seek to distort the wider truths that such behaviour, sectarianism is a social issue and not solely a blight on RFC. As for dismissing the penalties that are likely to be applied, it seems naive to suggest that there is only a slight risk of a points deduction - in my view a points deduction is inevitable if we accept that the blind morons will continue regardless. We are really facing certain punishment if we cannot control fans behaviour, the only doubt will be the size of the points deduction, or the scale of the sanctions if that does not then stop the nonsense - eg. ban from Europe (its happened before), ban from domestic competitions, closure of stand/ground - take your pick. Now is the time for all Rangers fans, including the morons, to ask themselves, is this the purpose? Is this the effect they wish to achieve? And its no good saying... "Its no fair, what aboot them, they're worse than us"... That won't matter a jot when we are found guilty. And remember, once guilty we will have that unenviable record, a great stain on our proud history, as a sectarian football club, or at least a football club who's supporters are proved to be sectarian bigots - let's cut it out, or cut them out before it gets that far. I too want to go to Ibrox and elsewhere, to enjoy our football. We are the people who can stop this rot!!!
  6. I wouldn't believe the date in the Daily Record until I checked the calendar! :angry2:
  7. Not ahead of Burke? You're having a laugh mate. Whittaker will play RM which allows McCulloch to go back to the left... (And he's cover for Hutton too). Great deal imho. Thomson + Whittaker for less than Scott Brown.
  8. Last night was a wee touch of reality especially after the joy of Saturday's friendly victory over Chelsea. We have found it before, there are no easy games in Europe, we have been up against the so called minnows in the past and struggled or lost (remember Shaktar Donesk?) Yes, some of the reaction was OTT, and there is high expectation but we can't take any team for granted. We did win the game, fortunate or otherwise - we have been unlucky to lose before, so we'll take it. Also, it was a typical away performance from Zeta, pack the defence and hit on the break - Big Jock knew it was difficult to play against 11 dustbins - he said it many times! We won the game and they need to come out in the 2nd leg, that opens things up for us, we've done it before and we can do it again. WATP
  9. The article I read in the Beeb yesterday had plenty fo praise for efforts already undertaken. THis sounds like fans on the lookout for something to moan about Aye, leave the paranoia in the East End ...
  10. Classic. LMAO Is that banner for real? Classic!!! Just in case the great unwashed missed the meaning - Immoral (adj) 1. violating principles of right and wrong 2. not adhering to ethical or moral principles: "base and unpatriotic motives" 3. morally unprincipled: "immoral behaviour" 4. characterized by wickedness or immorality: "led a very bad life" 5. marked by immorality: deviating from what is considered right or proper or good. Tics all the boxes, mate. ... and when I think of it the whole lot of them are Immoral.....
  11. Ha Ha, free the fish ......
  12. Gotta say I welcome this, its another positive step for the club and good to see it involves the fans. Building on the Pride over prejudice campaign and the self-policing initiative we can really show those (including UEFA) who are (too) quick to blame us for some of the wider social ills, and that we are serious about positively promoting the club, its fans and its place in the football and the wider community. I also like the idea of the Stands being identified separately, I'm in the Govan Rear and we're better than all the rest ........
  13. Quiet!! you might wake the donkey up. Ermm, its a fish, not a donkey ..........
  14. Superb, Minstral. Thanks for the link :yaha:
  15. Ha, ha - good to know we've got the United Nations on our side when we have our next tussle with UEFA - c'mon big Moonie
  16. From the world of rugby there's John Beattie and Gary Parker - bluenoses (header)
  17. Striking, or attempting to strike an opponent is violent conduct - it is a red card offence. The ref didn't see it, from my view in the Govan Rear, I saw it and the 4th official had a long word with the linesman right after it. It will be interesting to see if it features in any of the official reports, including the referee supervisor's. We all know that the 'beaks' have used video evidence before, let's see if they do so again.
  18. Totally agree, the motives behind BJK are simply to wind them up. We are better than that, we are bigger than that - it is a distasteful football chant and it is demeaning to Rangers Football Club and its supporters, at least those with some integrity.
  19. Alright then. So when do we start our next moral crusade, and on what topic? Lets see - anyone know any chants about the Nazi deathcamps, the genocide in Sudan, Cambodia, the former Yugoslavia, or how about the slave trade from West Africa to the new Americas? Get real, there is no place for this sort of chanting at Ibrox, or any other football ground. We were, rightly, disgusted by the behaviour of some Celtic fans towards Claudio Reyna following 9/11 and we roundly condemn Aberdeen fans and their chants about the Ibrox disaster. While we might look for differences here, and claim the moral high ground that we are on the side of the victims, in my view those who sing the BJK bring another unwanted focus on Rangers Football Club and only serve to delude themselves - the only reason for singing it is to GIRUY to the Celtic fans. If you don't agree then tell me what you have done about highlighting the subject outside of the game, what actions have you taken to lobby the authorities to act, what material or other support have you offered/provided to the victims, what have you done to help prevent such reprehensible behaviour happening in the future? In my view the Celtic fans were silent because we were playing their team off the park - and they didn't like it one little bit.
  20. Spot on Frankie and it would be nice to see some objectivity in the reporting - but I have been waiting for that for a long time, and it still seems far off. As for Spiers - new job, same old rubbush - he has been getting away with it on other papers so why not The Tims! [Aplogies for the spelling mistake] Your observations on Lennon's behaviour are accurate although I have to say that he was less animated than previously, certainly off form, looked a bit weary (they all did) and had some sense (sic) not to join in with Boruc at the end. The big Pole Dancer was an ass, though he never fails to disappoint at Ibrox, he has a way of making a clown of himself, maybe its his way to take attention away from his performance in goal. Anyway, I won't be buying the papers, dropping circulation will force editors/owners to question what they are getting from their journos.
  21. It depends which part of the East End yer talking about m8. Brigton or the Zoo?
  22. Aye, Boyd top scorer again, and what about the top scoring midfielder and free kick specialist? I'm talking Charlie here not the over-hyped Japanese tourist, travelling to Spain or England via the east end of Glasgow.
