  1. Along with Gough and Butcher , IMO Amoruso was a notch above the rest of our centre backs since the Souness /Holmes revolution . Moore and Alan McLaren just slightly behind . As @eejay the dj said above , the man was a winner and we've been sadly lacking in that department in recent times .
  2. Absolutely correct mate , the haters couldn't give a fuck how much their double standards and hypocrisy are on show with regards to their views and official dealings with our Club are . The recent case of the fanzone is a case in point , elected councillors caught out lying and interfering in due process , and it's just ignored and we move on ! While I admire the tenacity of those that are working to expose the truth , the Club board need to take a lead on the constant attacks ( not from random pricks on social media ) but on cunts who are in a position of responsibility , councillors , MP's , msp's , journalists and reporters , be upfront when challenging the haters and let the support know that we as a Club will be challenging the untruths , and petty digs . Do it out in the open and not behind closed doors and let it be clear that if someone is willing to attempt to blacken our Club and support then they better be able to back it up . No more dignified silence .
  3. The first home game against East Fife at Ibrox after all the doubts and worries we had about our future was a bit special for me . I admit to being a bit emotional watching the Club Deck filling up as the kick off was delayed to let the fans in . On the park , I think most of us will say the SCSF win over the tarriers will live long in the memory , even if IMO it's slightly tarnished by the subsequent display in the final . The 4-2 win over hibs at Christmas time was something approaching the feelings of watching successful Rangers sides of the past , and then finally the match against Rapid , where the atmosphere could truly be put on a par with some of our previous legendary nights in Europe .
  4. Five semi-finals without a fucking goal !
  5. I believe that Ian Durrant would have ended up one of the best midfield players in our history if not for that cunt at pittodrie . Most people forget /aren't aware that the assault happened after the ref had already blown for a free kick to Rangers ! With the influence of Souness , Wilkins etc at that time and the ability he was showing , I think he would have eventually moved to Italy and shone in the best league going at that time . The attendances at some of his comeback games are testimony to how highly the support thought of him .
  6. Kids / concessions tickets are £17 ffs ! However it's good to see that Scottish football can flourish without Rangers .
  7. The musical interlude would have been interesting ?
  8. A fantastic scoring record Don . Like you say , he seems almost forgotten despite his goals , perhaps due to the legends that were team mates like Morton , Cunningham and Archibald . The man who followed him in the No.9 shirt Jimmy Fleming also had a great record that largely goes unnoticed , possibly due to his successor Sam English's record .
  9. Aye , lost 3-2 to united after being 2-0 up and struggled against Falkirk at home as well after the opening day defeat at the Edinburgh junkies . For me , it was only when we beat Hamilton at home in the January when we had Ian Durrant sent off that I allowed myself to think that "this might just be the year" . Beating the tarriers at New year in the manner we did was great but TBH even in the Greig/Wallace lean years we were still able to give them a few going overs , winning games against the lesser teams was always a thing we struggled with up to then .
  10. The Dundee Utd game was in march 81 , the crowd is given as 14 000 which would be about normal for a midweek game around then . Jim Stewart made his debut that night . Pre Souness it was not unusual to roll up at the stand of your choice , or the smallest queue , at ten to three . You then paid your cash and had time to have a pish , buy a pie/Bovril and still be in a seat before kick off ? Even the first few home games of the Souness era while a lot busier , were still only watched by the types of numbers we were used to when facing the tarriers or the sheep . Took a few months and the realization that this might be more than some of the previous false dawns before we were facing the prospect of sell outs and all ticket games .
  11. Jock Wallace signed him not long into his second spell as manager , late 83 early 84 and the Glens had to wait to 2001 for the game that was part of the deal ?
  12. He was unlucky with injuries whenever it looked like he might get a run of games . I was always surprised that he never went home to Irish League football like McKnight , Fitzgerald or Stephen Carson . Got talking to John Morrow's wife when she worked in a local travel agents a few years back and she seemed genuinely pleased that someone could remember his time with us ?
  13. Moses Ashikodi , last minute sub appearance against the tarriers at parkhead under Big Eck .
  14. So it was you that gave him the idea for his latest piece of literature ! ?
  15. MotM today IMO . Much improved positional play meant fewer of his last ditch style tackles and kept the ball ticking over nicely , allowing Arfield and Coulibaly the freedom to play the more advanced roles today . Also had a more than decent spell at RB when Tav went off .
  16. Nah mate , @K.A.I is a good hearted cunt who just got too serious on here at times . I'm sure if he hears about the OP's dilemma , he will offer to drop off the keys to his house and make sure the game is available for him to watch ?
  17. Mainly remember him as a CB but you're right that he also had the ability to be a quality midfield player as well . I've read a few articles about him and how highly Robson rated him , When he was struggling to train in between games Robson let him go back home to Carlisle during the week even though he knew that Beattie would be on the drink for most of the time , but that come Saturday he would still be one of the teams top performers .
  18. Pity @K.A.I isn't still posting mate , he was only down the road in Dumbarton . Might even have managed a couple of games of pool at half time .
  19. I think that Beattie's injuries helped Butcher to get into the side originally . Alan Hunter & Russell Osman were also involved at that time , Robson certainly seems to have been a lucky man to have those choices for CB .
  20. Alberto Tarantini , Lunatic full back . I don't think he lasted too long , strange considering the likes of Tommy Smith , Norman Hunter and Ron Harris are all legends !
  21. How did you forget Ardiles and Villa mate ? Also plenty of foreigners like Brady , Stapleton & O'Leary ?
  22. The answer will depend on who is logged on to the account mate .
  23. It's really poor if we can't find people to cover the main areas of this country , Shouldn't cost a fortune to cover the petrol costs of a dozen or so guys who can keep us up to date on prospects in youth football .
  24. Kane is a talented boy , but had no luck with injuries recently . Wouldn't be surprised to see Kearney trying to bring him to st.mirren when he gets back to fitness .
