  1. Why not to as they do here and in the States. Just sell the name of the stadium to a Big Corporate name (like FedEx or RBS etc,,,,). It would still always be Ibrox, but we'd make quite a chunk of cash there! Would that be an idea worth talking about =================================================================== I would never want to move from Ibrox and this idea appeals to me more than a move away. Not only do we have a 5 star stadium and address to offer, but imagine the kudo,s a LISTED building could gain in rent/sponsorship.
  2. I agree. I want to win everything as well. My suggestion is not because we might bottle it. My suggestion is trying to be practical. We have a small squad. One or two injuries will hit us hard at the time when we can least risk it. We MUST win the league this year. No iffs, no buts. We must. I only made the suggestion to give the players a break (however small) Why risk the three points with a little bit of tiredness or lapse in concentration at a critical time? Every Bas***d will be out to beat us. My suggestion gives us an edge when we might need it. Thats not bottling it. Thats sensible.
  3. Watching yesterdays game I was struck by the thought that a lot of the players looked knackered. Even Davis and Lee were sluggish at times. With our small squad we cant afford any more injuries. Make no mistake, there will be more injuries. My thought is to forget the SC and keep our energy for the league challenge. A treble is nice but the league is critical. Let Septic play the extra games. Let them risk the injuries to key players. I feel we should nurse our small squad for the more important matter of the league. Anybody agree? We can use the cup (as long as it lasts) to give the kids a run out incase they are needed in an emergency. Just as Arsenal and SAF do. Then if the kids are needed in the league, at least they will have some SPL experience.
  4. Would make a good banner at the next OF game:- AT LEAST McGREGOR SHAGS WOMEN
  5. They must be in a panic now stuck with a shite manager, a shite team, sorry forgot they've got the one trick pony with no end result. They've nowhere to go, this could be OBE ! So how was the £8-10M player today against the mighty Falkirk?? ============================================================================ Was on KDS during the week and some clown reckons hes worth 15-25m in todays market.
  6. Rangers are top of the league. The next three teams below us are Celtic, Hibs and DundeeUtd. In the past month we have played all three of them and are still undefeated. During the same period, Celtic are also undefeated but they have played a few bottom clubs and failed to look convincing. Yesterday was hard going at times but it was easy to see Walters mind at work. For the past number of weeks, the pace of Beasley, Miller and Novo has been tearing teams apart. We were denied that weapon yesterday. I believe Walter was hoping that Novo,s pace would bother Celtic and Boyd could snatch something from it. Nacho,s injury spoiled that plan. When Walter put Edu on for Novo, I figured he was psychologically telling Celtic:- " Right, we don,t have the resources to attack, so you can have the ball. Show us what you,ve got! We all saw the result. In truth, Celtic don,t have a lot. 75/80% of the possession and McGregor only had one exceptional save in the whole match says it all really. Celtic, playing at home in a match they had to win against a seriously depleted Rangers team with a 17yr. old kid and a 39yr. old pensioner in defence couldn,t break them down. The only bad news for us is the rumour about Caldwell going to Boro. I hope not, we need him at Celtic. and to the poster who called them "the Matalan Catalan" f**king class mate.
  7. He swings his fist at Dods, and where there would have been impact, his left leg obscures his hand. Werther he hit him or not, most people will just say no chance because they have Blue tinted glasses on. If I saw a player take a swing at another player on the park with clear intent to hit him. I would expect him to get a red whether he hit him or not. It was a silly thing to do because there was nothing in it. It was just a silly tangle between them, and he lashed out. I just hope it doesn't lead to Walter played 4-5-1 and being cautious. Time will tell. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=++++++++++++++++++ I agree that it looks suspicious but a clear view of a punch is not there. Cast your mind back a few years to when Pearson/Hartson where caught on camera "singing" IRA songs. Because Pearsons voice could not be heard clearly and separately from the mob, then Celtic declared that the case against the players was "not proven". Double standards again?
  8. an appeal takes weeks, he should be able to play why did the sfa decide right away?, im not buying that something not right there liewell on the phone to them this morning demanding it be dealt with right away???????????? ======================================================================== I agree entirely. No one wants to become as bitter and twisted as Timothy, but there has been a bad smell coming out of SPL HQ for some time now. Something rotten in the state of Denmark methinks. Phil O,D. T Burns. "Integrity". Loovens . McDonald. all fall neatly into place at Timothys behest. Ya want paranoia, I,ll give ya paranoia. New Labour-- A Scottish labour creation. How many of the top leadership in New Labour are from Scotland? How many of them have connections with a Glasgow football club?Which Speaker was hounded out of Parliament for corruption and which Glasgow football team does he have connections with? Which British political party was described by the CofE Archbishops as "Morally Corrupt"? Which Glasgow football club has a Chairman who was one of the main architects of New Labour and who has the smell of sulphur about him? Which Glasgow football club is having millions spent on refurbishment and a new rail link which will be almost redundant after the Commonwealth games? (Paid for by the British taxpayer) Which Glasgow football clubs supporters and Officials cannot even respect the Rememberance silence for the sons and fathers of the same British taxpayers? The Commonwealth games have always been held in the Capital city of the host country. Scotlands capital has an internationally recognised 5star national stadium. (Murrayfield) Scotlands second and largest city has a 5star national stadium with existing rail, motorway links and a long history of hosting major events. If neither of these stadiums is acceptable then Glasgow has another 5star stadium well serviced by motorway, airports and ferry links. This stadium would only be third choice though. But the British taxpayer is going to spend squillions on a third rate, third world stadium in the most rundown derelict part of the city which has no rail, road or air links anywhere near it. Just getting through the city to get to Parkhead is a nightmare. But Parkhead has been chosen for the opening ceremoney at enormous cost. And Kenny Millers case is dealt with in 24hours. Surprise, surprise. Feck me, what reason do I have for paranoia?
  9. Ignoring a quality comparison between then and now, the other major difference is that then we had guys who played for the shirt. Shearer, Greig, Davis etc,. weren,t always world beaters but they ALWAYS gave 110%. The name Baxter on the team sheet and the other teams were beaten before they took the field. You could smell the fear from the tims in those days. Walter may be trying to play the same system today, but you can,t make a silk purse out of a sows ear The system may be there but the class isn,t.
  10. Just my over active imagination maybe, but reading between the lines of Walters statement, "I might be here for a few more years, or I might be away next year" (or words to that effect) I think there might be some preliminary moves behind the scenes Re:- a new owner. If things go well Walter might be away sooner. If not, he might be here for a few more years. But its my feeling that statement raises the possibility.
  11. All those posters feeling sick about wearing a scum top--- play with the heid, lads. Put the scum top on. Walk down the middle of Argyle St. with yer c**k hanging out, in front of the tv cameras. In front of the cameras, pick yer nose and wipe it on a pensioners coat. Get steaming and boak yer guts up on the War Memorial. Piss all over the bus queue. and make sure the camera gets a good view of the hoops. And if charity gains so much the better.
  12. SSN reports that SFA will approach Walter re:- the Scotland job. Who knows why but perhaps they have "heard something". Maybe we have a buyer and WS won,t be here next year.
  13. I'm sure if Aiden McGeady dropped his shorts and gave us the finger at the end of an Old Firm game, we'd all take it in such good grace ; ============================================================== Imagine the smile on Torbetts face if that was to happen.
  14. I knew we were beaten at the start of the 2nd. half. As soon as I saw us revert to the old square ball and backward pass across the back it was obvious no one had the confidence to try and go forward. That is one thing I have noticed in the CL this year--- the lack of confidence. No one will take a chance going forward and the best we can manage is a hump up the park. Failing that, the defenders start to play the ball back and forth berween themselves. As soon as the oposition see this and start putting pressue on, the passes become quicker, shorter and more panicky. Thats when the rot sets in. and the crowd doesn,t help. Sorry lads, but that is a large part of the lack of confidence at Ibrox. The players are panicky enough to start with and when the crowd starts to get on their back then confidence collapses.
  15. Not Rangers related but topical none the less--------- UEFA has released the following press release today---- In view of the wholly unfair outcome of last nights match, UEFA have decided to alter the constitution of the association. 1/ All future World Cups WC,s will be held in ROI. This will eliminate the need for ROI to qualify. They will automatically be entered as Hosts. 2/ Since the ROI will no longer have to play Qualifying games so denying them the income from games, UEFA will compensate them financially. This will be calculated using a unique Irish invention first used in the Irish province of East Glasgow, and called "the Sevull Calculator". This informs us that at least 15,000,000 Irish supporters would attend every home game. FAI will be compensated for this lose of income. 3/ Since ROI have no facillities to host the WC, UEFA will build 20 new stadiums for them in Ireland. All these stadiums will be constructed in Kafflick areas. No Proddies will be permitted to walk to, or attend any match, since the Irish find such people walking to be offensive. 4/ Fields of Athenrye will become the new WC anthem and all other national Anthems will be illegal since the Irish find them offensive. 5/ No country with the national colours of Red, White and Blue will be permitted to enter the WC since the Irish find these colours offensive. 6/ Since Holland play in Orange, the previous rule applies to them in spades. 7/ Since hand balls against the Irish will not be allowed, the Sharia law of cutting off the hands will be introduced for all Irelands opponents. With this new constitution, UEFA hope to eliminate years of discrimination against the Irish and to help them get over their paranoia and victimhood. The above rules will also apply for all Celtic FC games as well.
  16. The truth of the matter is---- Larson was a much better player than Boyd, he just wasn,t as good as Celtic always claim.
  17. Just to put this thing in perspective, how many times over the years on numerous news broadcasts, have we heard the announcer tell the viewers "the content of this film might offend some people". This happens on traffic accidents, murder victims, fires etc,. etc,. It is quite normal for the Broadcaster to edit out content which would be offensive. BUT, they must inform the viewers that they have done it and why. To edit the content of a tv film to cut out offensive material is o.k. To not report that they have done so is not removing the offensive content, it is manipulating the news to hide the true facts. Perhaps someone with a bit of experience in these matters can enlighting me--- Is news manipulation not a breach of their charter?
  18. I have just e-mailed my complaint and asked them whose decision it was to turn the mics off. I went on to say that I would appreciatte an answer to my query. Failing that an apology on SKY SPORTS news. Failure to answer would result in my cancelling my SKY subscription. On another subject, on BBC news last night, they showed the silence being observed at a number of games. In all cases, the silence was impecably observed (at English grounds) at Ibrox the crowd was shown applauding. I imagine this was done deliberately to give the impression that applause is normal in Scotland and preparing the ground cover for the Scum. Or am I too cynical?
  19. Just a horrible feeling in my guts. I remember a few years ago towards the end of Advocaats reign when van Bronkhorst always seemed to be injured. Every week it was stated he would be back for the next game. Then on the friday he was out again. Then out of the blue he was off to Arsenal. I have this horrible feeling that this is the case with Boughera. Rangers won,t play him in case he gets injured and fu**s up a transfer. Or he won,t play for the same reason. I,ve no proof, just a deep feeling that something is wrong. Does anybody else feel the samr way?
  20. Around this time, Cassius Clay had changed his name to Muhammed Ali and he used to taunt his opponents by whispering in their ears, "what my name boy" For a time I used to work with Geoff Strong (Liverpool and England) brother-in-law and he told me a story related to him by Strong. Apparently Baxter was going down the wing with the ball and he had Alan Ball inside him keeping pace. Ball was afraid to tackle Baxter who was extracting the urine by saying to Ball "whats my name boy, whats my name." I don,t know if I,ve told that story on here before though.
  21. On UTV 6 o,clock news they have just reported that Davis might be leaving for Birmingham. A few of 5m was quoted. I don,t want to lose the wee man but 5m will be hard to resist under current circumstances It was also reported about McGinn scoring for the cheapos and mentioning that he wasn,t on the team sheet. Its difficult to see how the SPL can ignore this one.
  22. I think the real reason for Reid/ Lawell/players etc, .making these sort of comments (and this is by no means the first time) is due to a deep rooted inferiority complex. They are Scotlands 2nd. club. Have always been Scotlands club. And they know it. Their constant bad-mouthing of Rangers is their attempt at dragging us down to their level. They are unable to climb out of the gutter so they try to drag us into it. When you are unable to obey even the basic professional courtesies then your lack of class and dignity is blindingly obvious. Given Reids reputation, any criticism from him is as good as a character reference.
  23. The Herald article says that Rangers would be come the first British club to be owned by the members. Wrong. Linfield are , and have always been, a "Private Members" club owned and run by a management team elected by the fans. There is at present a ballot before the fans to change Linfield into a limited company, but it is receiving some resistance from the fans who are insisting that the supporters interests are protected in any new model. Rangers could do worse that look at Linfield for advice on how to operate a "private members" club. Accepting that the finances and fan numbers are much greater at Rangers, the principle has operated for years at Linfield. They must be doing something right.
  24. I,m no expert on finance so what I say is just guesswork but, knowing SDM,s reputation for "creative accounting" frightens me. Its well known that he spread Rangers debt around the MIH group in the past. Since the group accounts have been delayed until spring, can he "rearrange" the MIH debt (or some of it) back onto Rangers books? Another poster said that Ibrox, Murray Park etc,. are owned by Rangers. IF we were to go into administration could, would, the bank sell off Ibrox for instance, to a third party? I imagine that would be unlikely in normal times but these are not normal times and the banks have shown that they are "morally bankrupt". For the banks to try and sell Ibrox separately would be a PR disaster for them but could they do it?
