  1. Delighted that the Board got this one over the line without too much trouble , they've been rightly criticized in the past for a lack of urgency in bringing in a Manager , but we seem to be moving in a far better direction now . Excited to see what improvements that Gio & staff can make to the current playing squad over the next few weeks .
  2. We always seemed to start the season with a degree of optimism , and then the bubble would burst round about the clocks changing Watched the 85/86 season review on youtube not that long ago , and the crowd we had at both Easter rd & Tynecastle early in the season was superb , and I remember the Scottish Cup game that we lost 3-2 at Hearts , that ended any hope of a trophy , again the away support was immense , yet it was one of our worst seasons . Going to games then was a lot more enjoyable in some ways , as in general all games , Cup Finals & OF were accessible for anyone who wanted to go , and you stood (or sat ) with your group of mates, The football wasn't great though ! The attendances during Souness debut season took a wee while to build as well , Too many scarred by the previous few seasons false dawns .
  3. Murray's decision to hike up the prices and sell as 3 game packages , had a big bearing on the Euro attendances during the latter years of the 9IAR . That and the realization that 92/93 was a blip and poor results were more the norm . Pre Souness , a lot of the support tended to pick and choose which games to go to , especially since it was cash at the gate and in most instances you could arrive at the ground at ten to three and still have time for a pish and a pie & bovril before taking your choice of seats .
  4. I think it will depend on how much he gets out of the players already at his disposal . If he gets the results that pull them away from the relegation fight , then I think the likes of Kent & Kamara would come into his thoughts . If on the other hand he struggles to turn things around quickly then I see him splashing the cash in a higher market than the SPL in order to get him out of trouble . I expect plenty of noise about who will be rejoining him over the next six weeks or so , most of it without much substance .
  5. One thing seems clear , If and when Gerrard moves on , the list of candidates to replace him will be of a higher quality than what we were looking at prior to him taking the job . FWIW , I don't see him leaving before the conclusion of the current season . The Title and Champions League qualification will be a big factor in him staying . He's not leaving for any other top 4 team bar Liverpool , and jobs with clubs like Villa will always be linked to him , but whether he would take the risk of failure there , and let's be honest it's pretty ruthless amongst that particular group of clubs , ruining his chances of the job that he's always wanted . I'm not so sure he's in any rush professionally to go anywhere , but family reasons might come into the equation .
  6. Coop would get slaughtered on social media if he was playing now Most of the top class players of yesteryear IMO would have been able to adapt to the circumstances , but some of the more physical run of the mill players would struggle .
  7. Bill Miller was the one that prompted the "Yanks no thanks" banners .
  8. Thoughts are with Ethel and the wider Smith family at this time . Walter gave me some of the happiest times of my life as a young man in the 90's , and then returned to give me some more memorable times when taking my 3 young kids to games , The 9 man League Cup Final is a case in point . No other Rangers manager of my lifetime pulls that one off . Thanks for all the good times Walter . Walter Smiths Blue & White Army Forever
  9. Not seen any of the post match stuff (Gerrard I presume ) To be fair his decision to bring Davis on and move Lundstrum out right seemed to backfire this time and only invited more pressure onto the back four .
  10. I agree with the first part mate , but I don't think the midfield was a big problem today . Players being wasteful in front of goal , taking the wrong options , and a goalie who showed the punching ability of michael stewart ultimately cost us full points today .
  11. Not this one mate , Referee Marcus McDonnell was the only guy who scored it
  12. Fucking terrible decision , referee should be reprimanded for that ! Corrupt as fuck . Hatton at best won a round . Back to the drawing board now for team Hatton , as tonight showed the boy has a lot of work to do ( not his fault that he's being pushed onto bills like tonight )
  13. Dougie has got previous with this . Back in the 90's , busses running to European away games were being told that they wouldn't get an official allocation unless they used Parks of Hamilton . PoH were usually a good bit dearer than other bus companies as well .
  14. Same here Scotty . Also got tickets for both games last weekend . Quicker we get back to full capacity the better though .
  15. I'm sure it was just a coincidence that the 2 fan media outlets that pushed the "no interest" angle , were ever present at Ibrox last season , despite One's main contribution being pictures of his fucking packed lunch .
  16. Successfully defending the League title has to be the priority , and hopefully another decent euro run as well . Any other time , I would agree that the League and a Cup should be the minimum we look for , but given the financials involved not only for us , but the other mob as well , then adding another title and pulling further away from the rest will do for me . Won't stop me moaning like fuck if we repeat last seasons Cup debacles .
  17. There was an article years ago in the old Follow Follow fanzine regarding this , seems it was just some random supporter who made his way into the photos of the celebrations An original Karl Power ! A few guys all named the same boy and what bus he went on IIRC . You can just make out big DJ's perm behind Sandy and Tam Forsyth's arm .
  18. I would just have assumed that the present incumbents on the Board who were willing to play the long game , in order to get the Club at as low a price as possible , would be able to see off a supporters group who have never been a particularly popular bunch since the RF/RST merger . Any influence that C1872 had is diminishing with every share issue and they don't seem able to generate the influx of new members that would enable them to have the clout they once had .
  19. I get that mate , but why now ? C1872 's relevance is diminishing with nearly every new share issue and there's no chance of them raising anywhere near the required amount to purchase DK's shares , especially under the current set up IMO . They certainly don't seem to be any threat to the status of the existing hierarchy .
  20. I don't think Dingwall was ever serious about being elected , and this is all about exposing the current C1872 boards shortcomings ( which shouldn't be too hard ) and also having a few subtle digs at Chris Graham . The big question for me , Is why now , and who stands to gain most from all this ? It certainly won't be for the benefit of the ordinary punter who pay into C1872 .
  21. Would be interesting to see how many goals they scored between them ! Even the decent strikers they've had were not what could be called prolific .
  22. Fair play to the Southampton board for keeping faith with the guy as well , would have been easy to ditch him after the Leicester result . I hope Ross Wilson has kept his contact book from his time there .
