If we sold butland, id honestly go an get gordon from hearts, give us a season or two at most to sort the rest of the team before sorting out the keeper position
Came back from that horror injury and is still a top keeper
Talk Hart out of retiring, get him to work on his penalty taking and we can replace Tav as well 😉

Speaking of McCausland in the air, we aimed far too many balls to his head on Sunday
Not really playing to his strengths 😂

I thought about that but would Sterling not be more used to the left side than McCausland?
Sterling played there the last time against St Mirren and wasn’t great but could be a shout so the LHS doesn’t get targeted in the air with Yilmaz and McCausland.

Butland
Tav Balogun Goldson Yilmaz
Lundstram Diomande
Sterling Cantwell McCausland
Dessers

I've only watched brief highlights of the game, and sometimes when you're actually at the game you miss things. Especially at a place like Hampden.
But other than his involvement in the 1st goal, is there any good forward play from Tav i missed?
Sterling (playing on the wrong side) had a few decent runs to the by-line, but i can't remember much from Tav.
I remember the row z free kick, lots of short corners when we actually have someone in the box for once who can attack the ball. (Balogun).
Maybe yous can enlighten me?
Not answering the other post as the thread has moved on.
Funny how you remember the Row Z free kick but not the shot on target in the 1st half from McCausland cutback, which was also on the highlights package seeing as you missed it at the game 😉

Souttar Absolutley fucks it but aye it’s defo tavs fault for slipping
Thought Souttar was stinking for a period of about 20 minutes, absolute liability at times.

That guys an idiot mate I’d not bother conversing with him.
Aye probably right, was wondering what the blunder was as couldn’t remember a ffs Tav at the game but watched the highlights and was pretty much as I thought from B7, some folk just want to see what they want rather than what actually happened.

It was on a hearts counter attack after Souttar loses the ball out wide that ended up with Delvin getting booked for fouling Balagon.
They attack at pace and roll a ball across the edge of our box.
Tav's there but somehow falls over his own feet and the ball rolls passed him.
Shocking defending but he wasn't the only one today with schoolboy defending.
So Tav slips when the initial mistake is made by Souttar but it’s “Tav’s blunder nearly cost us big time” (which never actually happened, as they didn’t get a shot at Butland)
No praise for his block when Souttar fucked it in the 2nd half, which cleared out a potential opportunity?
No praise for his work in getting the ball to Cantwell for the opening goal when he could have stopped for a free kick but continued to fight for the ball?
The only big mistake he made was a poor clearance at about 80 odd minutes that eventually led to Oda shot at Butland but there was some pretty pish defending all round at that point that I put down to team tiredness rather than highlight one individual.
He wasn’t brilliant but certainly wasn’t poor yesterday, he had a solid game with the rest of the team.

Matondo is ineffective at times, but he'll be a player full backs will always hate playing against. They'll be fucked after 60-70 minutes, also a nightmare to play against when they're tired.
If he had better game awareness he could be more of a threat as he has great pace and shown that he can finish but those positives are outweighed by his negatives of not taking his man on in the right areas of the pitch and spending a lot of time on his arse as he loses footing/balance.

He did slip at one point, harsh to blame him for that.
Is that not when Souttar had been ragdolled again but ultimately didn’t lead to anything?

Very good second half covering when Souttar fucked it! Depends on narrative you’re trying to peddle I suppose.
I genuinely can’t remember the 2nd half blunder.
He was integral to the opening goal and made a great clearance when Souttar fucked it at 1-0, thought he was solid without being spectacular.
-
Solid win today, some good performances from Balogun, Sterling, Cantwell, Dio and Dessers.
For about 20 minutes Souttar was howling and Matondo was ineffective.
Hopefully take a bit of confidence into the game against St Mirren.

Im pissed off because we are continuing to play players in the blind hope they produce a fleeting moment while being below average for the rest of the game
Not just tav but a lot of them
Its fucking annoying watching all our players play at a 4/10 in the desperate hope we bag a penalty, or tav hits a wonder free kick, or someone just produces one moment
Its a shite way to set up a team and we have been lumbered with it for years now
Yep with you on the majority of that, we just need to get through the next 7 games (hopefully) and see where we are at the end of it, regardless of trophies won or lost I am hopeful that the squad overhaul that we wanted last year will be carried out a bit sharper by PC and Koppen.

I politely asked you to task a player for free kicks other than Tav.
Your reply is a question.
Who would you choose to take our free kicks given that you said he shouldn't take them.
Who do you recommend?
Anyone in our squad.
Go on....
Any name.....
In the last 6 weeks or so I can remember Cantwell hitting a decent one from the right, Ridvan hitting a few shite ones before he got injured, Borna hitting a few decent ones and Diomande hitting a few shite ones.
The set pieces should be better but to me that’s something they should be working on in training that we don’t get a lot of spare time as we are generally playing every 3 or 4 days, I see it as a pre-season where the hard work is done then it’s fine tuned during the season.

Well his corners are fucking howling yet he still takes them, if the current players are even worse at corners than tav currently is then what the fuck are they doing
There was nothing wrong with the corner that he put on Goldson’s head in midweek that he hit straight at the keeper.
PC strikes me as the type of manager that is pretty strict, I don’t see him letting Tav take set pieces for shits n giggles.
If we have someone better than Tav but PC can’t stand up to him then we have the wrong guy in the dug out and he should go before Tav but I don’t think that’s the case, pretty sure you don’t either but you’re just pissed off with Tav specifically and the team in general.

Question
How do you know that theres not another player able to take free kicks?
Not like anyone else gets to try in games do they
Surely you don’t think that we have someone better but Tav just decides he’s taking it because he’s captain?
In the unlikely event that did happen it would make PC a weak manager if he can’t control who takes our set pieces.

We go again.Butland
Tav Goldson Souttar Barisic
Lundstram Sterling
McCausland Cantwell Sima
Dessers
The entire team gives me the shites to type out but we have a cup to try win somehow.
Hwfg ready to be hurt again
Would go with this team unless Robbie Fraser is ready for a shout at LB as Borna gives me the fear but need Sterling in midfield which is a damning indictment of Raskin, Lawrence and Dowell.

Still travelling down the road, that was fucking grim.
The “attacking” options were awful to a player tonight
We are so slow in the build up or it’s just an aimless hoof up the park.
Gutted.

With Yilmaz still out and Barisic not used recently would imagine means Sterling back to LB.
Butland
Tav Balogun Goldson Sterling
Lundstram Diomande
McCausland Lawrence Cantwell
Dessers
Would be tempted to go two up front with Dessers and Silva/Roofe if the defence was playing well but we just need to get the win no matter what.
