  1. After todays shocking end to the game we're all feeling a bit aggrieved but lets try and think of next week and forget all the conspiracy and well blatant incompetance of some officials! So who would you like to see play vs Celtic next Sunday! JRodgA2k8's Team _________________McGregor___________________ Whittikar____Bougerra_______Weir_________Papac __________Davis_____Thomson____Mendes_______ Novo__________________________________Beasley _________________Velicka/Lafferty______________ Ok so I am thinking it will be a 4-5-1 from Smith next week but I dont think it could be negative this time. By having both Novo and Beasley available and on the wings we should see a lot of pace and a lot of attacking in the team. The three midfielders are certain to win the battle in the middle of the park with mendes and Davis essentially pulling the strings allowing Thomson to mop up loose balls and help the defence. Upfront either one of Velicka and Lafferty. Velicka is a man for the big games in the SPL as he has scored many vs THEM before and could be at it again. Though how about the target man in Lafferty next week? He can hold up the ball and allow the two wingers to run through and support, could be the way to go. So whats your thoughts? Whats your team for next week?
  2. He had a poor game at Falkirk, a poor game vs Hearts and a poor game today.....please take the blinkers off he's been awful since the SPL kick off this season!
  3. He's started the first 3 SPL games FFS how many more does he need?
  4. In a way i feel sorry for him, not exactly an oppurtunity to win over the fans is it?
  5. As much as everyoen hates him....Miller is a striker not a left winger.....sorry but bringing Miller into this debate today is irrelevant....he played poor OUT OF POSITION. Boyd has started the first 3 Weeks and played 90 in 2 of them and he is played IN POSITION, apart from someone winning a penalty for him in the hearts game he has done nothing. He should be dropped completely out of the squad like what has happened to Andrius Velicka today! He took the ball off mendes at one point today and "passed" it out for a throw in.....medes should have slapped him for that! The 40 yard "strike" was.....words cannot explain!
  6. Walter knew, we knew, they ignore......super! Anyways to sum up the game.....strikers completely ineffective! Good cross from Thommo for Weir to head the opener and then he decides to commit suicidle defending to gift the dons the equaliser. Poor 2nd half by both sides.... Moment of Class from Mendes to Beasley.....Volley into the back of the net.....fine goal.....offside?! Well I've certainly felt all emotions already this season...totally robbed was the last one!
  7. IV been getting slaughtered from pedelling the Boyd argument from the start of the season and now it looks like he is starting to prove me right! He was not entirely to blame today but his passes were completely terrible! Useless!
  8. Aberdeen 1-2 Rangers (same as i have in the BBC Predictor) Velicka, Miller
  9. Davis_________Mendes_______Thomson________Beasley (at the moment)
  10. if he's playing terribly come the next couple of games say after 6....(Suspect he wont start vs Aberdeen and Celtic) and we still have one goal from the Pen Spot what will people be saying? If Velicka was to have scored 4goals for instance to his one people will still back Boyd I'm sure though. I honestly think a Velicka+Miller/JCD/Lafferty could be the best partnership going, Velicka's extra bit of graft and workrate clinches his start for me but again its open to debate. If we are going to continue to play Boyd then I hope the midfield and his forward partner do a lot of work for him because it seems like it may be needed this season. I believe this is the least mobile he has looked since he's signed for us.
  11. Thats the problem with the argument papa, everyone thinks Boyd is the centre of the club and the point we should be building around. We have plenty of decent strikers at the club now and as I have been preaching since I joined here I would like to see a Velicka + One other partnership. The boy has a bit more to his game than Boyd does and he could probably turn provider for another striker. The ball he put through to Boyd @ Falkirk was fantastic it's jst a shame Boyd is too lazy to get there in time.....which happened again with the Mendes pass on Saturday. I just get the feeling if he has to chase a ball he aint interested! The sitters he misses is another point that I cant be bothered getting into but for all the chances he gets he does get some really easy ones. As You say Papa give someone else the chances and they'll do the same. Lets be honest though people love him people hate him. If we got £3million I would let him go but I cant see him making it in a better league at all.
  12. i think im something like joint 6th on rangers media after only one weekends predictions, im chuffed with that! how crap are the so called experts btw? like the sportsound team? lol
  13. So after the highs and lows of this week at Ibrox things may finally be starting to look up. We sold our prized defender to big bucks of the Premiership however we could do nothing, Agent and Player fabricated move, we were left in the dark. The big question however is where would the money go and would this impact the squad and in what way? Well I believe we are starting to find out that it may indeed be for the benefit of the team. Big signing of the week was certainly the capture of Mendes and also the loan signing of Aaron with both Steve Davis and Maurice Edu looking to be added to the squad early next week. So lets analyse the squad as is: Goalkeepers Alan McGregor has recoevered from his injury and despite some early blips in his season.....Free Kick vs FK Kaunus anyone.....he will no doubt regain his composure and become as crucial as he was up until injury stuck last season. His save against Falkirk in the first game from the Penalty Spot goes a long way to proving how pivitol he could be in this campaign and I beleive he will only improve. Neil Alexander is a superb deputy to have and he knows he is backup, he never let us down and will be there should we need him, this position is solid. What is required: None Defenders The only position we need to get sorted out. The signing of Bougherra clearly came at the right time as he just waltzed into the team fill the gap left by Carlos Cuellar. He certainly has a bit of class about him but he is still having to form a partnership, definately a permanent fixture in the team and will partner one other which at this point looks to be Weir. Weir however this bear is unconvinced, he does get turned very easily sometimes due to his lack of pace but is definately solid, if Smith as he says signs one more centre back I would like to see Weir not play the full season but be rotated, the lack of Europe will no doubt help him through the season. Papac has made the left back his own and the support are groing closer and closer to the big man, lets remember he is playing out of position but his transition has been excellent. He is now venturing further up the pitch and it is great to see his runs, Stevie Smith may come back but he wont get a sniff over the Papac. That leaves RB which is a position we seem to be weak in, despite his shortcomings Broadfoot deputised there and did so again against Hearts but he isn't good enough, I feel this season is make or break for Steven Whittikar and the £2million spent on the player will have to prove something that he is a Right Back and can make the position his own but I feel he needs a run. What is required: CB and a possible RB Midfielders We have strengthened, the loss of Barry has been a massive blow but we look as if we may cope now after the weekend and the incoming signings. Mendes himself adds that bit of class to the middle of the park and definately increased our possesion in the middle of the park and with some great passes and scope he will be key to our season. Thommo is a tough tackling midfielder and never afraid to get his hands dirty, he does this well. Big season for this guy but he will no doubt pass with flying colours, Mendes in a way could be good for him. Maurice Edu and Steven Davis will join the midfield ranks this weekend and the beginning of this week and both will be comfortable in the middle of the park. We all know what Davis gives us but I can see Smith employing him on the Right Flank where he played a good few games last season, this is a problem position for us but the signing also of the exciting spaniard Aaron gives us another option on this side. Little is known about the player in some quarters of Ibrox including myself but if he is anything like we are hearing he could be crucial. The left side seems to be occupied by Lafferty at the moment which is a shame as the big man is definately a striker, I'd love to see him upfront but for now he is finding his feet and playing well but with DaMarkus Beasley coming back to proper fitness, if he does stay fit we definately have a proper left winger who is not afraid to take players on, has pace and can supply a cross or pass. If he stays fit look for him to be a great player for us this year. What is required: Nothing, we are as strong as we are upfront now should Davis and Edu be confirmed Forwards Do I really have to say much here at all? We are covered with a sheer luxury of options at the moment but I think we can all see it being reduced through sales. Boyd and Velicka are essentially the same player with both being very much the predator, we know of Boyds scoring but his overall game lacks. Velicka seems to have a bit more to him and could supply as well as score potentially but we dont know as of yet how leathal he will be infront of goal, time will tell. JCD and Miller are again similar players both using their pace to exploit defenders but will never have great scoring records being honest. Miller proved his worth on the right wing yesterday making a fine run and winning a penalty to clinch the game, still some Boo's but I'm sure he'll win those fans over. JCD is solid but is injury prone, he may be indeed a great impact player this season and is another option which is always great to have. Novo again can come under a similar catergory to these two however he is a lot more clinical in front of goal, he scores some great strikes aka vs Celtic at CP and always gives his best for the club, in tough tuimes he's the player you want. Lafferty IS A STRIKER and his movement at times when chasing the ball down shows me he could be greta if the right partnership is formed. He provides for Heally in the NI team and could be a great foil to work with Boyd and Velicka his season. But 6 into 2 is always going to be difficult to get right. What is required: Nothing but only forming the correct partnership Overall the squad is starting to look a lot stronger than it has in recent years with a series of options all over the park. With the signing of a solid CB before the transfer window shuts I cant see any reason why we cannot finally claim back our title this season with the January window serving only the oppurtunity to further deplete the deadwood. We have the squad now lets take our title back.
  14. That goal wiped the smirk off Boruc's face thats for sure!
  15. I think he could be better than Boyd due to the fact he gets involved in play a lot more so a chance for him to form a partnership and provide as well as score.
  16. Well I loved the fact they took him off the pitch and gave him medical attention.....pricks!
  17. Hey guys I joined this weekend using my BBC username, JRodgA2k6! 1105. JRodgA2k6 9pts So in my first weekend I got 3 correct scores..... Rangers 2-0 Hearts St Mirren 0-0 Kilmarnock Dundee Utd 1-1 Celtic more happy I got the last one right to be fair So not bad for my first weekend on there
  18. Well if Boyd continues to play like that he will need Miller to win a lot of penalties for him!
  19. Well if Boyd continues to play like that he will need Miller to win a lot of penalties for him!
  20. She is ugly. She has a face like a melted welly! She was sitting a few rows behind us in the main stand today as were a lot of the players....she was wearing possibly the sluttiest outfit iv seen at a footy match.....should have taken a pic, lets just say her top left little to the imagination
  21. Sorry, it was a penalty he scored and his work didn't actually deserve him getting anywhere near the scoresheet! There were other players more deserving of taking the penalty and Miller should have to get the fans off his back! Boyd is getting his run to keep people happy but to prove a point for smith also that he just isnt good enough! After the first 5 games of the season if he has only scored this one goal via the Pen spot will people still think he is the solution?
  22. We are getting 2 new ones! it actually helped not having them....mean ibrox was still full at 85mins today haha! I dont think anyone realised the time for a change!
  23. Well if he keeps playing like he did today then there would be no point having him, I think that was one of the worst games I've seen him play in a gers shirt. Only way he was going to score would have been from the penalty spot after someone elses work. Wouldnt surprise me if he starts against Aberdeen and is not used versus Celtic and for the games that followed that.
  24. Did anyone expect Boyd to be hooked ahead of Velicka? All of us in our section of the Main Stand were completely bemused when he wasn't hooked. Happier Bear today after that performance, by no means perfect but its an improvement. The Midfield may be looking very solid in the next week or so! If anything we may only be one CB away from a very complete squad though we have to offload some of the deadwood.
