  1. Its funny you mention that, Rodgers has referred to himself numerous times as being a British manager, he'll have to play to the crowd now and call himself Irish
  2. He is a strange manager to say the least, he had Swansea playing lovely football and when he came to Liverpool he had Liverpool doing the same for his first two seasons, after that the football went to shit, he got rid of Carroll because he didn't want a target man type striker only two years later to beg the board to give him £32.5 million for Benteke, his transfer dealings at Liverpool were a shambles, don't let anyone tell you that the players were all bought for him by the committee they weren't, the split was probably around 50/50 the biggest transfer blunders were made by him he signed Borini, Allen, Mignolet, Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Milner, Clyne, Bogdan & Benteke for around £125 million, probably only two of those players could be considered a success, his record in Europe was very poor aswell. It will be interesting to see if he has changed his ways after his break from football, he seemed to get caught up in the status of being the Liverpool manager, he came back for pre-season after his first season at the club with new teeth, a fake tan and a few stone lighter, he then started dating the Liverpool transport co-ordinator and then broke up with his wife, how much of a role all of this played in his demise at Liverpool remains to be seen.
  3. As a Liverpool fan i can tell you that is not true, he was sacked because he and Rodolfo Borrell were talking to Man City behind Liverpool's back, once the club found out both of them were sacked Rodolfo went to City and Frankie McP didn't.
  4. If anyone is bored enough, this is a decent article on the state of their finances, it doesn't paint a very good picture of the Thompsons and these soft loans, bank loans at an interest rate of 3% exchanged for fan loans at an interest rate of 6%. http://miltonsfootballfinance.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/dundee-united-financials.html
  5. Hivs.net blocking all guests now .....their taking this bad
  6. I think there has to be a wee bit of realism from some, we have a team consisting of a couple of loan players, a few free transfers and the rest costing a few hundred thousand each, we are playing in the Championship and are coming up against defensive walls every week with teams not interesting in attacking, you are not going to break that down every week there will be the odd time that you drop points, when you come up against these type of teams you need to move the ball side to side looking for good movement and openings and move it with pace and accuracy with the standard of player we currently have that is not always the easiest thing to do, misplaced passes, pieces of poor control and the potential goalscoring opportunities are gone, improve the level of player we have and more chances will be created as the bad touches etc wont happen as often, you would also hope that next season in the PL more teams will actually try to play football against us and this will help aswell. Like someone else above posted i also felt that we were a wee bit light in the goalscoring department at the start of the season, i'm not so sure whether its in numbers of the fact that Nicky Clark isn't good enough as the 2nd/3rd striker, if we started next season with Waghorn another player similar to Waghorn in quality and Kenny Miller would that be enough, i'm still undecided. If you look beyond the on pitch stuff, Warburton has done some great work in setting the club up again as a proper football club, the scouting system, youth setup, match analysts, player nutritionists, fitness trainers etc etc
  7. Are these "journos" trying to piss Warburton off so much he quits, same shit every week, ask the same question six different ways and don't listen nor understand his answer
  8. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest, it will be Spurs who decide his next move, i don't think he is anywhere near first team material for Spurs at the moment and they may feel the same, come the end of the summer window he could be loaned back to us for another season.
  9. Its wonderful to see the club finally making these sort of signings, as Warburton keeps saying he wants to add players "who add value on and off the pitch", both these young lads are highly rated and hopefully show their potential, if they do we will get that value on the pitch from them and then the value off it with large potential transfer fees down the line. Thank goodness we have no more of these hasbeens looking final paydays being signed anymore.
  10. I think there is a bit of confusion regarding Frank, he was Liverpools joint chief scout only between 2003 & 2007, he then came back to the club in 2009 as head of the academy before being sacked in 2013, scouting was not part of his remit in that period at the club. The only reason he was sacked was because the club had heard he and Rodolfo Burrell had been speaking to Man City behind the clubs back about moving there. He did a great job at Melwood with the younger players and was very highly thought off, he has got very good contacts in the game.
  11. Shit stirring by the Scottish media, he was never a candidate, Liverpool only interested in Klopp with Ancelotti as second choice. What was encouraging was his comment that he seems Rangers as a long term project for him.
  12. Delighted he's gone, a bullshitter if ever there was one. I'm surprised that the sports journos didn't know he was getting sacked it was common knowledge on Thursday night in Liverpool, no matter what the result was today he was getting sacked. Hopefully Klopp will be announced soon. Klopp will be a massive upgrade on Rodgers but he won't fix the underlying problems at the club like the transfer committee, lack of football knowledge amongst the ownership/board etc.
  13. RANGERS: Robby McCrorie, Aird, Halkett, Ross McCrorie, White, Murdoch, Thompson, Dykes, Jeffries, Crawford, Roberts. SUBS: Muir (GK), Lang, Lyon, Ashmore, Mills, Trialist, Brownlie.
  14. Your correct with your first point, but incorrect about the Anfield revamp, there will be 4,500 new corporate seats in the new main stand and that is the only reason why its being built, the corporate money will pay the bulk of the cost without that the expansion wasn't cost effective and thats even with 35,000 on the season ticket waiting list which has been closed to new applications for 10 years. The corporate money is what its all about these days, the Anfield Road end has also got planning permission to be expanded but the club are now undecided about going ahead as it will only be 5000 general admission seats being added in there and even though they will be sold out every week it is not seen as a great investment. Going back to Ibrox, the ground would need to be filled every week for expansion to be on the agenda i would guess, the corners would be the first place to look at, i remember many years there being some drawings in the Rangers News of Ibrox with the corners filled in and it said that it would bring the capacity up to something like 58k, that would be a great starting point if the cost wasn't prohibitive
  15. Domestic league success has absolutely no bearing on co-efficient points, co-efficient points are earned by your clubs own results and that of all the other teams from your league who play in Europe.
  16. You think its young now, wait till next season and the likes of Miller and co are gone, it will be down closer to 22-23
  17. Benteke makes no sense whatsoever, but then thats typical Liverpool, sell a player get good money and have no clue how to spend it. So many more suitable options out there and cheaper too. Utterly depressing.
  18. If he was interested in developing as a player he would have, another season or two at Anfield develop into a world class player and then he could have went to a big club like Barca or Madrid rather City, there is a good chance he will spend a fair amount of time on the bench at City that won't help him develop his game, there is a long list of potential top class English players who have went to City and wasted their careers.
  19. Very good deal for Liverpool, sadly it will be followed by the club wasting £30 million of it on Christian Benteke.
  20. No transfer fee, he won't be on a massive salary and a one year contract, yeah its a massive gamble indeed!! The signings that have been made over the last 3 years have been massive gambles, big salaries and long term contracts this is not.
  21. He was staying in the Premier Inn in Milngavie last week.
