champions league isn't our level it won't ever be again sadly.

    For fuck sake.

We're unlikely to win the thing any time soon but we can surely try to not to get fucking pumped by the likes of PSV who, while a good side, aren't exactly Madrid, City, et al.

But aye, let's continue to just accept mediocrity.

  2. Possibly heat of the moment, but ultimately it boils down to the fact that Beale doesn't have it. Talks a good game, sometimes, but has shown absolutely fuck all to suggest he has what it takes. Nor had he shown anything to justify being appointed in the first place.

Unfortunately it seems like we've given him free reign over the football department as well as the guts of £15 million to spend, without any actual plan.

Folk suggesting winning on Sunday rectifies or mitigates tonight - not having that. The tarriers are pish and frankly we're relying on them being worse than us. It means nothing, in the long term.

important part of the title winning squad

Was he? Can't say I recall that to be honest.

Guy is decent technically but he's chronically slow and inconsistent.

Comes up with the odd moment but no different from what others would and will do, so don't know why some think he's a great loss, personally.

We have brought in 2 starters in January who look like they possess the quality we need.  Beale and Wilson seem to have a good relationship by all accounts so giving them the chance this summer to refresh the team and mould it in Beale's image seems the most logical solution.  They'll know they are under pressure to get it right but we can do without the circus sideshows.

Give them a chance? How many chances has Wilson and the board had?

Half the problem is they're absolutely never under pressure. Countless failures but no consequences, which probably plays a part in how the treat the support.

We have a big summer ahead of us the last thing we need is more board turmoil and a few hundred fans with scruffy daubed bed sheets dictating the clubs strategy.

Exactly. Just a pity that this executive board and recruitment team have been found wanting, at pretty much each and every turn.

Perhaps a bit of pressure on them is justified, given its largely their fault we are in need of such a big overhaul this summer?

We have people saying that Raskin is a 'Potential Superstar' based on his performance against Partick.

This is the bipolar nature of this place. The board have to do better than signing superstars within our budget.

I'm not really sure what your argument is here? Because we've signed one guy who folk think may be a player (disregarding the hype and bandwagon around him, which I am guilty of jumping on), the board have therefore ticked the recruitement box and shouldn't get any flak?

They've presided over a squad screaming out for investment for years, along with employing managers and a DoF that are responsible for refreshing said squad. One potential gem != job done or eradicate the multiple failures.

Things like NEH are absolutely vital for us to increase our annual turnover going forward which allows us more spend in line with Uefa FFP.

It would be absolute negligence if the board were not looking at ways to grow us off the park.

Absolutely. The main point, however, is that we're a football team - your average punter wants to win trophies. That will aso breed success elsewhere with the business, surely?

I'd also argue that it is even more negligent to not prioritise growing us on the park first; to get our DoF to do his job better, or for our recruitment team to do their job better, to recognise what the majority of folk looking in see - that the squad is done and needs refreshed. Constantly being below par and failing to win trophies will be more detrimental to our business and brand, particularly if (when?) we do fail in Europe and that income stream dries up.

"We're second again; we got beat in the cup final when it mattered again, but hey - at least we're comfortably meeting UEFA's financial regulations and have a fanzone to attend."

^I know I'm being sarcastic there, but come on.

You are right... right now it is only on paper... but with the addition of Cantwell & Raskin and Tillman coming on leaps and bounds, Kent returning to his best, and Roofe back; I believe someone is going to get battered soon.

    Hopefully, in two weeks time.

Love Tillman; Raskin looks promising and hopefully Cantwell can get back to what his form was a few years ago. But as always it's mentality with this squad. Still not convinced we have it, frankly.

But aye, I'd definitely take it in two weeks time - amen to that.

When we start playing a settled team over a few consecutive games, we are going to batter teams. There is too much firepower in the team now. I'm convinced of it.

On both points, what makes you say that?

Wouldn't say we chop and change the team that often, to be honest. And on firepower - maybe on paper, but we rarely play direct or quickly enough to batter teams. Nor are we clinical enough.

Absolutely can't argue with results but performances haven't improved, so I'm more inclined to see a poor result around the corner as others have said, as opposed to us battering teams.
