Had the same initial reaction, just after seeing niko the other night and hoping Barton would get more game time and then see he isn't even on the bench. It's a good idea to rotate and get fitness levels up though, wouldn't expect our strongest XI for all 4 games.

Fucking stupid idea. Makes a draw almost as attractive as a win so teams will sit in for 1 point then hope to get the "win" on penalties.

Best half of the tournament for me so far. End to end excitement. Ukraine have been impressive. Certainly not out of this...........

There was always going to be an element of trepidation/stage fright so maybe one striker was a way of working against that i.e. keep it tight and maybe sneak a goal from a set piece. The positive from the game was that when you had 2 up top you had more possession and looked more threatening. I'd expect 2 up top from the start against Ukraine followed by a similar set up to tonight for the German game.

With 4 of the 6 groups having third place qualify a decent win over Ukraine and maybe a draw against Germany or a narrow defeat and you'll get through. Still it's The first time you've qualified so enjoy the experience and stay safe!
