  1. that's one of those things we jump on sure there was no foul either way but the ref has to consider the safety of players so blowing up with the ball stuck where it was prevented what could have been a serious injury to either of their players. he gave it as a free kick to prevent another possible incident if he had done the drop ball as he would do if it was outside the box. not defending collum in any way think the guys a dick of a ref just explaining what a refs reasons were for the decision
  2. and then straight into fuck yer harry. them were the days
  3. he,s marmite to me.some weeks he looks the part others he looks a fart. needs consistency and a bit more bottle.but think he has come on a lot under pedro could we all be starting to like someone warbs signed
  4. welders I have known over the years all knew where to put the rods. seen my brother earth onto his brother in laws caliper certainly knew what he was doing wakened the fucker right up
  5. you made a point earlier about threads dying a natural death. fair enough. but we have thousands of pages of posts that must have died a natural death and not been visited in years surely they should go before newish threads.
  6. think he has that already after the way he shut Sutton down on sunday
  7. it was a red card he led with the elbow he made contact with the elbow red card no argument. them saying he was defending himself are at it. your going into a players back no chance do you need to defend yourself unless you know your going to give the player a whack. he could have been yellow for jumping into miller and just perhaps that's what Thompson based the decision on but I doubt it. even later with the hand ball no way can you call an arm raised at that height a natural position so a 2nd yellow should have come out. and well done pedro shutting Sutton down with the comment regarding his coaching experience also liked the we comment he made when Sutton said I ask the questions pedros I can ask questions also class.
  8. think we are forgetting we are at this point a couple of weeks behind all the teams we have played so far. they have all been playing competitive games in that pishy cup group so are pretty much up to speed in competitive games we are a little behind both in competitive game time and a settled team.its not an excuse as such but it does make a difference. we should be battering teams like this. so I will wait a couple of weeks till we have had game time to settle new players and new systems. I know as a support we expect only the very best from the team and rightly so.but an almost new starting 11 needs a bit of time.even the players from last season need time to work things out on the pitch with the new guys only so much you can do on the training pitch.
  9. they can but it would not do much good as the sfa/spfl are the sole arbiters in the appointments. so in all probability it would go nowhere. at local level slightly different. if a club contacts the league to say look we had so and so last week and he did xyz we would rather not have him for a few weeks to let the dust settle then 9/10 the ref would get moved to another game. shit I know but that's what we are living with. would much prefer to see an independent appointments board free from the sfa/spfl
  10. the problem is as always interpretation by the ref. law is 2 players head to head both are red no intentional head to head contact allowed. interpretation ref sees it as hand bags no intent to cause injury so gives yellows in law he is wrong. but have to admit to doing this myself. sometimes even the atmosphere of the game can decide if its red or yellow. if the player making the head butt motion is obviously to far away to make contact then the ref has some discretion he can view it as a threat and still red card him if he is being a twat but the option is there most would just have a word but keep it in mind for later in the game and then he gets a yellow or red for what most see as minor infringements but that threat is still in the refs mind so totting up he gets a yellow for silly stuff. sometimes this is why we as fans get wound up by daft yellow cards we tend to miss or forget in the heat of the game all that the player has done or if the ref has spoken to him as a warning. the problem with the intent is like in a court how do you prove what a persons intent was you cant as nobody knows what is going on in someone's head at that time. so the panel look at it see the movement towards another player and view it as a threat meaning violent conduct / threatening behaviour appeal binned. like I said before I am not defending the ref here as I only seen it on bbc highlights but even in that airbrushed segment you could see beaton had a howler. would expect him to be injured next week but with the sfa/spfl I doubt it will happen
  11. if you look at the other quote in my post you will see I also addressed your point. none of us are perfect and I am not out to defend refs as they can and do at times influence games by poor decisions normally made from poor positioning of the ref but at league level with 3/4 officials it is poor. its down to the amount of cock ups and how they are seen to affect a game for one team or the other. be honest would this even be being talked about here if it had been the other way round.
  12. can see your point in that. I know a few who have never kicked a ball. and one is now a ref in the championship and another who has just left that level due to injury. refs are no experts we all make howlers at some point. don't know who they had on but he is talking rubbish. from level4+ refs get approx. 4 weeks off then they are into training camps just like players. from the training camps they are sent out to clubs to explain new laws etc and do training games with the clubs to show them how the new laws work. they then do at least 2 behind doors games. then they do 4/5 pre season games not always in this country so they are well up to speed before the season starts
  13. refs head on. if you are deemed to make an aggressive move with the head towards an opponent or any other person(including spectators) during the game it is seen as violent conduct and a red card. having said that stokes should not have been on the pitch after the tangle with tav.the ref was in position to see that. some are also saying he was in good position to see the head movement so should have also seen stokes grab jack by the throat. and for that depending on the ref that could also have been red or just a yellow. depending on how he views it in the context of the game. we have all seen players get yellow for that type of thing and wondered why. so with his yellow for the tav incident and then his part in the jack card he should have walked also.
  14. Rossiter needs to stay fit and grab the chance when he gets on the park.jack has a proven record at the sheep and is rightly 1st choice atm.rossiter needs to get the head down and force jack out.
  15. first half he was being played onto the ball second he was fed virtually nothing that tends to have an effect on how players perform
  16. Not the finished article yet but we have defo improved the type of players in the squad so some resson for optimistic.dont really see us win the league but no reason not to lift a cup.and that has to be an improvement on the last few yesrs
  17. At 61 think i have the age bit covered and practice the to much as often as possible
  18. Terrible that.never had the joy of a hangover and i have tried.
  19. Only travelled once with them but met them in glagow a couple of times and was at the club not so long ago every time its been like meeting friends after being away always welcomed and looked after great bunch of lads and they can party
  20. boy didn't do much wrong when he played. however he is not up to a starting place yet. work hard in the u20s and force your way into contention nobody can argue with squad selection if your proving your worth it or indeed a starting slot for that matter
  21. covering a lot of ground unassuming and winning everything and playing it to a guy in a blue top will never make it at ours with that type of play
  22. not tried rtv as I live in the uk and don't get live feeds as a rule.ok for archived stuff outside of that not much use to me. but after reading the few posts I don't fancy wasting money on a dodgy channel. so it a stream for me.
  23. Dunfermline away think it was 66/67 but remember we won.train from queen st was packed and swaying like a balloon in the wind songs being belted out. don't remember that much about the game. but as they were a good team back then it was great result and the journey back was manic.
  24. all arguing about him. we seem to forget he took us to Manchester. who complained about him then or when he stayed. he was then shit on by the club offering him a shite contract so he went fair play. anybody else here who would stay in your job at a reduced contract I think not we all want as best as we can get. as for the case against the club I aint sure if it was him or his advisors that kicked that off all the technical shit in contracts can leave it open to interpretation and the fact he never chased it through the courts says he accepted it might have moaned but who wouldn't moan. he was a good number 2 and when he came down the leagues with us he was a good No1.
