  1. I cheated by googling but it's David Graham. He currently plays for Sheffield FC. Not United or Wednesday as many would assume. Made his debut against Shelbourne for Rangers.
  2. No mate, just some friends from up in Aberdeen.
  3. We need to decide if we are going to sit deep and compact and try and hit them on the counter or if we are going to try play higher up the pitch and press. If we sit deep (which suits our slow centre backs) then we need pace on the wings and upfront to allow us to counter. Therefore, Garner shouldn't start and we need to play McKay and Dodoo on the wings from the start. If we play higher up the pitch (I'd prefer it) then we need midfield energy which means no Halliday and perhaps starting with Holt, Hyndman and Windass. Foderingham would also have to play on the edge of his box to sweep up balls in behind our defence which is the real danger of playing a high line with the speed mismatch between the two teams. I think we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. As much as we need to bring in better talented footballers, we should also be looking to sign better athletes to help us compete as Aberdeen and Celtic are both bigger, faster and stronger than us currently.
  4. Didn't know that. That's really useful. Thanks. Didn't get as far as booking flights and hotel luckily or I'd be even more out of pocket.
  5. My friends and I have all had to pull out due to work commitments. 3 (possibly 4 but I think one set has been claimed) sets of tickets available if anyone knows of anyone looking. All 3 days. Last minute loyal.
  6. That's class. Thanks for the response guys. I'll be there from 4-12 April, staying in Areca lodge which is just across the road from LK Metro so no excuses for missing it. Thanks!
  7. Bit of a long shot here but does anyone know of a bar that I might be able to watch a Gers game in in Pattaya, Thailand. Not going until April but the Challenge Cup Final will be on whilst I'm over there and want to know if I can catch it. Looking online there appear to be a few British themed pubs but none that I know will show the football. Cheers.
  8. I'm in. Atletico Pathetico. De-Gea Coloccini-Kompany-Cahil Hazard-Eriksen-Johnson-Barkley Aguero-Sturridge-Bojan Gilks-Bruce-Upson-Albrighton
  9. I noticed this too. We are the only team not in the list i think. Strange but fuck them. I just did mine as an Elgin City fan but used the prices I pay for watching Rangers. At the very least it'll mess up their stats.
  10. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/aug/21/football-manager-craze-lionel-messi?CMP=twt_gu Hope this isn't old news as I just found it today and thought it was pretty funny. This is an article from The Guardian about Football Manager and the main man from the game is talking about all the funny football manager stories he has heard of in his time. He tells a pretty interesting thing about Eck McLeish's son telling him to buy Lionel Messi. "SI's biggest claim to fame is that it was us who first found out about Lionel Messi," Jacobson says. "He was playing for Barcelona B at the time and Alex McLeish tells a story of when, during his time as Rangers manager, his son came up to him and said he should sign this amazing young forward called Messi who he'd come across on Football Manager. McLeish said he'd never heard of him and forgot about the whole thing. The rest is history." Guess it turned out better for us in the end though, we got Ostenstad.
  11. It's quite convenient that he has chosen to have a pop at us AFTER our second and last away game at Peterhead this season and does not fear taking a financial hit by angering our fans with a game to go. However, due to this reconstruction we may well be playing them again next season so he might have put his chairman in a hole. I also wouldn't be surprised for a few more teams to get mouthy once we have played our last game at their stadium.
  12. Kris Boyd was one of my favourite Rangers players of recent times. He gets a tough time on here but I think he was right to move on and try his hand elsewhere. He had won 2 leagues and numerous cups with us but everytime a big game came along he was on the bench as he had been giving this label of not being able to score in big games. He had achieved all he could and moved on to a Middlesbrough team who looked like they were going to push for promotion to Premiership at the time. It didn't work out but he tried. We were also in very public finanical difficulty at the time and the club were accepting offers for him. I don't blame him for anything he did and he will always be remembered by me as a superb striker who did what he was paid to do. Score.
  13. For everyone going to the game on Sunday...behave yourself. You can consider yourself lucky to be in 8th wonder of the world..Elgin, so no pissing in the streets and other all round antics. You have been warned! ... ....Enjoy yourself!
  14. Can you remember when we signed Alexander? Roy Carrol was our back up goalkeeper and never got a single game for us so he left in January. Alexander was brought in, McGregor got injured and Alexander played in a Uefa Cup Final and was a penalty shoot out hero for us in the SF and in the Cups against DU and St Johnstone. Meanwhile, Carrol played for a god awful Derby team that got relegated after getting pumped almost every game.
  15. That's a bit of a joke. Also annoying for the Elgin fans who have to travel as well as the many Bears from up north. I'm from Elgin and travelling on a supporters bus to Ibrox and back takes a while. Moving the KO to 12 on a Sunday means an earlier start for the fans plus it means the worry of work the next day and not being able to get boozy!
  16. Yeah, the Burghead Loyal picks up in Elgin and then goes to Forres before heading to Glasgow. With a stop in Dunkeld to pick up the famous Santa (Davy)
  17. Fantastic post. I suppose the model football club is one where an owner does not have to put a penny into it as it is living off it's own income as you said. Obviously money will need to be spent at the start but once we get over this tricky period, we will hopefully be living within our means and making a nice profit on top.
  18. Agreed. Distastful. Some cracking pictures in this thread though. Be plenty more pictures to come down the years too, of that i have no worries.
  19. I was just thinking the same! What a bitter bunch of c*nts. If ever there was a season Celtic have been rank rotten and fairly pumped by most teams in the SPL it was under Mowbray. When do Celtic ever take a refereeing decision 'on the chin'.
  20. I would happily drop down to division three if we were to liquidate. Will give us time to get back on our feet as we canter through the leagues whilst stil doing well in the cups. It would also be a massive "F**K YOU" to the other 10 teams in the SPL who could not afford the tv to disappear and for us to not fill out their stadiums twice a season. I would like someone from Rangers to offer an ultimatum to the other clubs and say something along the lines of "If you vote for these rule changes then we will drop to division 3, we will take the tv money with us and when we do get back up we will boycott your stadiums for X amout of years".
  21. Nice to hear that he likes it here but if we had to let players go I wouldn't have been too disappointed if one of them was him. He doesn't seem to care when he is on a yellow card and still commits silly fouls that could easily see him sent off. Would rather play Boca and Perry in defence than him at the moment.
  22. Anyone else had a call from Rangers yet saying that Sunday nights event is postponed until sometime later in the season? What a downer, was really looking forward to it and had hotels booked etc.
  23. I don't think anyone can blame Dundee United for what they are doing. If we bid the proper amount in the first place it probably wouldn't have come this far and even if we are matching the Blackburn bid now it is probably being rejected by Dundee United for the lack of respect we have shown them in the first place. DU aren't rivals to us but we could be considered rivals to them as is the way Scottish football works and they probably don't like us much due to the contempt our success brings so they can't be blamed for accepting a bid from a team in a different league that they don't have a rivalry with so that they avoid that player scoring versus them in the future. Imagine if Celtic bid 5 million for Jelavic and Man Utd bid 4.5 million. I vet i know which bid our fans would rather accept if we had to accept one. Even then it's not as if we are bidding more than Blackburn we are still under/paying in installments. We are the root cause of this situation by the sounds of things. Only ourselves to blame.
  24. I know people will read this thread title and dismiss it immediately but Gordon Strachan started with a 5-0 defeat in a Champions League qualifier and then drew the first game of the league season 4-4 at Motherwell. Celtic then went on to win the league three times in a row and i think they qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League twice in that spell. My point is that a bad start is exactly that, a start. Plenty time for things to work out well and for us to do the business. I think poor pre-season preperation has cost us this slow start but things will pick up real soon.
  25. He looks like Herb from Two and a Half Men.
