It's interesting when you think about it this way - Falkirk who are relegation fodder this season again have actually taken points from our rivals in 2nd place. St. Johnstone have come up into the SPL and made a good account of themselves this season & other small clubs like St. Mirren show that they can compete both in the league & in the cups. When you look at the current top 6 in the 1st division, they're not a bad bunch of clubs; Dundee, who have a decent wee stadium in Dens Park and record higher home crowd attendances than several of the clubs currently in the SPL. Ross County, Inverness CT, who had a decent enough run in the SPL and were often no push-over for established SPL teams. Partick Thistle, QoS & Dunfermline. There's no real reason why at least the best 4 of those teams couldn't compete in our league. Ok, so none of them are likely to be in with a shout of taking the SPL title, but none of the more established non OF SPL sides have really looked likely to do that for quite a long time. It would certainly make things far more interesting relegation & promotion wise if there were 3 going down & 3 coming up each season in a bigger league format.
