  1. Last year we looked incredibly fit, could outrun any team in the country for 90 mins and beyond. Players would charge the ball just to,stop it going out for a throw in for us! Now look at us, we looked dead on our feet and Wallace in particular looked like he was running with lead boots. All of this with them pressing every player while we just backed off. I don't know how things have gone so terribly wrong but the dressing room needs a jock Wallace or souness type character in the dressing room to tear them a new one. If any one of those players believes that today was acceptable they need a swift boot up the arse. I firmly believe this is what Barton's approach had been after the 5-1 game and it didn't go down well with the touchy feely nicely-nice atmosphere Warburton wants. Its fine when things are going well but when the shit hits the fan you need leaders on and off the park and I really feel that this is lacking big time.
  2. It was damage limitation and probably one of the most toothless performances I've seen. Remember when McDowall did the same? The score line didn't embarrass us but the performance of the midfield and front 3 did. Only Gilks spared our blushes today. Bottom line is I'm still gutted and we'll get the same lines from the manager and the players that leads me to believe they aren't gutted.
  3. Feels awful admitting it but this is spot on the money. Teams can punch above their weight if everyone pulls together and are well organised both defending and attacking. We don't have that therefore we rely on the quality of our players on an individual basis and they just don't cut it. The trouble is even if the board make £15m available in January, will Warburton use it since he has so much faith in the current squad as is shown by his constant refusal to drop underperforming players. The score line might not have been as embarrassing as the last time but the performance was terrible, with the exception of Gilks.
  4. With them pushing such a high line we have to look to get behind them and you do that with pace and width. McKay needs to come off for MoH. This was his chance today and he hasn't stepped up. Whats worrying is the fact we haven't tested Gordon at all in 45 mins, can't win without getting shots on target.
  5. Think you might be right. Really hope all 11 who are picked perform this time round and it just clicks like the Scottish cup semi final win it in 90.
  6. Agree. It's unfortunately the nature of this horrid disease. Massive amount of respect for Fernando for doing all he can to raise awareness and funds so that people may be better off in the future. Many would feel sorry for themselves and just give up but he's using his life's work to do good even in the most dire situation. Fair play to Ronaldo too. Often think he is an egotistical prick but it's a really nice gesture.
  7. He has every right to ask questions but to be stupid enough to ask on the same subject matter when MW made it clear from the off that he wouldn't be commenting on it shows that Benstead is either a royal moron or a royal prick......or both. They are looking to get a rise from the gaffer, would be great for them if he erupted but he's got too much class for that.
  8. Put it this way, if he only ever managed us he can cite off the field troubles for his inability to manage. Whilst there is undoubtedly some truth in that I still believe he is a terrible manager. Taking any other management job will introduce another opportunity to see how poor he is and this time he might not have other excuses. Really don't care what he does any way, will remember his playing days and leave it at that. The sooner these threads stop popping up the easier that will be.
  9. That it'll all magically sort itself out we've trained well, we've prepared well......hollow words.
  10. This stubborness is getting incredibly tiresome. First it was formation now it would seem its also with his favourite players regardless of form.
  11. Not if @RFCRobertson or @Lloyd72 have anything to say about that u less of course they have also turned on Kiernan
  12. Been thinking this for a while now. Tav goes forward Wallace tucks in a bit for a back 3 and vice versa when Wallace goes forward.
  13. Warburton clearly spent too much time idolising barcas success with inside forwards. It works if your players are head and shoulders above your opposition but ours are not. For me the games against Annan, Stranraer, East Stirlingshire, Linfield, Charleston and Burnley should all have been about finding a plan B but we wasted that opportunity. I think interplay between a front two is what we are missing. 442 still has width and overlapping full backs but you get a better return of the ball in and around the box. Look at garners goal against them and the switching with Miller, their defence looked as shite as ours.
  14. The way I see it is we've got problems in all 3 areas. Defence isn't good enough and won't be unless we invest in January. Midfield was devoid of energy and was too slow. The manager has attempted to rectify this in recent games and we've looked better as a result. The front 3 for me is the big concern. As mentioned there isn't enough guile or cutting edge. The players we have aren't good enough to play this formation and I really believe a 2 striker formation will serve us better until such time we can get real quality in these positions.
  15. Can it play DM better than he has so far?
  16. "To exact revenge for yourself or your friends is not only a right, it's an absolute duty." Hope we tear them a fucking new one.
  17. Whatever happened to earning your place in the team? Or players having a path to the first team? What kind of message does it send out that you get a chance and perform better than the player you replaced only to be dropped the next game? For that reason Hodson should start but he won't. Hard to say if McKay performed better since he didn't start or if it was just because it was against lesser opponents but I do believe in dropping underperformers as that's the only way you will get real competitiveness.
  18. That's what I'm trying to get at, we can beat any of the 4 potential teams if we are on our game. Revenge is a pretty good motivator and incentive especially for those that took the result to heart. As Ali once said “I'm a fighter. I believe in the eye-for-an-eye business. I'm no cheek turner. I got no respect for a man who won't hit back. You kill my dog, you better hide your cat.”
  19. I think he's decent and his passion for the club undoubtedly adds a dimension that is missing with other players. I think as we progress (into Europe at some point) Halliday if still here will be a squad player at best. Was hoping we'd see more of him in an attacking sense when he played with the DMs coming in but that seems to have fucked right up with one injured and the other gobbling off at the manager.
  20. Not at all, I'm saying what you said earlier we need to deal with who we are drawn against whether it's Morton or them so for me there's not much point in hoping for a weaker team. If others want to hope for Morton and be disappointed if we draw them then that's there prerogative.
  21. That's like hoping your opponents get a man sent off so you can win.....understand that results are crucial but we should be winning games because we are good enough. The team has it in them just taking a while to change gear.
  22. Got the ball just inside their half from Nike. Doesn't take away from the quality of the goal. Shows what happens when you are direct... https://streamable.com/hceq
  23. Take whoever we get. We need to get confidence and swagger back and that doesn't come by hoping we get the easy teams. We're not at our best but there are small signs of improvement. A win this weekend will only speed up the recovery.
